Biography[]
Babe is a young pig who gets separated from his family and ends up into Hoggett farm owned by Farmer Arthur Hoggett and his wife Esme Hoggett. He’s prejudiced by many animals (who simply call him "pig") but unlike them, Babe is very friendly and polite to about anyone he meets. Because of his kindness, he gets many of the animals to warm up to him. He becomes Fly and Rex (a sheep dog couple)'s adoptive son and also the sheep's friend.
However, one his friends named Maa was killed by a group of wild dogs and Farmer Hoggett mistook him for her death and prepares to shoot him. Luckily he was saved by Fly and Esme Hoggett. Esme informed the farmer that she received a call from the police that there were wild dogs attacks and the other farm owned by the Mitchells has lost 6 lambs that morning. She tells him it was the wild dogs who caused Maa's death. Maa's death devastated the other Hoggett's animals including Ferdinand when they heard this from Fly.
Farmer Hoggett soon discovers Babe has a gift, and can do a sheep dog work (in fact, Babe gets the sheep to get in and out of fences by asking politely) and trains him as a sheep dog. The farmer is taken for a madman until Babe proves himself in a sheep dog contest having courage by Rex and makes a perfect score. In their victory, Hoggett simply says, with a smile: "That'll do, pig. That'll do." and Babe sighs happily.
