Baby Mario is the infant form of Mario and a supporting protagonist in the Mario video game series, most prominently appearing as the deuteragonist of the Yoshi's Island series. He first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for the SNES in 1995. He also appears in Mario Golf for the N64 in 1999, and Mario Tennis in 2000. He’s also one of the main protagonists in Mario & Luigi Partners in Time. Baby Mario also appears in the Mario Kart series such as Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii. He appeared in Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers. Four years later, Baby Mario appears in Mario Tennis Open for the Nintendo 3DS, this time as an unlockable character.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
While a stork is flying Baby Mario and Baby Luigi through the sky to their parents, Kamek, alongside his minions, the Toadies, ambush the stork, kidnapping Baby Luigi while Baby Mario falls down to Yoshi's Island, where he is immediately found by the Yoshis. They then take it upon themselves to trek across the island and reach Kamek's whereabouts to save Baby Luigi from Kamek. After a heated battle against a giant Baby Bowser, Baby Mario is reunited with Baby Luigi, and the stork returns to take both of them to their parents.

Yoshi's New Island[]
Shortly after the events of Yoshi's Island, the stork finds out that he accidentally delivered the baby Mario Bros. to the wrong parents, and rushes to pick up the babies and bring them to the right parents, only to be ambushed by Kamek again, leading to Baby Luigi being kidnapped as Baby Mario falls back down to Earth, this time landing on Egg Island. Being met by the Yoshis again, they take it upon themselves to trek across Egg Island to reach Kamek's castle while also dealing with Kamek multiple times on the way. After reaching Kamek's castle, defeating Baby Bowser, and shortly afterward, adult Bowser, the two free the stork and Baby Luigi as the stork brings them to their proper parents, eventually growing up to become the Italian plumber heroes they are today.

Baby Mario appears as a ace primary neutral spirit. His spirit battle is on the Yoshi's Island stage against tiny Mario who shields often and a team of Yoshis. Only Mario has to be defeated to win. At 99, the spirit can be enhanced to Baby Mario (Superstar Mario), an legend spirit that makes the user's attacks stronger if they manage to deliver the first attack in a fight.
