Baby Puss is a fictional recurring character featured in the Hanna-Barbera animated television series The Flintstones, and its TV spinoffs and feature films. He is a pet saber-toothed cat of the series' main characters, Fred and Wilma Flintstone.
History[]
Though featured in early merchandise and in the series' opening and closing credits, Baby Puss is rarely seen in the actual series. Baby Puss is mostly known for Fred's failed attempts at putting him out at night in the ending credit sequences. In a What-a-Cartoon short, "Dino: Stay Out!" (which is based on the credits sequence), Fred puts Dino in charge of keeping Baby Puss outside, only to often fail miserably with Baby Puss' relatives acting as him. The short ends with Fred showing him how it is done. Just like in the end credits, the cat locks them both out, leading Fred and Dino yelling for Wilma to let them in. In this cartoon, he is much smaller, has stripes, and is a more brownish color.
In the opening of The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown!, Baby Puss made a brief cameo before being woken up and scared away by Fred when he was late for work at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company.
In one episode, Pebbles' Birthday Party, he was seen sleeping on top of Fred's bed while Fred was snoring terribly, causing Puss to wake up. The cat himself actually talks and irritatingly decides to turn himself in at the animal shelter for while just to get a night's sleep.
Live Action[]
Baby Puss made cameo appearances in the film, including the opening and ending of the film which is based off the intros and endings of each episode of the Flintstones Series, where in the end, he is put outside by Fred, until he jumps through a window of the house and has Fred locked out in his place.
