Bahamut is a major character in the 2023 action role-playing high fantasy video game, Final Fantasy XVI. He is the Warden of Light that serves the Holy Empire of Sanbreque and manifested as Dion Lesage's Eikon. As the Eikon of Light, he acts as a direct counterpart to Odin and is arguably his equal.

Appearance

Bahamut appears as a giant, wyvern-like dragon with grey-colored scales and golden accents across his body. He has a wingspan that appears to be twice the size of Phoenix's. The most unique feature of his appearance is that he possesses six arms, four of which he uses as cannons to fire laser beams. When he drinks the aether from Drake's Tail, he gains a bright, golden aura around him, granting him a golden appearance.

Personality

Much like most of the other Eikons, Bahamut appears to be entirely dependent on his Dominant, Dion, and thus inherits most of his traits from him. He is seen as a benevolent force amongst the citizens of Sanbreque, acting as a divine protector for his nation.

However, when Dion breaks down from the death of his father, Bahamut unleashes his wrathful side upon those around him and proceeds to destroy everything without hesitation. In his battle with against Phoenix and Ifrit, Bahamut proves to be a resilient force of nature that is determined to defeat his opponents at any cost.
