Balder (or Baldr) is the Norse god of light, peace, beauty and justice, son of Odin and Frigg. He's by far the most pacifist and benevolent of his family. Unfortunate, he's killed by Loki, who deceived his blind brother, Hodr to shot him a mistletoe arrow in the heart.
In the end of all things, the Ragnarök, Balder however will resurrect and command the new universe with the other survivor gods.
History[]
The Death of Balder[]
Baldr takes a major role in his most unfortunate history, the one of his death.
At some point, Baldr started to have strange nightmares, who apparently indicate that he was going to die in some months. He tells this to his father Odin, who immediately goes to Midgard (the realm of men) to consult a Völva (Norse witches with diviner power). She confirms that the tragedy will happen soon.
Frigg, desperate, takes an adventure around all the worlds at the same day, and request to all living and non-living thing to not harm her son. Everything in the universe agreed, except the mistletoe. Loki, the trickster and evil jotun god, with extreme jealousy, planning to kill Baldr a while ago, find out this unique weakness.
When Frigg return to Asgard, all the gods get together to test the suppose invincibility of Balder, and started to throw him various weapons, including arrows, axes, swords and even Mjölnir, Thor's mighty hammer. Nothing hurt Balder's indestructible skin. All the gods celebrated.
Loki, noting that Hodr, Baldr's blind brother was isolated from the rest of the group, talked and manipulated the blinded god to shot at his brother an arrow. But this special arrow was made of mistletoe. Hodr, deceived by Loki, launched the projectile that perforate Balder's chest, killing him at the same time.
After the Ragnarök[]
Balder resurrects with his brother Hodr (who was killed by the god Vali, his vengeful brother), after the events of the Ragnarök. He and few other gods recreate Midgard and the universe and make a council in the new Asgard to rule the world in a new era of peace.
