Frost is one of the most celebrated detectives on the squad, from his tenured history to his invested, compassionate engagement with the cases he's responsible for. He's the emotional support for the victims and witnesses, as well as driven to catch the killers he's tasked with Rizzoli to hunt, rarely faltering in the lien of duty. He had a great relationship with Rizzoli and her family, and in additional to the both of them teasing each other and speaking their minds to criticize each during car rides alone, they trusted each other with their lives. Frost married a woman named Alice years ago, and although they were very much in love and happy with each other, it changed when Alice was working to earn her law degree. When she began hearing the politics of the law and questioning Frost's job, they began to fight more. She eventually wanted a divorce, which devastated Frost so badly he failed to prevent a targeted of a serial killer from being kidnapped. He made up for the costly consequence by joining Rizzoli to the killer's and accomplice's hideout, where the victim was rescued, and Frost and Rizzoli shot the killers dead, at the risk of Frost being shot and nearly losing his own life. His entire squad lauded him as a hero, Alice coming to the hospital to offer her support even in spite of their separation. They did eventually divorce, but Alice returned into Frost's life and wanted him back. As much as it hurt Rizzoli sympathetically, as she was worried Frost would get his heart broken again, Frost wanted to give Alice another chance and started their relationship over again with her.
