Bat-Cow is a supporting character in the popular "Batman" series of DC comics, having been a cow destined for slaughter until she was rescued by Damien Wayne, who would declare himself a vegetarian and renamed the cow "Bat-Cow", keeping her as his pet.
Although having no powers of her own Bat-Cow often wears a cowl and is treated much as any pet would, when Damien is unable to care for her the responsibility usually falls to the ever-faithful Wayne butler and mentor, Alfred, to ensure she is safe and well.
Due to her absurd origin and comical nature she is a mascot of sorts, as well as a homage and possible parody to the Silver Age gimmick of "super-pets" : which had animals gain superhuman abilities or costumes, usually to attract new readers (who at the time were usually seen as youngsters, as opposed to more modern comics that try and cater for older audiences).
