Barbara Joan Gordon also known as a Batgirl is one of the main protagonists of DC vs Vampires comic book limited series.
Biography[]
Nightwing arrives at Wayne Manor and finds Batgirl bathing in the sunlight. Batman calls them into the summon, where the rest of the Batman Family - Alfred Pennyworth, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, and Orphan - are already waiting. Batman informs the Family that last week, he was visited by Andrew Bennett, who warned that the vampires plan to wage war against humans. Andrew has since gone missing, and Batman's detective work indicates he was being followed before his trail went cold. Batman assures her that he is not by telling the Family of the Mad Monk, a bloodthirsty vampire who was one of his earliest foes. Batman also mentions the Mad Monk's female counterpart Dala, who Nightwing will remember since he encountered her during his time as Robin. Batman is unsure if the Mad Monk is the vampire who overthrew Mary, Queen of Blood, but does note that his insatiable hunger did pose a genuine threat to humans.
Ratcatcher struggles with a man until Batgirl intervenes, thinking Ratcatcher is assaulting someone. However, the man reveals himself to be a vampire and attacks. The vampire says that although the vampires have been ordered not to touch the Batman Family, he will simply lie that he acted in self-defense. Before the vampire can kill Batgirl, Nightwing stakes and destroys him. The two briefly flirt before the Ratcatcher interrupts them to reveal that a gang of vampires is hunting criminals all over Gotham. Batgirl investigates Gotham City and finds her way into an abandoned hotel room. Nightwing follows her in, and the two briefly flirt before Batgirl shows him that she found dirt in the room. Vampires must sleep above dirt from their ancestral home as they travel, and the room was booked for a long-term stay by a certain Mary Shackton, "Shackton" being the maiden name of Mary, Queen of Blood's mother. Batgirl surmises that Mary traveled to Gotham in secret, and she and Nightwing now must find out why.
Batgirl arrives at Joker's hideout when she sees them fighting King Shark Dead shot gives the command to strike him down but two other members Parasite and Savant are vampires as well. Harley, Boomerang, and Deadshot surround him and try to call Waller the system dead until Batgirl arrives to save them by staking Savant in the chest turning into dust.
As Batgirl and the Suicide Squad deal with the two former Powerhouses, Amanda calls the Squad back, whose radio is working again. Harley tells Waller that they have a problem: half the team is dead and the others are vampires who are after her and Deadshot Amanda tells Harley to hold on tight as she activates the nano bombs implanted in King Shark, Parasite, and Boomerang. However, this does not work and Batgirl must finish them off by staking the vampires through the heart. She and the team find the Joker’s dead body, letting Barbara realize that the Joker is not the King of the Vampires. Batgirl reaches Batman and warns him that the King of Vampires is one of the members of the Bat Family when she found the Joker was killed. They were all set up to think that it was him. Bruce then tells the Bat Family that Bruce tells Bat-family and Batgirl that he knows who the True King of the Vampires is.
Many months later, the Vampires take control of the Earth and almost all of the heroes have been turned into vampires. The other remaining heroes such as Batgirl have hidden away. Kryptonian were found after Dick Grayson ordered his commander to kill every one of them. They had a meeting t how to fight back and regain the Earth Batgirl wanted to kill King vampires but Green Arrow wants to free the people of Smallville and from the Blood Farm and Doctor Fate. They plan to get Supergirl into the sun to charge her up enough to clear the smoke. Then, they will divide and execute their plans.
Dick spent time with Starfire telling her his Dream accomplished but his desire the most is for her to bite down her neck and drink her blood. He notices that Barbara is there while she waits to strike to take him down but catches her asking her if it is you who is unsure kiss her and then bite her neck however it is only a nightmare. She heard a knock at the door and saw John Constantine Burn through his body. She asked him what happened. He can't remember all he knew was that his memory was erased. He wanted one thing: ask her to go to Gotham and kill Dick for all of us. Before she goes, she gets Harley Quinn from Dr. Strange and they fight and save Harley. She, Harley, Black Canary, and even Frankenstein are already in Gotham to take down the vampire king. They need to find a past though a heavy hitter has been guarding Harley leading them in the tunnel it has been blocked with no other way they had no other choice but to take the risk when Damian Wayne stepped in and gave them word that it was suicide if spot them, he got a plan.
Barbara and the heroes almost arrive at Gotham but Black Adam sees them approaching the city. He charges at them. Damian asks for Barbara and the heroes to wait for a moment until he gives the Batman signal to Batwoman. Starfire burns Back Adam, who falls into the water. Dick sends everyone to retrieve her, but she flees to recharge under the sun. The heroes finally arrive in Gotham and go through with their mission to end Dick's reign of terror. Before leaving, the team encounters Punchline. Both Batgirl and Punchline question the other if they side with the Vampires on this side of the war. However, both former adversaries admit that neither of them serves the King. Instead, Punchlines runs a business on the black market. Batgirl and the team take the cell and ask Punchline how long they have to stay there. She wants one thing in return for releasing them - to get them to kill her business rival. She refuses to kill Punchline, knowing that she won't do it, and one of the team will have to do it (which means Damian will be the one). Once the job is done, they are released, but Harvey Dent is dead. Damian knows that Punchline has a plan, and Barbara doesn't need to do her part. He freed them for that reason, the other reason she can't trust him after what he had done to kill a person. Those two argue when Frankenstein breaks them up, and she pulls out the Bat-Signal and turns it on. Everyone looks at it is giving a sign of a chance of fighting back.
At the end of the Issue 12, Batgirl is bitten by Nightwing and turned into a Vampire at the end of the comic.
Despite slaying vampire Nightwing, since he sired her, she became a monster no better than him as she became the Vampire Queen.
