~ Barbara Gordon after becoming Batgirl. |
Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl, is Batman's (former) love interest and one of the two tritagonists (alongside Alfred Pennyworth) of The Lego Batman Movie.
She was voiced by Rosario Dawson, who is best known as Mimi Marquez in the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, RENT and also played Laura Vasquez in Men In Black II, Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Film Universe, Gabbie in Haunted Mansion, and Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.
Profile[]
Although she’s new to being a superhero, Batgirl is every bit Batman's equal as a crime-fighter. They may disagree about the rules and methods, but Barbara Gordon’s experience as a police officer and her desire to protect Gotham City make her the perfect partner when things get tough and villains are on the rise. She might even have a few things to teach the Dark Knight about busting bad guys.
The LEGO Batman Movie[]
She appears for the first time at the farewell party of her father, where she is introduced as the new commissioner chief. She says to everyone (including Bruce Wayne) that the new changes they should implement in Gotham City should include teaming up with Batman, but her speech is interrupted when the Joker infiltrated it with his minions to surrender himself. She suspects he's up to something, but decides to take him and the others in anyway. After some interviews with Batman, she sees that Batman is heartbroken, so she says that the interviews are over and she leaves.
The next day, she sees that Batman is watching the Joker and the others in the Arkham jail. She wants him to find out what Joker's plans are, but Batman refuses to help her and escapes. Hours later, she finds Batman again and she tries again to convince him to team up together. Batman and his son Robin (with the Phantom Zone's Projector) accept the offer, but Barbara sees Robin has the Phantom Zone's Projector and tries to get it out, but Batman and Robin run away with the Phantom Zone's Projector and they go to the Joker's cell where Batman uses it to put the Joker in the Phantom Zone. Because of this, she has to lock him and Robin up, and tells him that when she was a girl, she wanted to be like him, but now she doesn't because of his selfishness, which makes Batman feel ashamed.
Moments later, she sees on TV that Joker came back with the help of the other villains from the Phantom Zone and that they were destroying the city. Barbara frees Batman and Robin on the condition they cooperate with her, which Batman angrily accepts, and the two head out with Robin and Alfred. Through working together, they manage to defeat many of them together, including managing to destroy Sauron after she saved Alfred from falling. They take a moment to celebrate their collective success and take a selfie, but Batman becomes heartbroken again due to being reminded of his parents, so to keep them safe, he decides to seal Robin, Barbara and Alfred in the Batmobile and send them away while he does the the rest of the work alone.
Later, when Batman ends up in the Phantom Zone, Barbara and the others go backs to Bruce Wayne's mansion and they plan out an attack. Meanwhile, he makes it back and comes to their rescue. When Barbara was about to leave, Batman apologies for his selfishness and reveals to everyone that he did what he did because his greatest fear was to be part of a family again, which he didn't want to lose again. After forgiving him and assuring they aren't going anywhere, Barbara helps him alongside Robin and Alfred again, they team up with Joker older minions (Including Bane, The Riddler, Catwoman and others) and they make a plan to get all of the Joker's allies back to the Phantom Zone. They succeed at doing this, but they fail to stop Joker's bombs from going off, and the explosion begins to tear the city apart at the plates beneath it. However, Batman convinces Joker to help him by telling him he gives him purpose to be the hero he is, and with the help of every civilian and villain, they manage to save Gotham, chain-linking themselves together to reassemble the plates.
Now that everything is back to normal, Batman decides to go back to the Phantom Zone like he promised to face the consequences of his earlier behavior, but before this, he reveals to Robin that he is really Bruce Wayne. This surprised Barbara, after which she sadly wishes him goodbye. However, he then gets rejected by Phyllis, the Zone's gatekeeper, who chooses to let him remain after realizing he is a hero and seeing how much he had changed to save everyone. They then give the villains a 30 minute head start, and she becomes a family with Batman, Robin and Alfred.
