~ Batman to Alfred on protecting Gotham with his new allies.
Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, is the titular main protagonist of the 2024 Amazon animated series Batman: Caped Crusader.
Like most depictions of the character, he is the son of the late Thomas and Martha Wayne. After losing both of them to a robber who shot them when he was a child, he swore an oath to make the criminals of Gotham pay, enlisting his butler and guardian Alfred Pennyworth to his cause in the process.
He is voiced by Hamish Linklater, while as a child he is voiced by Santino Barnard.
It has only been two years since Bruce Wayne began fighting crime as the masked vigilante Batman and the citizens of Gotham City are still deciding on whether the Caped Crusader is good, bad, or even real.
Appearance[]
As Batman, Bruce wears a costume that consists of a grey bodysuit with a bat emblem on the chest area. He also has a yellow utility belt where he keeps his gadgets, as well as a black cape and mask that leaves his mouth and chin exposed, with the ears on the mask being slightly longer and more pointed than other depictions of the character to better resemble his first appearances in comics.
As Bruce Wayne, he is a well-built handsome man with grey eyes and black hair that he keeps slicked back.
Personality[]
Bruce Wayne puts on a facade of being a cliche rich boy who poses as a stuck-up womanizer. The truth, however, is that Wayne is a highly intelligent person who acts that way in order to not draw suspicion to himself.
When he is out as Batman or alone with Alfred, Bruce is very serious and aloof. Despite claiming to Harley Quinn that he's no longer bothered by his parents passing, this could not be farther from the truth. The death of his parents greatly affected him and put him on the path to becoming Batman, so that no one else would have to go through what he did. Despite being unfriendly and serious most times, he does care for others, especially Alfred. When he thought the Gentleman Ghost killed him, he showed great sadness and was relieved when he found out he was still alive, telling him he cannot continue being Batman without him. He also goes out of his way to help protect James and Barbara when a hit is placed on the latter.
He usually had a strict discipline about his emotions, being able to feign aloof happiness in public and remaining fearless when acting as Batman. However, he had an emotional vulnerability with the death of his parents, since when a reporter made a disparaging victim-blaming remark about his mother, Bruce punched him hard, despite being in public. Although, when undertaking his court ordered therapy under Dr. Quinzel, Bruce resumed and maintained his facade of pleasant indifference, which the psychiatrist was able to sense, but was unable to penetrate his mind to determine anything true.
Batman seemed somewhat awed by Catwoman, however, he was unreceptive to her flirtations and temptations.
When fighting Natalia Night, he was holding his punches, even though she had super strength, since she was a child, reflecting that he showed unconditional compassion to children. Despite Natalia nearly killing a few orphans with her powers, and accidentally killing her brother, Batman was understanding as it was from her condition that she didn't choose and could barely control. Natalia opted to die in her one weakness of sunlight, but Batman shielded her from it, and encouraged her to keep on living for the chance of a cure and a better life, thus he could offer optimism for children, despite lacking it himself.
By the season one finale, he has slowly begun to open up to Alfred and the others, becoming allies with Barbara, James, and Renee, stating although the odds aren't in their favor when it comes to fighting crime with them, he'll take them. He's even started to call Alfred by his first name as opposed to "Pennyworth", showing a close bond with the Butler.

Trivia[]
Before Hamish Linklater was cast as Batman, Kevin Conroy, who voiced him prior many times in animated media, was set to reprise the role, but unfortunately passed away before recording started.
This version of Batman is, basically, a re-imagined adaptation of the character's original Golden Agecounterpart.
