Biography[]
Batman & Dracula: Red Rain[]
For the last few days, Bruce Wayne has had a recurring dream of being intimate with a sensual woman he does not know. He is unsure what to make of the dreams but continued to dwell on them while he patrolled the streets of Gotham City as Batman. The city had been victim to a string of unusual murders as of late, in which people had their necks slashed in a particular fashion. Batman was not having much luck in stopping these crimes until one night he managed to engage with one of the perpetrators and discovered that they possess superhuman qualities, as the murderer was able to overpower Batman before they literally vanished into thin air. Bruce returned to Wayne Manor for some rest and came to realise that the murders were being committed by real life vampires upon having another dream about the mysterious woman revealing herself to be one.
The next day, Bruce woke up feeling different than usual. Entering his garage, he accidentally tore off the door handle to his car then lifted the vehicle with no strain or effort. As Batman, he met with a bookkeeper named Ariane to learn more about vampire lore and visited a cemetery to find that the murder victims have dug out of their graves. He tracked them into the sewers where the sewage ran red from the blood of those unfortunate enough to be captured and feasted upon by vampires. Despite his newly increased strength, Batman was unable to fight off the sheer amount of vampires he was faced with and was almost overwhelmed when a group of people suddenly emerged from the shadows and drove them away by firing their crossbows. Bruce was then approached a woman named Tanya who he recognised as the same woman from his dreams. He was told that she led a group of vampires called "The Others" who have appeared in Gotham City to assist him. But before they could speak further, a monstrous bat creature swooped down from above and tried to force the group into shooting themselves, demonstrating some sort of power over them. Batman tackled the monster to let them escape and drew a crucifix using his own blood on the wall beside him to ward it off.
Too injured to continue fighting, Bruce returned to Wayne Manor for some rest when he is soon awoken by Tanya lying against him in his bedroom. Tanya confirmed that she was the cause of his increased strength so he could stand a better chance against the legendary vampire Dracula, whom Bruce already encountered as the bat monster in Gotham's sewers. The Others have followed Dracula for years with intent on slaying him, but because they were all victims of him and his kin, the vampire lord still held some control over their actions. Tanya believed that working with Batman might be their best chance to stop Dracula for good before Gotham becomes overrun with vampires.
Sometime later, Batman, Tanya, and The Others meet with Commissioner Gordon at the docks to inform him about Dracula and the truth about Gotham's recent string of murders. Although skeptical at first, Gordon believes their story and intends to alert the rest of Gotham of the danger via press conference. Batman ensures Gordon he has a plan to at least take out Dracula's followers before suddenly collapsing to the floor due to blood loss from his previous injuries. Bruce is taken back to Wayne Manor where he is given a blood transfusion to restore his health before Tanya leaves him with a warning that Dracula has taken his friend. Believing this friend to by Alfred, Bruce immediately races downstairs to find him finishing a phone call as vampires suddenly break into the manor. Bruce makes quick work of the invaders before he learns that the friend Tanya was referring to was Commissioner Gordon and heads back to the sewers as Batman to rescue him. Finding only Dracula's followers, Batman decides to put his plan for them in action and, with the help of The Others, leads them through the catacombs beneath Gotham until he reaches the Batcave. He then triggers a powerful explosive and destroys a portion of the cave to expose all the vampires inside to sunlight, burning them to ashes. Meanwhile, as part of the plan, Tanya sacrifices herself in a attempt to pull Dracula into the sunlight when another explosion destroys Wayne Manor to ensure no vampires beneath it escape.
Bruce survives the blast by taking shelter inside a strong metal casing but even Wayne Manor's destruction was not enough to stop Dracula as Bruce spots him fleeing the scene. He goes to meet Alfred at the heart of Gotham where they have set up a living quarters full of equipment to continue Batman's crusade. Alfred expresses concern that it might not be enough to defeat Dracula without the Batcave's resources but Bruce reveals that the power he received from Tanya has caused him to sprout batwings from his back and flys off as Batman determined to bring Dracula down once and all. Batman confronts Dracula inside a tower where Commission Gordon was being held and proceeded to fight each other in the skies above Gotham as a thunderstorm brewed around them. Lightning strikes a telephone pole beneath them, leaving a sharp stump in its place as Batman struggles against Dracula's overwhelming strength and is unable to stop the vampire lord from biting into his neck. However, as he is drained of his blood, Batman stabs Dracula with a silver Batarang and forces him through the sharp stump below, ending the monster once and for all at the cost of Bruce's humanity. Batman collapses afterwards as Alfred arrives to assist him, and seven days later it is revealed the Dark Knight has become a vampire himself. He assures Alfred that although Bruce Wayne has been declared publicly deceased, Batman will live forever to protect Gotham City.
