Biography[]
When the planet of Krypton faced annihilation, the Kryptonian scientist Jor-El put his only son Kal-El inside a rocket and jettisoned him into space with hopes of finding a new home. The rocket eventually crash landed on Earth where it's occupant was discovered by Thomas and Martha Wayne during their trip to a governor's campaign party upstate. The Waynes adopted Kal-El as there own, giving him the name Bruce and raising him to be a kind-hearted and intelligent young man. Although Bruce's upbringing was a sheltered one, he would find companionship with the family butler Alfred Pennyworth who accompanied him in walking around the estate gardens as they had plenty of conversations together. Bruce's life revolved around the love he shared with his family but one night, after seeing the movie Zorro at the Monarch Theatre, a gunman ambushed them in an alley and gunned down Thomas and Martha right in front of Bruce's eyes. The boy broke down in tears before the gunman fired on him as well, only for the bullets to have no effect as Bruce looks up at him in fury and suddenly fires lazers from his eyes, burning the gunman alive. Authorities would later find the gunman's corpse, identified as Joe Chill, burnt almost beyond recognition, although this did nothing to ease Bruce's pain as the years followed. He remained in his family's estate of Wayne Manor with no interest of exploring the outside world which he felt held nothing but violence. However, He was eventually forced to face that violence again at the age of 21 when a pair of muggers broke into the manor and held Alfred at gunpoint. Bruce quickly knocks one of the crooks back then grabs the other as his eyes begin to glow with heat, but he was able to refrain from frying him by torching the fireplace instead. The muggers fled as Bruce remembers what happened on the night of his parents murder and realised he could have used his strange powers to save them. He looked to Alfred for answers and was taken to the caves beneath the manor where Thomas kept journals that detailed everything about Bruce's life along with the rocket he was found in. As Bruce peeked into the books, he could hear bats making noises as they flew overhead and suddenly took flight himself, embracing his powers while feeling inspired to become a dark protector of innocents who soared through the night skies.
Two months later, Bruce Wayne made his debut in Gotham City as a masked vigilante known as Batman when he stopped a mentally unstable gunman from firing at city citizens. News of the mysterious vigilante's actions soon caused a media frenzy, with much conjecture and exaggerations being made about him. Meanwhile, Bruce appeared at his family's corporation, Wayne Enterprises, to prevent it from being bought out by corrupt businessman Lex Luthor and assert control over the company after years of playing a limited role in its operations. He then turned his attention to the Gotham Gazette with intent of using it to further improve the city. He hired former Daily Planet chief Perry White to lead a team of the country's finest reporters, one of them being Lois Lane who Bruce takes a particular interest in. While patrolling as Batman, Bruce spots Lois being harassed by Lex Luthor in his limo and thrown to some street thugs when she rejects his advances. Batman swooped in to save her from the thugs in a display of brutality that disgusted Lois, and was pushed away when he offered to help her off the ground once the threat was neutralised. Bruce Wayne returned to the Gotham Gazette afterwards to find Lois Lane writing about her encounter the city's new superhero, criticising him for his aggressive use of violence. She confined in Bruce about what happened to her on the street and expressed disappointment in how Batman was using his powers, believing he could do so much more for the world than beating criminals into submission.
As weeks go by, Bruce Wayne's efforts to help the city through the news and his company caused a romance to blossom between him and Lois Lane. He also worked tirelessly as Batman so he could find a way to expose Lex Luthor's corruption. However, Lex eventually appears at the Gotham Gazette to announce his rebirth as the Joker and kidnaps Lois after shooting Bruce out of a window storeys high. Bruce uses the fall to become Batman and easily catches up with Lex only to hear screams of terror all across the city as an army of Luthor's mercenaries move in to take control of Gotham. All the suffering enraged Batman, causing him to throw Lex from a lethal height, but upon seeing Lois look towards him in sadness, Bruce has a change of heart and quickly saves Lex before taking him to jail for his crimes. Batman then gets to work on single-handedly dismantling the villain's army, destroying tanks, blowing up airships, toppling motorcyclists and saving civilians until the city was safe from anymore damage. He later meets with Lois Lane who noticed his actions in saving the city were not done out of anger or hate towards criminals, and believes he can really make a difference in the world by setting an example as a symbol of hope. Bruce believes he cannot be this sort of hero as Batman, so he changes his identity to become a hero who can, Superman.
