The Battle Force 5 is the main protagonists of the Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 cartoon series. They are a group of car racers consisting of Vert Wheeler, Agura Ibaden, Stanford Isaac Rhodes IV, Spinner and Sherman Cortez, and Zoom Takazumi. At the end of season 1, it is revealed that Battle Force 5 was part of a Sentient legend, namely, as they were called in the legend, "The Five", in which Vert is described as "one with the fire of their spirit." The group was founded in 2009.

Main Members[]

Vert Wheeler[]

The leader of Battle Force 5. After finding his way into a Battle Zone, Vert rescues Sage from the hands of the Vandals. Sage later upgrades his old red car into a new one named the Saber, being the first car that is a hybrid of Earth and Sentient technology. It can transform its front end into a series of powerful bladed weapons with buzzsaw attachments, has small wings on the sides that rotate vertically, and features a rotating cockpit that can rotate 180 degrees and can support the weight of another vehicle. Vert also wields a double-edged sword and has a pair of special goggles that function as a mini-computer. Vert is part of a legend called The Crimson, as Sage had sent him back in time to give Zemerik free will so that he could rebel against Krytus and destroy the Double Helix Crystal that froze the Red Sentients. While always up for a fun time, his experience of past events has taught him to take things seriously when the situation calls for it. He has to constantly lecture his team on their flaws (especially Zoom and Stanford), but he trusts them no matter what.

Agura Ibaden[]

Special Operations Officer, second in command. She is descended from an African princess, making her and Stanford the only members connected to royalty. Her vehicle is the Tangler ATV (called just the Tangler), an all-green vehicle. It can fire grappling hooks and has grinding blades on the front, can also transform its front wheels into claws for grappling or climbing and has small retractable blades on them. Her predilection is referred to as being in no way weak and/or especially defenseless. Initially antagonistic towards each other, Agura and Stanford become friends after helping each other in the Ice Battlezone.

Sherman & Spinner Cortez[]

They are twin brothers who provide the team's technological and tactical support. Spinner is the older, shorter brother, who acts immature, and is an expert in computer hacking skills and hand-eye coordination. Sherman is the younger, taller brother, who is stronger, more level-headed, and intelligent. Their vehicle is the Tank Buster (also called Buster), a blue, six-wheeled tank that is armed with a massive chain-spinning turret that can also rotate 360 degrees in the cockpit, giant retractable mace-spikes on the sides, a special vehicle ramp on the back that is used to help launch the other team's vehicles when in battle, an afterburner for extra momentum, and an automated targeting system called the "Sherminator 3000 Targeting System". It can also fire multiple projectiles and is built to ram. It also features a built-in ramp for jumping off of the other cars, most notably Saber and Chopper.

Stanford Isaac Rhodes IV[]

The artillery expert and a British prince, 188th in line to the throne. He is a sound expert and loves to party. He apparently has experience working as a disc jockey, as he comments about once working at a club in London. His ride is the Reverb, a purple sports car with a massive sound system that can fire powerful blasts of sound from the bottom, sides, and rear, as well as from giant retractable cannons on the hood called the Sonic Artillery. The sound system is also used in the Battlezones as an echo-map that locates enemy positions and keys. He has a distant ancestor who once explored the multiverse. Stanford has a brother named Simon Ian Rhodes II, who really gets on his nerves because he is better at everything than Stanford. Due to his royal roots, Stanford tends to be arrogant but is not used to doing things for himself, and becomes insecure when he makes a mistake, but he later learns independence and becomes more reliable as time goes on.

Zoom Takazumi[]

The scout of the team. The youngest member of Battle Force 5 and is a skilled Muay Thai fighter from Bangkok, Thailand. He is athletic, restless, and curious. He dislikes being called "kid". He also looks up to Vert as an older brother, which leads to trouble when he imitates him early on. His vehicle is the Chopper, a yellow motorcycle whose wheels can split to transform into propellers for near-limitless flight, which can double as melee weapons, and has a cable he uses to latch onto other vehicles to take off. His helmet is equipped with scanning devices to aid in his scouting duties and can be adapted to allow him to breathe underwater. Zoom was originally a chosen guardian of the Order of the Flying Fists, an elite school of martial arts warriors, but he abandoned it for a new life in the outside world. He also had a feud with Zen, who came to make Zoom give up being a member of Battle Force 5, but he understands why Zoom does this and decides to leave in his conquest to protect the Earth.

Other Members[]

Sage[]

A Blue Sentient, advisor to Battle Force 5, and twin sister to Krytus. She can transform into a small dodecahedron to hibernate, and became the last Blue Sentient due to Rawkus' intervention. She can fire an electric shock to stun enemies and levitate. Later, Sage upgrades her systems and gains a "friendly" sense of humor. When her memory is fully restored, she gains the ability to modify Battle Keys. Sage has a weak telepathic connection to Krytus, which she uses to locate him, but refrains from communicating with him to prevent him from finding Earth's coordinates. She was unaware that she possessed the lost minds of her race within her subconscious. Since Vert, Zoom, and Rawkus were the only ones who knew, they could not say anything. In "The Crimson One" and "Blast from the Past", she sent the BF5 into the past to make sure history unfolded the way it was supposed to. In "Better off Red", it is revealed that Sage was in the process of creating a weapon that will be used against an enemy even more dangerous than her brother and the Red Sentients. In "Unite and Strike", she is killed by Kyburi, but downloads her mind into the BF5's vehicles, so that they can use it to restore her race and herself. She later assists in creating a new peace with the Red Sentients and banishes her brother, becoming a member of the Council of Five in the end.

Tezz Volitov[]

Joins in the fifth episode of season 2. A Russian scientific genius and expert in Electromagnetism. During an experiment, an unexpected reaction between his device and the vehicle created a portal, bringing him to a Sentient moon. He fought the Red Sentients as the only rebel there. Tezz is brought back to Earth by Stanford, where he receives his armor and vehicle upgrade. His vehicle is the Splitwire, a copper muscle car resembling a Lamborghini Countach and one of the two backup vehicles. As it is powered by electromagnetism, it can levitate and adhere to metal surfaces, and use electricity for combat. It is the second car that is a hybrid of Earth and Sentient technology. As it also had parts of the Zentner before the upgrade, it may be the only car on Earth that combined Sentient technology and Sark technology. He also wields a gauntlet (glove when in his armor), which can emit electromagnetic fields. Tezz prides himself on his intelligence, which tends to make him arrogant, and he seems to clash with Stanford. Underneath it all he is a very capable man, who accepts the group as his "less intelligent" family. He calls himself a student of Sentient culture, as he has knowledge of both races from artifacts and hieroglyphics on the Sentient moon.

A.J. Dalton[]

Joins in episode nine of season 2. He is a survival expert. His vehicle is the GearSlammer, the third car that is a hybrid of Earth and Sentient technology, a white truck with a snowplow, a tripe grinder, mechanical arms, and a crane on the back. GearSlammer is considered a backup vehicle.
