Benjamin Kirby Tennyson (simply known as Ben) is the titular main protagonist of the 2016 reboot series Ben 10.
He was a normal ten-year-old kid until he found the Omnitrix, a powerful watch-like device that allows him to turn into ten different aliens. Though immature and clumsy, he uses the Omnitrix to stop evil, but that doesn't stop him from using it for his personal needs.
Like the original Ben, he is voiced by Tara Strong.
Appearance[]
Ben wears a black and green T-shirt with the number 10 on the top left corner, dark green cargo shorts, blue boxer shorts, black low profile sneakers, and white socks. His eyes are green, and his long hair is brown. He wears the Omnitrix around his left wrist.
In Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie, Ben wears a green, gray and white Omni-Naut Armor suit with green neon bands while arriving to space.
Personality[]
Ben is childish and cocky and likes to have fun. He doesn't like to do lots of cleaning. His reckless behavior sometimes leads to consequences, such as Ben awakening the Hydromanders when splashing on Niagara Falls as Cannonbolt. Besides his childish behavior, Ben is heroic and caring, willing to help, and save anyone in need.
Ben is not into as many fandoms as Gwen and usually teases her and geek culture. Despite his brattish and indifferent demeanor, Ben by far is anything but ignorant; having guessed straight away just what exactly child star Michael Morningstar truly is by just a few glances.
Ben is afraid of squids, more specifically, tentacles. He has grown the courage to use them as Gax, but the fear is still there when he's a human.
Ben can be bored very easily and is not good at math.
Abilities[]
- Adaptability: Ben is able to rapidly adapt to any situation he may be confronted with, proving that regardless of which alien the Omnitrix gives him, he always comes out on top.
- Fluent in Language: Ben can speak French fluently
Equipment[]
- The Omnitrix: A powerful device that allows Ben to transform into 10 different aliens with a variety of different skills and powers.
- Omni-Enhanced Forms: Because of a malfunction caused when it was recalibrated by Upgrade, the Omnitrix allowed Ben to transform into "Omni-enhanced" versions of the aliens through the use of energy-based forms like Shock Rock.
- Omni-Kix Armors: Upon the acquisition of the Omnitrix Key, the Omnitrix can provide its aliens with Omni-Kix Armors. By twisting the symbols on their bodies, the alien forms will be armored in robotic suits boosting their natural abilities and adding new powers.
- Omni-Nalt Armors: The Omnitrix can provide its aliens with Omni-Naut Armors. By twisting the symbols on their bodies another time, the alien forms will have their Omni-Kix Armors reformatted into special robotic suits that allow them to survive in the space.
Trivia[]
- Ben is 7 seconds younger than Gwen.
- Ben does not believe camels and reindeer actually exist.
- The biggest adjustment Tara Strong had to make in voicing this version of Ben is that Ben is not as mean to Gwen as his Classic Continuity counterpart.
- Interestingly enough, despite being a kid, when Ben transforms into an alien, his voice sounds completely like that of a grown up man, just like his other counterparts.
- The first alien Ben has ever turned into was Heatblast.
- Ben's winter outfit is the same as Ben's occasional appearance in Omniverse, but it lacks the green 10 logo, the cuffs are white and has an extra pocket on the torso.
- Ben's flashback outfit is a direct reference to his original series outfit.
