| ~ Audrey Drew upon meeting Bendy. |
Bendy, colloquially referred to as Cartoon Bendy, is the titular deuteragonist of Bendy and the Dark Revival, and the main protagonist of the Bendy cartoons in the Bendy franchise.
He is the good side of the Ink Demon that is a near-perfect duplicate of the cartoon character of the same name created by Henry Stein and Joey Drew.
Bendy was synthesized from the Ink Demon by Wilson Arch and confined to a section of the Cycle, where he would eventually be found by Joey's "daughter" Audrey. Despite a disastrous first meeting, he would go on to befriend her and help her escape the Cycle.
Appearance[]
The fictional-fictional character he's based on resembles that of an old-fashioned cartoon character: having a black and white color scheme, cartoonish gloves, and a cheerful-looking expression (which apparently never changes). In addition to this, the top of his head resembles cartoony "horns", he wears a white bow tie, and sports black shoes. His eyes are in a pie-cut style, resembling that of an old, 1920s cartoon character.
Cartoon Bendy is basically identical to the character he's based on. He is a cartoonish black-and-sepia demon with gloves and a bow tie. Unlike his inspiration, Bendy is fully clothed, wearing a buttoned cardigan, black striped and patched pants, and black shoes.
Outside of the Cycle, his face and gloves have turned from sepia to white. His cardigan is now blue with yellow buttons, as are the smaller stripes on his pants, his bow tie is now red and his shoes have silver splotches on it.
Personality[]
Unlike his in universe cartoon and comics portrayal and his evil ink demon self, Bendy is more timid, kindhearted, and adorable. At first being scared of Audrey but later becomes friends with her helping her in her journey to the Cycle.
History[]
Bendy and the Dark Revival[]
Wilson and the Keepers captured the Ink Demon and forced him into a harmless persona called Bendy based on the cartoon character of the same name. He was still tortured and later imprisoned until Audrey appeared and tried to befriend him before using her powers to accidentally transform him back into the Ink Demon. Bendy avoids Audrey in the later half of the game until Chapter 4 where he befriends Audrey and helps her get information to enter the Gent building. However when Audrey returns she sees that Bendy is gone. Later when the Ink Demon returns, the signal towers affects them and causes the Ink Demon to become Bendy again who flees in shame. Bendy would later show up again in the ending of Dark Revival in color in the real world alongside Audrey.

Trivia[]
- Bendy's gloves originally sported three darts similar to those of Mickey Mouse, while both index fingers have a different shape. This was revealed in the demo prototype, seen in cutouts, posters, and an earlier cartoon clip. In the more recent versions of the game, the darts are replaced with a pair of buttons while tweaking the index fingers' shape. This is to make Bendy more unique when set against those other characters.
- King Dice from Cuphead uses the same two-dot glove design in his boss fight, most likely a coincidence.
- Bendy's official month is October.
- Bendy's appearance is most likely based on an amalgamation of cartoon characters such as Felix the Cat, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse from the 1920s. He also appears to have some influences from Max Fleischer's characters, such as Bimbo.
- His name and personality likely were inspired by the one-time character of the same name from the American animated television series Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Like the Bendy from this game, the Bendy from the aforementioned television series was a troublemaker.
- Seen in all known cartoon shorts, Bendy's horns are drawn to always appear in the same style no matter which way he is facing, the same way as the position of Mickey Mouse's ears.
- His horns also resemble Mandy's hairstyle from the American animated television series The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
- The head of the Don't Starve character Webber in his "Elegant" Gladiator costume bears the exact shape of Bendy's own head.
- The head of the final boss Grimm / Nightmare King from the game Hollow Knight's DLC bears a striking resemblance to Bendy's.
- The head, the bowtie, and the body of the character Woz from Wozwald also bear a surprising resemblance to Bendy's.
- Despite the Ink Demon's insistence that he will consume Audrey throughout the game, Bendy seems to have no intention to hurt her, and also appears ashamed when Audrey sees what he used to be, quickly walking away, which shows they have a split personality between the two.
- While Toon Bendy in Bendy and the Ink Machine was depicted as nude, (save for his gloves, bow-tie, and shoes), he has had accessories that befitted the plot of whatever short he's in (like a hula skirt in "The Dancing Demon" or a fire chief hat in "Hellfire Fighter"). Keeping that in mind along with the split personality, Bendy's full attire in this appearance could very well be a spoof of Dr. Henry Jekyll from "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", which was a popular concept retold in many real world cartoons.
- The clothing might've also been given to him to hide his scars, as Keepers Log 44 reveal that the sides of Bendy's body had been cut with lengths of steel wire to test his ability to feel and express emotions in response to physical pain. The fact he cried tears of ink and screamed in discomfort without transforming back into the Ink Demon was considered "progress".
- Lauren Synger, the voice actress for Alice Angel and Allison Angel, claimed that Audrey's voice actor Erin Lehn had jokingly nicknamed this version of Bendy "Baby Benders".
- Considering that nickname, and the way Audrey herself speaks gently and motherly to Bendy every time she approaches him, acts as a subtle hint that Audrey has the opposite opinion of Bendy then her father, Joey Drew. Joey, in his own book, described Bendy as a young adult, and intended to use the little demon as a means to make money, but ended up locking him away when his Ink Demon form via the Ink Machine was considered an abomination that would scare away visitors to Bendyland. Audrey, on the other hand, approaches Bendy like a frightened little kid that needs a friend, and has come to accept the demon in all forms, (despite having to hide from the Ink Demon to survive), to the point of telling Beast Bendy "we'll just have to do better next time" before resetting the Cycle.
- It might also reference the fanbase's love for this Bendy, calling him cute and adorable due to his personality.
- When Bendy is accompanying Audrey during Chapter 4, attacking him with the Gent Pipe causes his head to spin around like a globe with a cartoonish sound effect.
- Also when accompanying Audrey, Bendy will point to items of interest to find the clues needed the enter the Gent workshop, but also towards the intractable door in the back alley for the purpose of an achievement.
- Originally, Bendy was planned to talk via squeaks, but this was believed to be too distracting and the suggestion was scrapped soon after to make him completely mute instead.
- Until the V1.0.3 patch, there was a visual bug where Bendy's holiday hat would be visible during the ending cutscene of Chapter 3, regardless of whether or not the Winter Abyss mode was activated.
