History[]

Overview[]

Benjamin Carmine was one of the four Carmine brothers, and joined the Coalition of Ordered Governments army along with them. His brother Anthony was killed during the Lightmass Offensive, and the Carmine family regarded him as a hero for his role in the Offensive. His other two brothers, Clayton Carmine and an unknown one, were also actively serving the COG.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Benjamin Carmine was born around 4 B.E. to unnamed parents, and is the younger brother to Clayton, Anthony and an unnamed brother. When the Locust Horde invaded, Ben was only a child as his brothers joined the Coalition of Ordered Governments Army to fight against them. Once he reached the age of eighteen, Ben joined the COG since the Carmine family had a long ties to the military, and were expected to join.

Gears of War 2[]

Once he completed his training in the COG's academy, Benjamin was placed on the frontline to join Delta Squad as Marcus Fenix's trainee. Depending on the player's choice, Fenix can help Benjamin train, or can order him to stand guard in front of the hospital (which is considered non-canon). Carmine received training from Fenix, who taught him to the "Golden Rules of the Gears", and thanked Dom Santiago when he express his sympathy for Anthony's death. After his training was done, Fenix ordered Carmine to remain at the drop off until he called him. The Locust Horde soon arrived and attacked the hospital, and Ben fought them until he decided to hide after he had trouble reloading his weapon. He was soon found by Fenix, Dom and Tai Kaliso, with Marcus telling the rookie that he did a good job.

Ben and Delta Squad participated in Operation Hollow Storm, with the unit being assigned to an assault derrick driven by Dizzy Wallin and fended off the horde. While fending the rig and preparing to go down below, Ben, Dom and Fenix witness Tai be attacked by the priest Skorge but couldn't leave their pods to help him. Carmine's pod went off course, but he managed to meet up with Echo-Five, but they were soon killed when the Locust Horde arrived. He was saved by Marcus and Dom and the trio met up with August Cole when they were looking for Tai and the COG officer Tanner. The group then rescued Damon Baird and Tai, but the latter committed suicide due to the torture he went through by the Locust. Delta then traveled to the extraction and made to a Raven, but they were eaten by the Riftworm, a creature that the Locust were using to sink cities.

Delta survived being eaten, but Carmine was separated from them and was attacked by Nemacytes, who proceeded to wound him with their acidic spikes. He was saved by Marcus and the squad, but died from injuries before telling Fenix to tell his family that he loved them. Though his body was left inside the Riftworm, Marcus obtained his COG tags from his body alongside a letter written to Clayton.

Gears of War 3[]

Ben appears in the opening of Gears of War 3 in Fenix's dream, and his brother Clayton had engraved his and Anthony's name on his tattoo. Ben and Anthony's death were avenged once the Locust was defeated by Marcus killing Queen Myrrah and his father Adam, with the latter using an imulsion countermeasure to stop the horde.

Gears 5[]

In Gears 5, Del Walker and Kait Diaz come across Ben's helmet, and Walker mentions that Clayton spoke fondly of his brother Ben.
