He is portrayed by Owen Morgan.

Cobra Kai[]

Season 1[]

After watching Miguel Diaz defeat Kyler and his gang in the school cafeteria, Bert, along with several other teenagers, join Cobra Kai. He's among a few students who doesn't quit after being scolded by Johnny Lawrence.

Bert is later seen with Miguel, Aisha, Hawk, and Demetri at a park. He and Hawk had a quick spar with each other, only for Hawk to easily knock Bert out. Later that day, Bert assists his friends of throwing a party at a canyon, where Yasmine is suppose to have her birthday party there.

In the morning of the All-Valley Karate Tournament, when Aisha and Hawk wonders where Johnny is since he hasn't showed up, Bert tells them that Johnny is not coming because the previous night, he (who was buying a magazine after leaving the party) saw Johnny peeing in his car. Shortly, Johnny arrives at the arena. Bert has participated in the tournament, only making it to the preliminaries. He unexpectedly loses to his opponent, who is a lot bigger than him, prior to the quarterfinals. He watches the rest of the matches. He and the rest of the students celebrates Miguel's victory after he defeats Robby Keene in the finals.

Season 2[]

Bert still remains in Cobra Kai. Johnny switched him and the rest of the students to white belts. During a training session where students must mix concrete in the cement mixer, he is one of the few mixing concrete, and watched Miguel, Hawk, Mitch, Chris, and few others pushing the cement drum together.

He's later seen hanging out at the beach with Miguel, Hawk, Demetri, and Moon, playing volleyball and later participates in the All Valley Fest with his classmates. He's present when Daniel LaRusso confronts Johnny and accuses him trashing his dojo which results in several students (including Chris and Nathaniel) defecting to Miyagi Do and when Kreese takes over while Johnny is out of town.

Bert, along with his Cobra Kai friends, attends Moon's party, welcoming Stingray when he arrives. When the fight at West Valley School between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do occurs, Bert fights Miyagi-Do and former Cobra Kai student, Nathaniel. During their fight, Bert breaks Nathaniel's glasses through a kick. In response, Nathaniel tackles him to the ground and punches him repeatedly until both of them were taken away by a security guard.

Season 3[]

Bert returns to school two weeks after the fight. He, Hawk, and Mitch have a confrontation with Nathaniel, Demetri, and Chris. Shortly, Counselor Blatt arrives and asks if everything is okay before the rivals walk away.

During a session at the Cobra Kai dojo, Kreese brings in a hamster, and asks Bert to give him a name. He names the hamster Clarence. Kreese then shows a snake in his class and orders Bert to feed the hamster to it. When Bert refuses to, Kreese kicks him out of the team along with several students who also object. Kreese then feeds the hamster to his snake.

Bert, along with Miguel (who has recovered from his injuries), Mitch (who was kicked out by Kreese for losing his spot to Kyler during the latter's tryouts), and a few others that were rejected, joins Johnny Lawrence's new dojo, Eagle Fang Karate. While training, Bert and Eagle Fang are shocked to find out that the upcoming All Valley Tournament was cancelled, but Miguel was able to convince the council to let the tournament continue.

One night, Bert and the other Eagle Fang's are invited to Samantha LaRusso's house, where she suggests that both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do must start working together to take on Cobra Kai. Although Bert and the rest of the students are against this, but when Demetri makes a speech about how they should work together to take on Cobra Kai, they agree on it

Bert hears a meow from outside and checks if a cat wants to come in. When Sam reveals that her family doesn't have a pet cat, Bert is violently thrown through window and the meow was turned out to be a trap set up Cobra Kai, who used Bert's soft side for animals as a trick through Kreese's orders. Bert and the others are attacked by Cobra Kai led by Hawk and Tory Nichols. At first, they initially struggle, but eventually gain the upper hand when Hawk has a change of heart and decides to switch sides, helping Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang defeat the Cobra Kai's.

Sometime after the fight, Bert and his Eagle Fang friends show up at Miyagi-Do as Johnny and Daniel prepare to work together to train their students for the upcoming All-Valley. Having befriended each other and ended their rivalry, Bert and Nathaniel shake hands as training begins.

Season 4[]

Bert, along with the other students would listen to Johnny and Daniel's speech about Cobra Kai. Bert and Mitch would spar, but Daniel interrupts them for throwing punches at each other, saying that Johnny didn't teach any defense, and Mitch at one point would tell him that "best defense is more offense", letting Bert kick Mitch twice as he was talking with Daniel. Eventually, Bert and the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang help clear out space at the Miyagi-Do dojo after Hawk came up with an idea to build an Okinawan sparring deck like the painting and the two dojos were able to create it. As Daniel and Johnny agreed to train their dojos with a different style, Bert and the Eagle Fang students would train with Daniel.

At school, Bert and Nathaniel, who were discussing their plans for the upcoming junior prom, encounters Kenny Payne in the bathroom. They insult Kenny Payne for his affiliation with Cobra Kai. When Kenny was about to punch them, he is stopped by Hawk, who warns Kenny about Cobra Kai and tells him to leave if he still can. Bert and Nate were also at the drive-in where they almost get into a confrontation between the Cobra Kai's, Eagle Fang's, and the Miyagi-Do's, which results in Miguel pranking the Cobra's with sprinklers.

Once things start to escalate even further between both sensei’s, with Daniel and Johnny having a 1984 rematch where the winner will take over the training. Bert and Nate watches the fight among the crowd. The fight results the sensei's knocking each other out and no winner is declared. After an argument between the sensei's, the plan for both dojos to work together comes to an end, with Bert leaving with Eagle Fang.

When Eagle Fang learns that the All-Valley committee will implement a girls' division, Bert suggests that he knows a girl from the school's debate team, but Johnny rejects the idea. Through Moon's recommendation, they choose her ex-girlfriend, Piper Elswith, but when Eagle Fang wonders where she is, they are shocked to discover through Miguel's phone that she and her friends joined Cobra Kai as they managed to recruit them first. Bert is later seen at the school's debate with Miguel and Johnny, who meets up with them. They watch Devon Lee rip her opponent's book. Realizing she's the girl Bert suggested and impressed with her personality, they recruit her to the team. Devon begins training with Eagle Fang for the tournament. On one occasion, he is kicked in the groin by Devon. After the session, he, Mitch, and few of their classmates are upset with Miguel for being a co-sensei.

Bert attends junior prom with his date and unexpectedly, runs into Stingray. He asks Bert if he can rejoin Cobra Kai. Bert, however, says that he is no longer with Cobra Kai and is currently in Eagle Fang. Stingray looks surprised and tells him if it's true that prom afterparty was cancelled, which Bert complied "yeah", resulting Stingray to have him tell everyone that he host the prom afterparty at his sister's house, in which he does.

Bert would later participate in the All Valley Karate Tournament, where he once again only makes it to the preliminaries and loses to an opponent, who is bigger than him, but he was able to land a hit on his opponent. Nevertheless, he continued to watch matches. Despite Eagle Fang being eliminated from the tournament, he joins Miyagi-Do after Daniel and Johnny reconcile and team up for Sam and Tory's match.

Season 5[]

Bert is at the water park with Devon, Mitch, and a few other Eagle Fang's relaxing in the pool. However, a clash between the Eagle Fang's, Miyagi-Do's, and Cobra Kai's resulted them and everyone else being kicked out of the park.

Bert is also with Nate and Chris where they catch Mitch eating a brownie from Cobra Kai's new location at a strip mall, causing him to put down the free snacks and leave with the group. Later, both Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang students (including a redeemed Robby) begin training with Chozen Toguchi. He gives each student an egg as well as time to hide. Although they initially struggle at first, Bert, and the rest of the crew, work together as a team and beat Chozen at his own game thanks to Anthony LaRusso's skills in Dungeon Lord.

Later, Bert, along with Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do, go to the Cobra Kai dojo for the Sekai Taikai qualifications. When Samantha LaRusso easily wins the girls match, the organizers are impressed and let Miyagi-Do qualify, causing Bert and the rest of them to celebrate. He later attends the afterparty at Miguel's apartment.

After finding out about Silver bribing the referee at the All-Valley and beating up Stingray to frame Kreese for the crime, Bert, Miguel, Sam, Hawk, and Demetri goes to Stingray's house to have him tell the truth. Stingray refuses at first, but he managed to explain Silver's plan through a Dungeons and Dragons scenario (which he names Dungeons and Dojos).

Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, along with a redeemed Tory, arrive at the Cobra Kai dojo to find evidence on Silver. It turns out the video of Silver beating up Kreese was removed and Tory and the group decided to use the video of Terry confessed his bribery to Tory days earlier. However, Cobra Kai students arrived to confront them. Kenny and Kyler reveal that Mitch rejoined Cobra Kai and tipped them off the Miyagi-Fang's plan to break into the dojo. Bert and the other's are shocked at this and he asks on why Mitch would do this. After Mitch explains his reason to turn against the Miyagi-Fang's and going back to being a Cobra Kai, a fight later breaks out. Bert and the rest of the Miyagi-Fang were able to work together to hold off the army of Cobra Kai students while Anthony uses Demetri's tablet to upload the video of Silver's confession to Tory through the dojo's TV.

Daniel and Silver then show up and they both face other in a fight, resulting in Daniel winning, defeating Silver.

Season 6[]

At Miaygi-Do, Bert is sparring with Nate, Chris, and Devon. Shortly, Mitch arrives, having rejoined Miyagi-Fang after quitting Cobra Kai. However, they are upset over Mitch's betrayal but make up with him after he promised not to make any more heel turns by showing his half Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang shirt he's wearing.

Following the Sekai Taikai announcement and their reveal of selecting 6 fighters to compete, Bert and his classmates continues to train in order to earn a spot. Before the tournament, Mike Barnes has the students undergo rigorous training processes. After the first session, Bert is not one of the twelve students to move on to the next round. He then watches the tiebreaker race between Hawk, Demetri, Kenny, and Devon in the woods. While the 4 are racing, Bert uses the bathroom and when Kenny arrives after he gets constipated during the competition, he tries to get Bert to leave so he can use it. However, because Bert wasn't fast enough to leave the bathroom, Kenny gets diarrhea and embarrassed in front of everyone before Bert gets out and Kenny rushes inside. As a result, Kenny and Hawk gets eliminated while Devon and Demetri earns a spot.

Later, Bert watches the captain’s match between Miguel and Robby first and then Sam and Tory, which resulted with Robby’s victory and Sam earning the position after Tory leaves the team and presumably quits karate following her mother's death and Hawk takes her spot. With training over, Bert remains in the valley with several of his classmates while Johnny, Daniel, Robby, Sam, Miguel, Hawk, Demetri, and Devon heads to Barcelona to compete in the Sekai Taikai.

It was also revealed that Stingray had tried to get Bert to testify on his behalf during his legal issues with Terry Silver only for the effort to fail and for Silver's to lawyer drop all charges against him.

Bert, Nate, and several of their classmates watch the Sekai Taikai semi-finals at the LaRusso house with Anthony and Amanda LaRusso. However, they witness an all-out brawl between all dojos with Bert and Nate wishing they could’ve been there to help Miyagi-Do by sneaking into a plane in a random person’s luggage. The fight ends with the death of Cobra Kai student, Kwon Jae-Sung, much to everyone’s shock.

Fighting Style[]

To be added.

Trivia[]

  • Bert is the first Cobra Kai student to be removed from the team.
  • Owen Morgan, his actor, is in fact a real life karate black belt.
  • He is best friends with Nathan Oh in real life, and have known each other prior to the show, which is somewhat ironic, that in the show, they seemingly hate each other until the third season where they become friends
