Beryl Gardnant is the titular main protagonist of the fantasy adventure light novel, manga, and anime series From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman.

He is a middle aged man who worked as a former before embarking on a journey as a swordsman. He has also been a teacher for swordsfighting for the past couple of years.

Appearance

Beryl is a middle aged man muscular build. He has of short and brown color with a white part. He has a white bandage wrapped around his forehead. He has a light stubble beard. His outfit as an adventurer is a white outer robe with short sleeves. It is orned with black trim and simple geometric designs on his arms. Under is a dark inner shirt. He has a wide red-and-black sash wrapped around his waist, tied in a knot with loose ends hanging down.

He wears baggy pants of deep green color. It is tucked into knee-high brown boots. His hands wear black fingerless gloves.

Personality

Despite his immense strength and skill, Beryl is humble, dedicated to teaching others, and protects people. He is selfless and mentorial. He nurtures future champions, fostering their potential with patience and wisdom. Many of his pupils go on to earn great acclaim, yet he credits their success to their own efforts rather than his influence. Despite his unmatched abilities, he views himself as just an ordinary middle-aged man, shaped by a simple upbringing and past regrets.
