Tsunagu Hakamada, known professionally as the Fiber Hero: Best Jeanist or simply Best Jeanist, is a supporting character in the My Hero Academia franchise.

He was the number three hero operating in the nation of Japan and the most popular one. His quirk, Fiber Master, gave him the power to manipulate fibers on an extremely finite scale. For his dedication to fashion, Best Jeanist won numerous awards.

Hakamada is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa in the Japanese version of the anime and by Micah Solusod in the English version. Solusod has also voiced Soul Eater Evans in Soul Eater, Touma Kamijou in A Certain Magical Index, Akito Hyuga in Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, and Yuno in Black Clover.

Biography[]

Best Jeanist is the current 3rd-highest (formerly 4th) ranked hero in Japan, a stylish individual who takes pride in his work. He believes heroes should maintain a positive appearance, both physically and socially, in order to inspire peace in society.

During the Field Training Arc, he took in Bakugo as an intern in order to teach the teen how to properly present himself as a hero, which yielded the expected results. After the Hideout Raid Arc, he was forced to take a temporary hiatus from hero work after All For One's attack cost him a lung. Despite this, he ends up moving up a rank, from fourth to third, in Hero Billboard Chart rankings due to his actions during the Kamino Ward Raid.

His Quirk is "Fiber Master", which grants him the ability to manipulate the fibers that make up clothing.

Personality[]

Tsunagu is an elegant man with flamboyant tendencies. He believes very strongly that people with influence must maintain a positive appearance both physically and socially. Tsunagu often uses metaphors referencing jeans, denim, and various other sewing and fabric based phrases, often inspiring his recruits with speeches, telling them to keep their life straight like their jeans.

Tsunagu admits to being unfond of brutish individuals like Katsuki Bakugo. He took Katsuki on to try to fix his attitude, only to be frustrated by the young man's stubbornness. Tsunagu takes the role of being a hero very seriously. He is selfless, brave, and charismatic, and aims to spread a sense of a peace to all people and believes that no matter how dire a situation may be, a real hero doesn't believe in making excuses. He did not hesitate to take the full brunt of All For One's attack to save his allies, something the latter praised him for.
