Big Ben
“ | Oh now Rudy, don't be frightened by that overgrown chicken hehehe. Most folks call me Big Ben hehehe. Look what I can do: (rings the clock on his tail). | „ |
~ Big Ben introducing himself to Rudolph |
Big Ben is a giant blue sperm whale who works for Father Time and one of Rudolph's closest friends. He appears in the 1978 Christmas special, Rudolph's Shiny New Year and again in its sequel, Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July the following year. In the first film, he helps Rudolph find Happy, the baby new year and transports him to different locations via the ocean. In the next film, he finds a distraught Rudolph on a beach and asks to be of help. Rudolph tells him that Frosty the Snowman is going to melt soon, so Ben swims to South America to pick up Jack Frost and save Frosty. Ben is a gentle giant who enjoys laughing at the end of almost every sentence. He has a giant clock on his tail which goes off every hour on the hour. He is named after Big Ben, the giant clock tower in London.
He was voiced by the late actor Harold Peary.
Trivia[]
