Billy
William, better known by his nickname Billy, is an orange tank engine in Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. He is Charlie’s brother.
Thomas was asked by Sir Topham Hatt to show Billy around. But Billy misconstrued Thomas' advice for bossiness and so refused to listen to him, causing Billy to fail to complete his deliveries. At last, Thomas lost patience and told Billy to do his own thing. Billy was delighted, but his happiness was short-lived as he swiftly ran out of coal and water. In future, Thomas towed Billy to be refilled with coal and water and Thomas explains that he did not try to be bossy and that he gave him advice since he knew how to do the jobs, causing Billy to finally learn to listen to others and work correctly, when they finishing the job, Billy apologized to Thomas, admitted that he had fun working with him, and they became friends.
