Birdman is the overarching protagonist of Alberto Vasquez's 1st full-length animated feature Birdboy: The Forgotten Children.
He was the father of the titular Birdboy as well as the keeper of the lighthouse on the island. Following a nuclear explosion from one of the island's factory, the lighthouse was shut down, causing him to lose his job. Under the alias "Birdman", he, along with a group of other birds, attempted to revive the island by planting magical seeds. However, when officials were observing the lighthouse, they mistook the magical seeds for drugs. Believing that Birdman was smuggling drugs, they shot him down and killed him, whilst also cutting down any surrounding trees he's planting, undoing his work.
Appearance[]
Like his son, Birdman is an anthropromorphic bird with white feathers and a spherical head with black beady eyes and a small black beak, though he also appears to be balding.
Personality[]
According to those that had known him, Birdman was a kind and well-meaning man that cared for his son. He also seems to take great care in the conditions of his island, as following the destruction of the factory, Birdman attempts to bring life back to it by planting magic seeds all around.
Biography[]
Birdman was once the keeper of the island's lighthouse, one of its most crucial landmarks, as it allowed sailors to navigate around the surrounding oceans while fishing. All the while, he took care of his son, who at the time was still an infant.
Following the destruction of a nearby factory however, this caused the destruction of much of the island's wildlife and industries. This would force officials to shut down the lighthouse, putting Birdman out of a job. He would then adapt the "Birdman" persona, and with a slew of birds, plant some magical seeds that he had found all across the island in an attempt to revive it after the incident.
However, due to stigmas surrounding a rise in drug dealing on the island, the leader of the officials had presumed the seeds to be drugs, and had them try to kill him for it. One day, The Sergeant shoots Birdman in the head, killing him.
