She first appears on the Chrysler Building in the opening; she then appears at an art gallery, complimenting Spider-Man. Spider-Man asks if the goons he took down are hers, and then she says no, then leaves. Spider-Man then gives chase. Black Cat stops for a moment, asking if Spider-Man always chases girls who brushes him off, then she jumps off the building, escaping, later on, an alarm at a jewelry store happens, Spider-Man spots Black Cat leaving it, assuming she has stole jewels, he then chases her again.

After Black Cat stops, she reveals that she didn't steal jewels, then introduces herself to Spider-Man, then leaves again; later on, when Spider-Man finds out that Mary Jane is dating John Jameson, Black Cat finds Spider-Man, accusing him of spying on MJ, she then tells Spider-Man that there is a whole ring of the art thieves Spider-Man fought earlier. She happened to find their hideout. Black Cat says she could show Spider-Man if he could take a break from the peeping tom routine. That is, Spider-Man agrees, then they get to the location; Black Cat spots a statue that the thieves have and expresses interest in it. After Spider-Man and Black Cat took down the thugs, Black Cat takes the statue and leaves, which Spider-Man assuming that he has been had by the Black Cat, later on, after John Jameson reveals that MJ agreed to marry him, Spider-Man on a rooftop thinking about it, depressed.

Black Cat returns, asking what John Jameson's superpower is; Spidey says that he threw a football on the moon, and Black Cat suggests Spider-Man to find someone more his speed since MJ seems easily impressed. When Spider-Man feels more depressed that he's getting love advice from her after she took the statue, Black Cat reveals that she gave the statue to the police and was just having some fun with Spider-Man, then asks Spider-Man why he is bothering with a normal girl since normal in her point of view is boring, Spider-Man then tells her that normal is half his life, at least it is supposed to be. Black Cat asks him why he could be a superstar instead of a schmoe, then tells Spider-Man to forget it and that she was going to tell him about Shocker, but he is obviously busy sulking; Spider-Man then asks her about Shocker. Black Cat tells him that he broke out prison a while back and he is back in the city. Spider-Man tells her to show him where he is; Black Cat gladly accepts it and tells him that defeating will make him feel better; they both get to the warehouse where Shocker is hiding, and they go in.

Shocker is surprised that Spider-Man found him but tells him there is no way he is getting him this time; Black Cat tells Spider-Man that they take out Shocker, and they fight; during the fight, Shocker's henchman shows up, but Black Cat keeps them busy. Spider-Man and Black Cat are winning the fight; Shocker realizes this, knocks out Black Cat, and then escapes. Black Cat tells Spider-Man that she is okay; he just caught her off guard and that she will be ready for him next time. Black Cat tells Spider-Man that she has things to do, then leaves later on. When Spider-Man becomes enraged due to J. Jonah Jameson ruining his reputation, Black Cat is seen on top of the Daily Bugle building, asking Spider-Man where the fire is. Spider-Man reveals his intentions to Black Cat. Black Cat tells him to calm down, and tells him that he needs to loosen up have more fun and that he is a superhero; he swings in New York City right in covered tights and tells him that the point is, here he is, powers far beyond any mortal men, and he is pounding on a rooftop. Spider-Man agrees with Black Cat and asks what she has in mind; she then tells him that she did find Shocker again and is dying to get revenge on him. Spider-Man agrees, and on the way, they encounter Shocker's henchmen; they take care of them and then eventually make it to Shocker's location, which is an old Oscorp research lab. Black Cat then finds another way inside, they get in to confront Shocker again; Shocker reveals that he setup a trap. Shocker has a shield now; during the fight, Spider-Man and Black Cat go to two separate control panels to turn off the shield to fight him; they repeat the process a few times until Black Cat finds a way to get rid of the shield for good.

They then defeat Shocker, Black Cat asks if it was as good for him as it was for her. Spider-Man admits that Black Cat is right and that he feels much better. She then tells him to stick with her and he will be fine and to come see her next time when he is feeling down; she then leaves; later on, Spider-Man meets Black Cat in the Chrysler Building. Black Cat asks Spider-Man what took him so long, then tells him that this life is so much more fun, she can play hero if she wants, but when she doesn't feel like it, Spider-Man then says that she doesn't understand, and she knows why he can't do this. Black Cat then tells him about other heroes' backstories and explains to him that it doesn't matter; what matters is the present, what's done is done, and he will have to live by the present. Spider-Man refuses; Black Cat then says fine, don't cheer up, Spider-Man supposes that she has something to get his mind off his problems like usual. Black Cat tells him there is something at the warehouse on the west side near the convection centre; something big is going down. Spider-Man and Black Cat then race each other there; the winner of the race depends on whether the player wins or loses; either way, the story continues; they then approach the deal, and it turns out to be an auction with thugs with big mechs. Black Cat then reveals herself and Spider-Man to the thugs; they then fight and defeat the thugs and the ones in the big mechs. Spider-Man is angry at Black Cat for blowing their cover, calling it totally irresponsible; Black Cat's point is it was more fun her way, Black Cat then leaves Spider-Man, telling her to excuse her for getting him to enjoy himself for once, Spider-Man then meets Black Cat a building, Spider-Man tells Black Cat that doesn't think he can see her anymore, telling her that he is not like her, that he can't live the life that she does, and that his powers came with a responsibility and that he needs the balance of a normal life, being Spider-Man is who he is but being just him, that is who he is too.

Spider-Man then asks Black Cat if they can still be friends, Black Cat then tells him to don't sound so subjective, and that once she crosses his path, she is not easy to get rid of, then tells him to go find Mary Jane, and that this is what he wants and that he finally started listening to her, Spider-Man then thanks Black Cat, Black Cat tells him that she will see him around, Black Cat is never seen again after this, though she is presumably still stopping crime but never happens to cross paths with Spider-Man.
