Blossom Utonium, better known as Blossom and also known as Momoko Akatsutsumi in Japanese, is one of the three titular main protagonists of the Powerpuff Girls Z anime series (alongside Bubbles and Buttercup).
Like her original counterpart, Blossom is the self-proclaimed, selfless and genius-level intelligent leader of the Powerpuff Girls. Her alter-ego is Hyper Blossom, and her primary weapon is a pink yo-yo.
She was voiced by Emiri Katō in the Japanese dub and Nicole Bouma in the English dub.
Appearance[]
Blossom is a beautiful and cute young girl with fair skin, large pink eyes, and ankle-length ginger hair held back in a ponytail with a large red ribbon. As a civilian, Blossom wears a white shirt with a yellow heart graphic and pink and red striped sleeves, as well as a denim skirt, and shades of pink sneakers and white socks. She also wears her white transformation belt with a pink compact, and a ring with a comparable pink design to her compact, at all times.
In the later episodes, her civilian attire changes to a white shirt with a dark pink heart design and light pink sleeves over a magenta dress, and brown boots, still retaining her transformation-based belt and ring.
As Hyper Blossom, she wears the standard Powerpuff Girl-esque outfit in her signature coloration, pink, consisting of a dark pink one piece suit with a black trim, light pink cropped and sleeves varsity jacket with a 'P' graphic on the left side, a dark pink short skirt with black linings at the edge of her skirt to cover her bottoms, fingerless gloves with white and pink linings, and pink shoes. She also wears a black choker with a gold 'P' design, and her transformation belt, and wields a pink yo-yo.
Personality[]
Like her original incarnation, Blossom's ingredient of personality is "everything nice." Reflecting this, she is a selfless, benevolent and sweet, yet genius-level intelligent girl who typically retains her promises and has a pure heart. Being heavily outgoing, Blossom is the leader of the Powerpuff Girls and the oldest of the trio. Blossom is strong and mature and makes a majority of the girls' strategies when fighting crime.
She is also protective and loyal of her sisters, Bubbles and Buttercup, and will assist them if either of them are in danger. Aside from being strong and smart, Blossom never gives up and is determined to stop her enemies at all costs. However, she is not above of punishing one of her sisters when either of them have gone too far in their actions.
Blossom is known to have a love for foods and candies with high sugar, but when she does not have sweets for a long amount of time, she will get heated, but she more than just one method to calm herself from anger. She has a strong dislike for greens, most commonly vegetables. Blossom is also bit boy-crazy, and plans to get married in her future. She tries her best to protect New Townsville/Tokyo City from villainy while leading the girls. She is often heavily clever and crafty when required, who is the first to trick or defeat monsters/villains. Unlike her original counterpart, Blossom can be quite quick to anger, however; this is when only she feels insulted.
She can occasionally be selfish and insensitive with other people, like in the episode, "Happy Birthday New Townsville," where she does not take advice on the cake for Ken, and does not mind his opinion on the matter, even brushing aside the concerns of Buttercup and Bubbles. Additionally, in the same episode, she displays a hypocritical attitude to get infuriated towards Mojo Jojo for stealing the cakes of the people, despite to the fact of performing the same actions with Ken's cake. Nevertheless, Blossom is capable of recognizing her mistakes in the end and attempts to amend them.
