This leads Bobert to not have many friends as He was a member of the Reject Club along with Colin, Felix, and Ocho. He doesn't wish to have an upgrade and instead prefers to be accepted for the robotic companion he is, as seen in "The Upgrade" and is is overjoyed to be accepted as this when Gumball claims they'll 'Grow obsolete together" at the episode's end. In "The Agent" he is more expressive and human-like. He asks for his arms to be returned and he is direct towards Gumball. He is quite innocent, not knowing what love or certain other emotions are. Notably he takes words literally. Though his programming can lead to him occasionally harming people overall he is a caring and quite heroic robot in most episodes, like in "The Photo" he tries to help Gumball get an tan with his laser eye however when this causes his friend to catch fire he rushes of to get a fire extinguisher to help him. Sometimes he is brave, protective and helpful. He hugged Gumball and Darwin and is one of their only friends to be invited into the Watterson home. He has saved Gumball's life at least three times
