Biography[]
Boruto is the first and only son of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyūga. He was born approximately three years after the Fourth Shinobi World War. On one peaceful morning during the wintertime in Konoha when he was a child, Boruto and his younger sister, Himawari, were seen embracing their father and starting a snowball fight, along with their mother.
Years later, on the morning of Naruto's inauguration as Hokage, Hinata asked her two children to wake their father up and when Himawari was unable to do so, Boruto proceeded to yell and jump on their father, effectively waking him up. While getting ready to go out, Boruto and Himawari got into an argument about taking her stuffed panda toy to the ceremony, which escalated to the toy being ripped in half.
Despite Boruto's apology, Himawari, in her anger, awakened her Byakugan and began attacking him. Naruto quickly rushed in to see what all the commotion was about and tried to calm Himawari down, however she refused to listen. When Naruto stood in front of Boruto, Himawari knocked her father out by hitting his tenketsu in a single strike, making Boruto flee throughout the house in fear.
Epilogue[]
After a day in the Academy, Boruto told his classmates that he would show them a prank. The new generation of Ino–Shika–Chō tried to convince him not to pursue it because a five Kage Summit was about to commence; he replied that being able to pull off a prank despite the heightened security would prove their talent as shinobi. In the end, none of his peers joined in on his prank, though an intrigued Sarada Uchiha did follow and observe his handiwork: defacing the Hokage Monument statues with red paint, as his own father had once done. Knowing that his father would come to punish him, Boruto prepared to ambush him with a well-timed shuriken throw, but was stopped when Naruto suddenly appeared using the Body Flicker Technique. While reprimanding Boruto, Naruto recognized that his son was lashing out in an attempt to get his attention, and explained that he has to be a father to everyone in the village, so he can't always give Boruto as much attention as he would like. He asks Boruto to endure this hardship, because true shinobi are "those who endure".
Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring[]
Upon hearing that he and the rest of the class would be going through graduation exams in a week, Boruto went off to vandalize his father's Hokage statue to instigate a round of tag as well as a training session with Naruto using his shadow clones. With Sarada watching and helping Boruto extend the length of the game, Shikamaru Nara arrived and ended the game, much to his annoyance.
Later, Boruto was sent by his mother to deliver a lunch to Naruto for his trip. To Boruto's annoyance, the Hokage had already left. While Boruto was content with just leaving it at that, Sarada and Chōchō suddenly appeared, with the Uchiha insisting that they would give it to the Hokage. While Boruto was reluctant, Sarada insisted to do it on the grounds it was made by someone who loves Naruto. Seeing how important this was to Sarada, without asking why, Boruto agreed to let the kunoichi do as she pleased.
After Sarada returned, Boruto thanked her for delivering the lunch, only for Sarada to thank him for giving her the opportunity to figure out what she wanted to do with her career. When he asked her what it was, Sarada answered to become Hokage, an idea Boruto only scoffed at.
Boruto: Naruto the Movie[]
After becoming a genin, Boruto is assigned with Sarada and Mitsuki to Team Konohamaru. They are given a mission to capture a panda, but gets into an argument with Sarada over whether it is a regular panda or an aggressive bear that looks like a panda. Boruto shows off his prodigious talents by using multiple shadow clones with ease, which earns him praise from Mitsuki but a scolding from Sarada for being reckless. After the bear is caught, Boruto reacts in amazement when Konohamaru gives them a demonstration of his Kote and uses it to launch a Rasengan, which ends up veering off course and destroying a farmer's house, much to the local's anger. When they report to Naruto, Boruto gets into an argument with his father when Naruto asks his son to address him as "The Seventh" rather than "Dad".
Angered that his father is still spending more time working, Boruto reminds Naruto that it's Himawari's birthday and he better be at home or else Boruto will never forgive him. Afterwards, Boruto meets up with Katasuke, who gives him a new software for his video game and asks Boruto if he would be taking part in the Chūnin Exams, which Boruto says that he will not. Boruto then joins Shikadai Nara and Inojin Yamanaka to play video games before Mitsuki and Sarada arrive shortly afterwards. Sarada informs him that the Chūnin Exams are coming up and she wants him to take his training seriously so that she can get closer to her dream of being Hokage. Boruto angrily retorts that if she wants to become Hokage, she better stay alone otherwise it will cause problems for those around her, which causes Sarada to realize that Boruto is simply acting out because of the lack of time he gets to spend with his father.
Sarada encourages Boruto to take the Exams with them so that they can show off their amazing skills to Naruto. Boruto then asks Sarada if her father will come to watch the Exams, to which she says that she doubts it. While briefly discussing Sarada's father, Mitsuki says that he was told by his parent that Sasuke is the only person to be able to fight equally with Naruto, which causes Boruto to question Mitsuki about his parentage. Before Mitsuki can reveal to them who is parent is, Hinata and Himawari show up to pick Boruto up so that they can go home to prepare for Himawari's birthday. At his sister's birthday party, Boruto was happy when his father was seemingly able to make it home; however, when it turned out to be shadow clone, he became angry and heart-broken when he thought that his father did not care about their family.
He lashed out at his mother, who tried to calm him down and reassure him that Naruto does love them very much. He rushed upstairs and wandered into his father's room and finding his father's old, tattered uniform, he threw it out of the window in his anger. After hearing the doorbell chime, Boruto rushed downstairs, thinking that it was his father and answered the door, ready to punch him only to find that it was Sasuke Uchiha instead, who was asking if Naruto was home. After Sasuke had a brief conversation with Hinata about Naruto's whereabouts, Boruto realizes who Sasuke is and is instantly impressed by him. Later on, that night, while Sasuke is walking home from meeting with Naruto, Boruto attempts a surprise attack on him, however Sasuke instantly sees through it and confronts Boruto.
Boruto begs Sasuke to make him his apprentice as there was someone that he wanted to defeat. Sasuke asks him if he can use the Rasengan, which he replies that he can't, so Sasuke tells him to learn it and then come and see him. That same night, Boruto goes to Konohamaru's house and demands that he start training him in how to use the Rasengan. After a few days of training, Boruto is finally able to create a Rasengan and shows it to Sasuke. Although Sasuke is impressed with Boruto, when he tells him that the Rasengan is small, Boruto mistakes this as Sasuke telling him he failed. Becoming frustrated, Boruto throws the Rasengan and runs off. Because of this, Boruto believes that hard work doesn't bring results, as he tells Katasuke. While comforting him, Katasuke entices Boruto to use the Kote to create the Rasengan, telling him that by using it, he will be able to surpass his father. Boruto agrees to use it without hesitation.
Sasuke takes Boruto on as his student and prepares him for the Chūnin Exams so that Boruto can impress Naruto. While taking a break from their training, Boruto asks Sasuke about Naruto's weaknesses and Sasuke elaborating about the hardships Naruto endured to become Hokage intrigues Boruto. The first round of the Chūnin Exams required the teams to answer a true or false question. After answering the question, Boruto and his teammates find themselves falling down a pit with a lake of ink at the bottom. Boruto is saved by Sarada from falling into the ink when she uses a kunai to pin him to the wall by his clothes. Mitsuki deducts that anyone who falls into the ink is disqualified regardless of if their answer. Boruto feels hopeless when he realizes he would have been disqualified if Sarada had not intervened. After winning the first round, Boruto was annoyed with Naruto congratulating him via email, leaving him more desperate to anything to win his father's recognition. Progressing to the second round, they are forced to compete against other teams for flags.
While Sarada and Mistuki leave to attain other teams' flags, Boruto stays behind to defend their flag and is attacked by another another genin. Boruto resorts to using the Kote when he was overpowered by genin's shadow clones. He is able to defeat them by using Water Release and Lighting Release on his opponent and he and his team are able to pass the second round. Sarada hugs Boruto once they regroup and then tells him that his eyes are even bluer than his father's, which makes him blush. Boruto returns home that evening and is congratulated by his mother and sister for passing. As he sits in his room, Boruto starts to feel guilty about using the Kote. Naruto enters his room shortly afterwards to personally congratulate him on passing the second round. Naruto attempts to initiate a fist bump with his son, but Boruto doesn't return the gesture since he didn't want to risk his father discovering the Kote on his arm and simply smiled at him.
After Naruto left, Boruto smiled happily with tears in his eyes. In the third round, Boruto was matched against Shikadai and won after cornering him with multiple Shadow Clones. However, Naruto noticed that Boruto wore a Kote that stores ninjutsu techniques on his forearm and was disappointed that Boruto has been cheating throughout the exams. He takes his son's forehead protector, deems Shikadai as the winner, and disqualifies Boruto, telling him they will talk when they get home. Angry, Boruto berates him for giving him a lecture when Naruto is never home and therefore doesn't understand that a lecture from his father is something that Boruto wants. Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki appear soon after and start attacking the arena, causing massive chaos. Boruto tries to fight Momoshiki with his device only for Momoshiki to absorb all of his attacks, leaving him scared and defenceless, however Naruto jumps in to protect his son just in time.
They are then joined by Sasuke and Sarada. When Sarada shows fear at Momoshiki's impressive display of his strength, Boruto creates a Shadow Clone to protect Sarada. While trying to defend themselves as well as well as all the people evacuating, Naruto ends up sacrificing himself to protect Boruto, Sasuke, and Sarada from Momoshiki's jutsu and asks Sasuke to take care of Boruto. Before Naruto disappears, he turns to smile at his son and Boruto calls out to him before falling unconscious. When he wakes up, he finds that his mother, is being healed by Sakura Haruno due to her attempts to save Naruto. Feeling guilty for how he treated his father, Boruto wonders into his office and finds his father's old jacket and puts it on, and Sasuke comments how idiotic he looks compared to Naruto. Sasuke gives Boruto his former forehead protector to wear and Boruto decides to go with Sasuke to rescue his father. Teaming up with Sasuke and the four other Kage, they teleport to the dimension where Naruto is being held, and engage in battle upon arrival.
After Momoshiki absorbed Kinshiki, Boruto watched on in awe as Naruto and Sasuke fought against Momoshiki and defeated him. However, Katasuke rushed in and used his device to shoot a barrage of attacks at Momoshiki, which Momoshiki absorbed and used his new strength to attack them, and Boruto is protected by Sasuke from Momoshiki's attacks. While Momoshiki had Naruto and the Kage trapped and was preparing to finish them off, Sasuke ordered Boruto to use his Rasengan to stop Momoshiki and although Boruto was hesitant that his jutsu would not work, Sasuke encouraged him that he can give his best. Boruto is ultimately successful in hitting Momoshiki with his Vanishing Rasengan and thus able to free Naruto and the Kage. With his father's help, Boruto is able to create a giant Rasengan while Sasuke holds Momoshiki off long enough for Boruto to hit him with the Rasengan, destroying him.
As a result, Boruto's right arm is severely burned. After the battle, Boruto and his father are able to reconcile with each other. At some point, Boruto posed for a photograph with Naruto, Sasuke, and the four other Kage. One morning as Boruto prepares to meet with his team and Naruto to head over to his office, the two of them bump fists and encourage each other to do their best. Boruto and his teammates are given a mission to capture the giant panda, which is running loose in the village. Sarada questions Boruto on whether or not he wants to become Hokage now, however, Boruto explains to her that he has no interest in becoming Hokage and instead wants to become a ninja like Sasuke and adds that he supports Sarada's dream of becoming Hokage and he will protect her no matter what, making her blush. Boruto and his teammates then leap into the air from the Hokage Rock, while he prepares to launch a Rasengan.
In the post credits, Boruto and Sarada capture the wild panda and Boruto finally asks Mitsuki who his parents are. Mitsuki replies that he is the son of Orochimaru, which shocks Sarada, who asks if Orochimaru is his mother or father. When Mitsuki says it doesn't matter, Boruto gets angry and demands to know who Orochimaru is.
Personality[]
Much like his father in his youth, Boruto is a brash and energetic boy. Similarly, he appears to exhibit an inclination towards pranks. Like his father, his reason for pulling pranks is also to seek attention; in this case, it's from his father, as Naruto's role as Hokage appears to be draining on his personal life. Like his father and late paternal grandmother, Boruto also inherited a verbal tic: "dattebasa" (だってばさ). Boruto inherited a strong love and compassion for others from his mother, Hinata, though he did not inherit her shyness.
Although Boruto loves his father, his relationship with him grew more complicated as Naruto's duties as Hokage detracted him from spending enough time with his family, which made Boruto feel neglected, as well as resentful of the Hokage title. Boruto occasionally pulled pranks such as defacing the Hokage Rock just to seek his father's attention. Boruto reacted with dismay at the mention of him following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and often felt like he lived in their shadows. As a result, Boruto tended to rebel against his father and would use any means to surpass his legacy.
Due to Boruto never experiencing any of the hardships that both his parents had gone through during childhood, he became quite cocky with his prodigious skills and failed to understand the meaning of being a shinobi. Unlike his parents, who strive to work hard and never give up, Boruto was lazy and lacked the motivation to take his training seriously, even resorting to cheating if it meant getting the task done easier, whether at video games or at life. The overbearing attitude affected not only his shinobi performance, but also his relationship with his team-mates and peers.
However, after seeing his father nearly die, the experience changed Boruto, making him understand the meaning of being a shinobi, and making him respect the title of Hokage and his father. Boruto holds great admiration for Sasuke Uchiha, stemming from the knowledge that he is his father's good friend and rival. Through Sasuke's tutelage, Boruto develops a familial bond with Sasuke and refers to him as "Uncle Sasuke". Inspired by Sasuke, Boruto decided to take the same path as his teacher, wanting to become a shinobi who protects and supports from the shadows.
Despite Boruto often arguing with his team-mate Sarada Uchiha, who in turn finds him annoying, they have a mutual respect for each other that is more civil than it had been for their fathers when they were kids. Initially, Boruto scoffed at Sarada's dream of becoming Hokage, but after discovering the path that he wants to take, Boruto still admitted that although he does not wish to become Hokage, he would support Sarada in achieving her dream and would protect her.
Their status as childhood friends and rivals prompts him to want to look good in front of Sarada, to the point of him being reckless. However, he trusts her to the point where he is willing to follow her advice, and he is willing to try his best in regard to his abilities for the sake of his and Sarada's dreams. While Boruto finds Sarada always watching him annoying, he realises that he has also been watching her with the same curiosity and interest she looks at him with. Being close friends, Boruto and Sarada care very deeply about one another, and Boruto doesn't hesitate to put his own fear aside in order to protect her. It is implied that Sarada has feelings for Boruto, who seems to feel the same way about him.
Boruto's greatest fear is getting scold by the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade ever since he was a child.
For any faults Boruto may have, he more than makes up for it with his dedication to family and friendship. Boruto understands the importance of bonds and cooperation, which he encourages in others; even Boruto himself loses sight of them when he's upset. Just like his father, Boruto is quick to defend anyone who comes from a negative background and tries to see the best in others.
During his three years away from Konoha, Boruto's personality had suffered a drastic change, compared to his loud and outspoken younger self, Boruto had since became quiet, calm, and focused, refusing to let anything or anyone rile him up. Likewise despite the hardships he endured for three years, he still remains determined to resolve things peacefully with Kawaki, focusing on reconciliation, in order to get his life and parents back.
Appearance[]
Boruto appears strikingly similar to his father, with blonde hair and blue, similarly shaped, eyes. Unlike Naruto, however, he has wavy hair which flares out on the sides and back, and an ahoge that which resembles the stem of a leaf. His face has a rounder shape like his mother, and he has two whisker markings on each cheek, which he inherited from his father. Boruto wears a black tracksuit, reminiscent of the orange one Naruto wore for most of the series, with red lining and red stripes along the bottom and sleeve cuffs. Beneath the jacket, he wears a plain white T-shirt and a bolt tied to a string around his neck, referencing his name. He also wears black shinobi sandals.
In The Last: Naruto the Movie, Boruto has lavender-colored eyes, his tracksuit has a red fire symbol on the left breast matching an insignia his mother once wore on her jacket in Part I. Like with the outfits of many Konoha shinobi, the jacket also features a red Uzumaki swirl crest on the back, red stripes along the sides of his pants, worn with this outfit are a pair of flat white sandals.
In the epilogue, Boruto wore a black tracksuit with red lining and red stripes along the bottom and sleeve cuffs. Beneath the jacket, which he wore open and cuts off at the midriff, he wears a plain white T-shirt and a bolt tied to a string around his neck, referencing his name. He also wears black shinobi sandals. In subsequent illustrations, Boruto had worn a V-neck-style shirt and similarly shaped white sandals.
By the time of Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, he wears a longer black tracksuit jacket and has switched out for the style of standard high-top shinobi sandals. In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, he wears with this a black Konoha forehead protector and black open-toed boots. Later on, when he goes to rescue his father, Boruto wears the original orange tracksuit jacket that Naruto wore during Part I, wearing it unzipped. Along with Naruto's jacket, he is seen wearing Sasuke's scratched forehead protector in place of his own. After the battle with Momoshiki, Boruto gained the Kãma that was placed on his right palm. In the Time Slip Arc while in the past, Boruto wore a red vest and a grey long sleeve, he wore as a disguise. In the anime after Boruto's battle with Shojoji, at Sasuke's order Boruto began wearing a fingerless glove on his right hard to conceal the Kãma. After the defeat of Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, Boruto resumed wearing Sasuke's forehead protector. After Momoshiki used the Kãma to save his life after being pierced by Kawaki, Boruto gained a large scar resembling a black geometric Kāma pattern on his chest. He would later gain a scar running down on his right eye from his forehead and cheek when he saved Sarada from Kawaki's assault. The scratched forehead protector that was given to him by Sasuke would also bear a slash to wear his scar. The injury also seemed to leave a small vertical corneal abrasion over the pupil of his right eye.
At age thirteen, a year after his departure from Konoha, Boruto became noticeably taller, his hair had grew longer similar to Sasuke's hair style. He wore a black vest. On his pants, he wears a beige belt. His cloak is dark pink on the inside and has open collars folded downward.
At the age of fifteen, his hair is shorter. He wears a white button-down shirt, black pants, black shin-high sandals, and a black jacket with dark pink ends on the sleeve. His shirt is half-buttoned, leaving his chest exposed revealing his scar-shaped black geometric Kāma pattern and the shirt cuffs are unbuttoned and folded up. Boruto obtained a second beige belts with six silver studs on the top while the lower one has a silver chain hanging off it. His jack has lapel flaps and the sleeves a folded up to his elbows. Also on his jacket, he has three silver pins on his right lapel in the shape of a hexagon, a rectangle, and the sun respectively, and another pin on his left lapel shaped like the Konoha symbol. He also wears a second necklace with a Uzumaki symbol pendant. On his left arm, he wears a simple beige bracelet and a black, fingerless glove. After Sasuke was imprisoned by a Claw Grime, Boruto began to carry his sword.
By the age of sixteen Boruto wears attire similar to the attire he wore when he was younger, he also wears a beige belt the flap hangs loosely, black pants that reach above his ankles with red linings on the ends, regular shinobi sandals, thicker red linings around the ends of the jacket sleeves. He also continues to wear a black glove on his left hand, a black cloak, and a Uzumaki symbol necklace. He also resumes wearing Sasuke's forehead protector.
Abilities[]
Unlike his late-blooming parents, Boruto was recognized as a prodigy by the time he became a shinobi. Before graduating from the Academy, he showed noticeably sharp battle instincts and a degree of taijutsu and ninjutsu proficiency while playing with his father. Boruto proved he inherited his grandfather Minato Namikaze's genius and his father's unpredictability, he scored at the top of his class during the Genin Exams and is viewed as well above the rest of his generation with chūnin-level prowess. As a genin, Boruto is regarded as an elite who excels in all fields of combat. He proved himself capable during the battle with Momoshiki, working with Sasuke to take out one of Momoshiki's Rinnegan with a kunai, he was also. He was crucial in battles against Momoshiki, Urashiki, and members of Kara. His potential is viewed as a threat to the Ōtsutsuki clan. A year after leaving the village, Boruto had come to master every skill and technique Sasuke could pass on to him. Two years later, from Koji Kashin's training he could overpower Code without his limiters, soundly defeat Mitsuki in his Sage Mode Transformation and could instantly subdue Kawaki. He's been deemed a threat to the sentient God Trees after defeating one of their members Hidari.
Chakra and Physical Prowess[]
As an Uzumaki through his father, Boruto has a powerful life force and a large chakra reserve. He is able to create 4 shadow clones despite his chakra being mostly absorbed. In the anime, the snakes of Ryūchi Cave had noted that Boruto has the potential for senjutsu having passed trails that proved his strength of body and could handle natural energy. As the direct descendant of a Hyūga, he possesses the potential to awaken the Byakugan and strongly inherited the power of the Ōtsutsuki. Likewise haven born to a Byakugan wielder, he is able to communicate with deceased Ōtsutsuki spirits. He has very advanced chakra control effectively using the Rasengan after a few days of training while improving on it. And likewise, he can perform one-handed handsigns. After adjusting to his new found Ōtsutsuki state, Boruto became cable to conceal his chakra signature on instinct from others.
Boruto is fast able to quickly get behind his opponents unnoticed. He is skilled in taijutsu and able to perform relentless assaults through coordinated strikes from each of his limbs. As a descendant of the Hyūga clan, he was taught the basic usages of the Gentle Fist, but without the Byakugan, he is unable to target tenketsu, although he is potentially able to through his manifestation of the Jōgan. He possesses considerable strength, able to launch strikes powerful enough to upturn the ground. Likewise, he also can pick up and carry a person twice his size. After becoming a complete Ōtsutsuki after his resurrection, Boruto's physical abilities had noticeably grew, without using the Kāma, he can briefly block an attack from a Kāma-enhanced Kawaki and was easily able to dodge Kawaki's chakra rods, then soon after quickly evade attacks from a blood lusted Mitsuki in Sage Mode. After two-years of training, Boruto's physical abilities has grown even further able to easily land a blow onf a fully awakened Code befroe he could react, instantly knock down Kawaki with a single punch, to which Kawaki had trouble standing up from afterwards.
Ninjutsu[]
Boruto has shown the ability to use high-ranking ninjutsu, despite being only a genin. He's shown proficiency in using the Shadow Clone Technique, which he is able to skillfully switch places between himself and the clone this was before he entered the Academy. He originally needs a line-of-sight distance for the clones and only was able to create 3 clones. Boruto can use his grandfather's technique, the Rasengan, after it was taught to him by his sensei. Just like his teachers were as a child, Boruto's Rasengan is smaller than the average size. Eventually though, he was able to create a standard sized Rasengan after more training and later on was able to use a single hand. He learns to throw it as a projectile or compress it for greater power. In the anime, he'd learned to throw it as a projectile or compress it for greater power. After gaining greater control over Momoshiki's power, he is capable of using the Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan. During the three years from Konoha, Boruto had learned to harness the Earth's natural rotation through his Rasengan, using it to permanently confuse and disorient his opponent to one-hit kills. In the anime, he temporally entered a contract with Garaga allowing him to summon the giant snake whenever he wishes. Likewise, he had also formed a kinship with snakes, able to befriend random snakes to aid him. He can perform Cooperation Ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu able to restrict a person's movements and expand it's might alongside a fellow user. Three years after leaving Konoha, Boruto became proficient in Space-Time Ninjutsu, while not proficient as his grandfather, Boruto can use the Flying Thunder God Technique to even teleport across dimensions.
Bukijutsu[]
Boruto has excellent usage of Kenjutsu as he was able to use a wooden sword while battling Kagura Karatachi on a school field trip and use half of Hiramekarei. Boruto was also has shown that he could effectively wield a new prototype chakra blade created by Katasuke Tōno. Three years after leaving Konoha, Boruto mastered Uchiha Style Kenjutsu, and can dispatch his sword against Code's Claw Grimes with relative ease. After receiving training from Sasuke, he became very skilled in shurikenjutsu, able to change a weapon's trajectory mid-flight and coat his shuriken in Lightning Release.
Nature Transformation[]
Boruto is able to perform multiple nature transformations with Lightning Release as his affinity, able to launch bolts to electrocute his targets. Three years later, he had learned to channel Purple Lightning into his sword to enhance its cutting power. With Wind Release, he can create gust to repel targets. When he was an Academy student, Boruto could simultaneously preform Lightning and Wind Releasee for maneuver like the Boruto Stream. As a genin, he learned Water Release, able to use techniques like Water Release: Splash Bullet. and later the Water Releases: Surging Sea. Three years later, he learned how to channel Purple Electricity into his sword to increase its cutting power. When first learning the Rasengan, he subconsciously applied lightning nature to it (wind in the novel), a feat that most shinobi prodigies couldn't accomplish. Upon throwing the technique, the nature transformation abruptly activates, turning it invisible, tricking the opponent into letting down their guard as sufficient damage is inflicted when it makes contact. In the anime training under Kakashi, Boruto learned to perform the Wind Release: Rasengan, However, it is incomplete, lacking power necessary in comparison to do much more than the normal Rasengan.
Cooperation Ninjutsu[]
Boruto has shown some skill in cooperation ninjutsu through his training with Sasuke. He was able to replicate his master's and his father's feat against Zabuza Momochi, which took out Momoshiki's Rinnegan to prevent him from absorbing anymore ninjutsu. He and Naruto can also perform their own version of the Parent and Child Rasengan, which killed Momoshiki after overpowering his attack.
Taijutsu[]
Boruto has shown a degree of taijutsu proficiency since he was an academy student, being able to spar with his father's shadow clones. He is also capable of using the Gentle Fist fighting style albeit to a limited extent as he does not possess the Byakugan, thus he cannot target an opponent's Tenketsu.
Shadow Clones[]
Like his father Boruto can create Shadow Clones, Boruto was able to this before he became a Genin. However, unlike his father, Boruto cannot create over a hundred shadows like his father did when he was his age and cannot create over a thousand clones like his father in his adult life.
Rasengan[]
Boruto was learning this from Konohamaru. He can do this jutsu like his father, however unlike his father when Boruto was learning the Rasengan it took far less time master it and he didn't have use clever work arounds. And Boruto doesn't need shadow clone to create the normal Rasengan.
Boruto would later learn about him using the Lightning Release for his Vanishing Rasengan. This Rasengan is smaller than a normal Rasengan and when thrown it disappears making it on sight adding an element of surprise making an opponent lose their guard, assuming that the technique has dispersed, only to find themselves struck by the invisible attack. Or will suddenly reappear on sight.
In the anime, he would later learn to use other charka natures to make the Rasengan and would later learn to use the Wind Release for the Rasengan. This Rasengan is green and sports a ring in the center, even though it was incomplete Boruto was also able to throw it. In the anime from advice from Shikadai, Boruto would later learn to compress and condenses the Rasengan. The Compression Rasengan at first would has a strong impact and knockback. But the recoil greatly strains Boruto's arm. Mitsuki and Sarada using the Chakra Transfer Technique with Boruto, with Mitsuki's senjutsu and Sarada's Chakra Enhanced Strength the Compression Rasengan will turn into the Super Compression Rasengan increasing the compression.
Utilizing a Kāma seal, he's able to strengthen and enhance the Rasengan, with the aided of Kawaki's Kāma, creating the Rasengan: "Unison" by channeling his energy into him, it greatly increases the size and explosive power of the Rasengan. After Boruto's death and revival, Boruto is capable of using Momoshiki's power to use the Big Ball Rasengan and the Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan.
Three years later, Boruto would learn to harness the Earth's chakra, rotation, and orbit into the Rasengan, called Rasengan: "Uzuhiko" which theoretically has unlimited power. Unlike all variants of the Rasengan, Uzuhiko has the chakra form around his entire body. In order to use this technique Boruto must keep their feet in contact with the ground in order to prepare this technique, which requires them to be able to absorb planetary chakra directly through both feet. The amount of planetary chakra the user acquires determines the attack's potency and effects on the target, and these factors are directly correlated with the time used in accumulating chakra. This planetary chakra may be felt coiling around the user's chest and limbs as they absorb it. It can also be transferred into other people's bodies by simple touch. Those that are impacted may have slight confusion as a result, which will make it more challenging to move and strike efficiently. The user must forcefully infuse the planetary chakra into their body by striking the opponent with their palm—usually aiming for their stomach or chest—to finish the technique. When "Uzuhiko" reaches full power, it can destroy an opponent with a single strike by exploding into a vortex of whirling chakra that drives away the opponent and rips their body apart, rendering them completely unrecognizable. At lower output levels, it deals damage like a regular Rasengan plus the planetary chakra constantly surges through the target's body, causing internal damage and putting them in a constant state of dizziness that impairs their motor skills and destroys their sense of balance. It does incalculable psychological harm in addition to physical suffering because these effects are semi-permanent, ceasing only if the user retracts "Uzuhiko" or the planet stops rotating. This makes it a useful tool for coercion and questioning.
Transformation Technique[]
Another technique that Boruto is able to use just like his father is the Transformation Technique, like his father he's able to transform and impersonate people and turn into any animals, plants, or objects, and even the sexy technique created by Naruto. Also like his father Boruto is able to use the Transformation to deceive other as he transformed inmate a fūma shuriken to deceive Kagemasa and transformed to inmate Sasuke's sword to bypass Isshiki's Sukunahikona as the technique cannot shrink living matter.
Boruto Stream[]
During the field trip int the The Hidden Mist village, Boruto created this Jutsu while battling Shizuma and his gang. Originally Boruto used this Jutsu when running. Boruto changed this by launching either himself or his teammates by propelling either him or them from their feet. Boruto or Sarada or Mitsuki can increase the speed by using Shadow Clones after being launched. This jutsu was originally called Lethal Boruto Stream but was shortened to Boruto Stream.
Gentle Fist[]
Boruto as a descendant of the Hyūga clan, he was taught the basics of the Gentle Fist. But due to him not possessing the Byakugan he can't target an enemy's tenketsu.
Lightning Release: Purple Electricity (Purple Lightning, Raiton: Shiden)[]
At some point Boruto would learn this technique from Kakashi. In the Sasuke Shinden: The Teacher's Star Pupil Novel, Sasuke had witness Boruto using the Purple Lightning technique. And mentions that Boruto using the Purple Lightning while Sasuke was displaying the use of Lightning Release with a copper kunai. In the anime Boruto was seen using Purple Lightning during the Chūnin Exams while using the Shinobi Gauntlet which would get him caught using Scientific Ninja Tools and making it known that he was cheating. Three years after leaving Konoha, Boruto would learn to use this technique by channeling it through his blade like Sasuke does with his Chidori Katana.
Jōgan[]
Boruto's dōjutsu is called the Jōgan. In the manga, the dōjutsu is featureless with a barely visible pupil, but in the anime, the dōjutsu is light blue in color with a darkened sclera and visible pupil. The Jōgan would subconsciously activate, which was pre-maturely activated by Toneri during the Nue incident, the Jōgan activates in his right eye. The Jōgan would independently activate in the presence of dangerous/hidden targets. Like the Byakugan it can perceive the flow of chakra, enabling Boruto to see the visible changes in one's chakra and likewise track a target through their chakra. It can clearly see the chakra pathway system and tenketsu points. Like the Rinnegan it can also see through invisible barriers that connect between dimensions like Yomotsu Hirasaka and portals from Nue's dimension. Much like the Sharingan, it has precognitive abilities, able to dectect and anticipate an opponent's next move based on the muscle tension of the body and act to dodge or intercept an is able to detect when a timespace portal seconds before it has emerged. The Jōgan also has the ability to sense Negative Emotions. The Jōgan would remain dormant within Boruto for a period of time until facing Momoshiki. By the time Boruto became 16 years old, he could activate it at will show in his battle against Kawaki. It is only known by the Ōtsutsuki Clan which some members believed it is troublesome and its power strongly inherited from the clan. Uniquely, despite having the damage done to his right eye, while activating the dōjutsu, his right eye apparently, become fully restored and is able to access it and is able to see with it and use its power.
Kāma[]
After defeating Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, Boruto was marked with a four-point black diamond seal. When activated, the Kāma mark stretches and expands, covering the entire right side of of his body. When using more of Momoshiki's power, the black markings will change to blue or will shimmer glowing blue. The Kāma also allows Boruto to absorb almost any chakra based ninjutsu or energy-based target. Boruto can also open dimensional portals to other realms. With Kawaki's help, Boruto was taught on how to use it more effectively. Even without proper training, Boruto could utilize more of the mark's power with little struggle, something that Isshiki found surprising. It's been noted by Isshiki that Boruto has a rare compatibility for the mark due to his strong and healthy body, and his natural compatibility with the mark he will be able to produce a Chakra Fruit of the highest quality.
Originally the Kāma was a threat to Boruto's being, as during the moment he was branded with it his entire being was rewritten as Momoshiki so he could resurrect through Boruto's body. When Boruto is low on chakra or injured, the soul of Momoshiki will take over Boruto's body. While being possessed by Momoshiki, Boruto's right eye becomes the Byakugan and he grows a horn on his head that is a flate horn curving up and back slightly. While being possessed by Momoshiki will fight on his behalf, having access to Boruto's knowledge and skills in addition to his own. While being possessed, the markings with change to a different pattern and will change to a lighter blue. His physical strength and speed has dramatically increased, to a degree that he could effortlessly destroy the mutated Boro right arm and send his monstrous from crashing with a series of kicks. Momoshiki's manifestation gains access to flight and augment to Boruto's techniques tremendously, able to unleash a massive Rasengan on the scale of the Parent and Child Rasengan. Due to him being in contact with Kawaki who bears Isshiki's Kāma, the two Kāma allow the two to synchronize and accelerated the takeover rate. After the defeat of Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, Boruto was given a special medicine created by Amado to suppress the development of the Kāma. It also seems that the medicine seemingly allows Boruto to access more of the Kāma's power for a period of time without having his mind being immediately taken over by Momoshiki having the similar pattern when Momoshiki would possess Boruto but with Boruto in control. Although it was untested, Kawaki hypothesized that Boruto could create his own Kāma in addiction making someone his own vessel finding a way to for Boruto to survive after Momoshiki revives through Boruto's body.
Following his death in an attempt to stop Momoshiki's control, Boruto was resurrected by Momoshiki using the remaining Kāma data, making Boruto a complete Ōtsutsuki while physically remaining himself. Leading Momoshiki losing the ability to resurrect using his body, though Amado believed in the risk of him being temporarily taking over by Momoshiki under the right conditions. Despite this, he felt a change from the resurrection, believing that he can better access and control Momoshiki's essence with the need of the medicine-assistance. His thoughts and Momoshiki's also become available to one another against their wills. Allowing Boruto temporary access Momoshiki's ability to see glimpses into the future. While believed to be able to control Momoshiki's powers better, a year after leaving Konoha, activating the Kāma would start the process of Momoshiki taking over his body, promting him from using it since. Two years later, Boruto gains the Ōtsutsuki ability of flight, able to outpace Kawaki's own flight speed.
Juinjutsu[]
After Momoshiki's death, Boruto retrieved a curse seal mark on his right palm from the deceased Ōtsutsuki clansman. This mark is called Kāma enables Boruto to absorb charka-based jutsus and increase his fighting prowess.
Space-Time Ninjutsu[]
Kāma Rift[]
After being branded a Kāma mark from Momoshiki, Boruto is able to use a technique called Kāma Rift, he is able to open a portal to travel between dimensions.
Flying Thunder God Technique[]
Three years later after leaving Konoha, Boruto would learn his paternal grandfather's Flying Thunder God Technique and develop his own variation of it with the help Koji Kashin being technically considered to be an entirely separate technique which has more limitations. Boruto peformes the technique by using silver pins, his sword, and shurikens as his markers for his technique formula. Boruto is less adept the technique that his grandfather, as he requires a moment of slience to contrcentration to pinpoin the location of his markers before teleporting, allowing him to travel to Kara's dimension in pursuit of Code and his Ten-Tails. He also uses the ability to avoid attacks and retreat back to his safe haven.
