Special Agent Bruce Harris is a supporting protagonist in the 2010 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops, and appears in the viral website "Pawn Takes Pawn", the marketing of the 2020 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

He is an agent of the Central Intelligence Agency who was assigned to infiltrate Mount Yamatau, but would captured by the Soviets after falling off the mountain. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Harris was released from custody and returned to the United States, but he was later kidnapped by William Bowman, whom believed he was responsible for his father's death. Harris would then explain the situation to William, and provided him a bag of Joseph's belongings.

Background[]

Not much is known about Bruce Harris' past, but he was born in the United States and would marry a woman named Donna and had children with her before the height of the Cold War. He would join the Central Intelligence Agency at some point in his career, but it's currently unknown if he had any position in the United States military. While working for the agency, he kept his profession to secret to his wife, as an email states that she believes he's traveling to Paris. In addition, Harris was acquainted with Joseph Bowman, as the two worked together within the CIA and crossed paths many times during the 1960s. He would also know of Joseph's fiancé Angela and their son William, and his knowledge of Joseph and his fiancée proved vital years later.

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

Harris was assigned to Kilo One to infiltrate Mount Yamatau's Soviet base, and received help from Captain Mosley and Major Neitsch to evade patrols. At the insertion point, Harris splits up from Jason Hudson and Grigori Weaver with Terrance Brooks, and supports his teammates in reaching the com's link so they could reach the base. While leaving the facility, a Soviet officer wielding an RPG hits the bridge, which caused Harris to hold onto the bridge until he lost his grip. Despite Hudson's attempt to save him, Bruce fell backwards and presumably died by falling off the mountain.

Survival[]

Harris managed to survive the fall, but he was captured by the Soviets, whom proceeded to torture him for information about America's appearance in Yamatau. Despite being imprisoned, Harris' allies managed to stop Nikita Dragovich from destroying the west with Nova 6 and his implanted spies. Harris was then sent to different prison camps until the Berlin Wall fell, and was released and sent back to the United States.

Pawn Takes Pawn[]

In the 1989, Harris was kidnapped by William Bowman, who believed that Bruce was the Soviet spy "Perseus", and was the one who caused Joseph's death. When William told Harris who is father was, Bruce went to explain that he knew Joseph and his fiancée Angela, and gave William a bag of his father's belongings.
