Calamity Trio is the main protagonistic faction of the Disney Channel series Amphibia.

Originally, they were a group of normal teenage girls Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu from planet Earth, that used to have a normal life. Until one day, all of the girls ended up being teleported into wild world of Amphibia by the Calamity Box - a powerful relic that originated from this land. Soon, it is revealed that the Trio were destined to arrive here to obtain the Calamity Gem's powers to defeat the Core - mechanical being, that is the result of all bad misdeeds of Amphibia's past rulers.

Biography[]

Over 10,000 years ago, an unknown galactic entity gifted the people of Amphibia three gems of unlimited power as test of how mortal would use such power. Unfortunately, the ruling newts ended up abusing its power, believing that it is the proof that their destiny is conquering other worlds. Those gems were embodied into the music box, that has becomed the Calamity Box. As a result of Box's abuse, the rulling newts used obtained knowledge of otherworldy creatures to create the Core - a biomechanical entity, that would preserve Amphibia's greatest minds forever, becoming "the worst version of Amphibians".

1,000 years before the events of the series, Leif, the royal gardener for capital city of Newtopia, recieved a nightmarish vision of Amphibia's dark future. Coming into conseus that their land would be harmed too from multiversal conquests, Leif stole the Calamity Box and journeyed to Olms. Under their guidence, she hid the box on Earth, while the prophecy was created by Mother Olms, oldest and the wisest olm of Amphibia. The prophecy says that "three stars", that represent the traits of gems, will arrive from Earth to Amphibia and obtain the powers of Gems to extinguish the Core.

Girls Meeting Each Other[]

On Earth, those "stars" would become three human girls: Anne Boonchuy (representing heart), Sasha Waybright (representing strength) and Marcy Wu (representing wit) from city of Los Angeles, USA. They used to have normal free life. Although, Anne ended up being "walked over" by bossy Sasha and clumsy Marcy.

In 2019, on Anne's 13rd birthday, Marcy discovered the information about the box, before recieving news that her family would move away due to her father's promotion. Devasted at this, Marcy ran away from home and discovered the Calamity Box in the local thrift store. Knowing that it is able to travel through multiverse, Marcy tricked her best friends into stealing the box to keep their friendship forever. It ended up as success with girls being seperated from each other: Anne teleported to the Wartwood Swamp, Sasha to the Toad Tower and Marcy to the Newtopia.

Anne Savisa Boonchuy - Thai-American teenage girl and the unoffical leader of the Trio. She represents the Blue Gem of Heart on the Box: Anne is charismatic, helpful and supportive girl, that will stand up for others. During her in Amphibia, Anne shaped herself into better, selfless and kind-hearted person, admitting that while she did many mistakes in the past, she is willing to continue to live to learn from mistakes and grow as person via changes, even being able to pass this to Sasha and Marcy. In the finale, she temporary died while destroying the Core, but was saved and then completely resurrected by the Guardian, who saw her as a worthy candidate for the mantle of the Guardian once she live out her whole life.
Sasha Elizabeth Waybright - Slavic-American teenage girl. She represents the Pink Gem of Strength on the Box: Sasha is commanding and strong-wielded fighter, that won't stop before she could achieve her goal. Originally, she used to boss around and doing misdeed. By during her time in Amphibia, Sasha ultimately discovered how toxic her friendship with Anne was, leading her to put her past self behind and using her persistent spirit for really good intentions.
Marcy Regina Wu - Taiwanese-American teenage girl. She represents the Green Gem of Wit on the Box: Marcy is energetic, affable and very intellected fantasier. Marcy deeply cares for her friends, but soon realized that forcefully keeping their friendship and running away from changes is wrong. Marcy's unintentional mistakes made her accept changes, becoming humble and letting go of fact, that she not always will have something that is important for her.

Although their title was never spoken in the series, Matt Braly and the rest of the crew officially dupped them like that, taking inspiration from fans' nicknames for them.
Each season has focus on one of the girls, while also ending with the character realize her past mistakes and sacrifice their lives for others.
- Season 1 focuses on Sasha, showing her manipulative and determinative nature. In the end, Anne stands up to her, seeing that she controlled her from the beginning, before Sasha allows herself to fall to near death, feeling remorse over this.
- Season 2 focuses on Marcy, revealing that she kick-started the series' events, fearing over losing her friends. But after she discovered that this act was rather selfish, she helped send Anne and Plantars back to Earth, suffering a fatal wound by King Andrias in the process.
- Season 3 shows Anne's overall development as a person that she had transformed into throughout the series, while also helping Sasha and Marcy do the same. In the end, she gave up her life to destroy the Core, only to be resurrected by the Guardian, who saw her as their future successor.
