Biography[]
Season 1[]
With a bullet wound in his shoulder, Mike Ehrmantraut seeks out a streetwise taxi driver who directs him to someone who can patch him up without asking questions, leading him to Caldera. After offering various painkillers, Caldera suggests finding work for Mike, but Mike declines, wanting to leave his dark past behind.
Mike returns to Caldera, this time to have a shelter dog he adopted examined. During the visit, Mike inquires about the "work" Caldera previously mentioned.
Season 2[]
Mike visits Caldera again to inquire about more work. Caldera offers a low-paying bodyguard job, but Mike needs more money. “You want next-level pay? You’ve got to do next-level work,” Caldera says, mentioning a loan shark in need of an enforcer. Mike refuses any work involving violence and opts for the bodyguard job instead. Later, Caldera contacts Mike with a “next-level” job from a client specifically requesting Mike.
Season 3[]
After realizing he’s being followed, Mike arranges a secret meeting with Caldera in the middle of the night to obtain a tracking device. Caldera charges double for the "after-hours house call" and asks if Mike's dog is being properly cared for.
Jimmy McGill brings a goldfish in a bag as a pretext to visit Caldera, who reprimands him for not having enough oxygen in the bag. Jimmy asks Caldera for help in finding a professional pickpocket, and they eventually settle on Huell Babineaux.
Season 4[]
At Caldera's office, while trying to find someone to steal a valuable Hummel figurine, Jimmy grows frustrated waiting for Caldera to finish a phone call in the adjacent room. Jimmy interrupts, and despite Caldera's objections, takes the phone and arranges a meeting with the contact directly. He leaves with his goldfish, passing Leonel on his way out.
The Cousins bring a delirious Nacho to Caldera for treatment, driving to a disused Jiffy Lube garage for clandestine surgery. After the life-saving procedure, Nacho wakes up to find a blood transfusion set up between him and Marco. Caldera informs Nacho that he had to leave the bullet in his shoulder, advises seeing a doctor with imaging equipment, and gives instructions on how to heal. Caldera also tells Nacho he never wants to see him again, unwilling to be further involved in cartel business.
Season 6[]
Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler enlist Caldera's help in their scheme against Howard Hamlin by having Caldera provide Jimmy with a drug that dilates his eyes. Caldera reveals he's tired of the criminal lifestyle and plans to retire to focus on being a vet, selling his black notebook containing criminal contacts before he leaves town. At Jimmy's request, Caldera allows him and Kim to look at the book, which is coded and contains a business card for Best Quality Vacuum, indicating his connection to Ed Galbraith, the Disappearer. Jimmy is incredulous that Caldera is walking away from the money his contacts offer, but Kim is more understanding.
