The history of Callum from The Dragon Prince.

Backstory[]

Callum was born as the son of Sarai and and an artist named Damian. However, his father ended up dying due to a breathing disease, with Sarai later remaring with Harrow, the then prince and later king of the Human Kingdom of Katolis, leading to them having a son named Ezran, Callum's half-brother. Despite not being his biological son, Harrow tried to treat Callum like he was and gave him a book so he could write and draw what he wanted.

During his childhood, his mother was killed by the Dragon King Avizandum during a mission to retrieve the heart of a magma titan from Xadia so they could stop the famine in the kingdoms of Katolis and Duren. Callum would start to learn several things due to being the prince of Katolis, such as horseback riding, sword fighting. In swordfighting, he was trained by Soren, the son of the high mage Viren, who would pick up on him by calling him a step-prince to mock him for not being Harrow's biological son out of jealousy due to Soren's relationship with his father being emotionaly abuse in comparison to how Harrow treated Callum as if he was his biological child.

One day while he was searching for information about a stone giant that they found in Kpp'Ar's labirint, Callum told Viren's daughter Claudia, whom he secretly has a crush on, that she should express her feelings about her mother leaving her, as it would make her feel better and would make her able to still remember her mother, although Claudia decided to ignore his advice and remember that the stone giant she and her brother found was sad.

Despite them not being fully siblings, Callum was very kind towards his step-brother Ezran, and drew things in his sketchbook in case he wanted to read it from time to time, as he knew Ezran liked to see through his sketchbook and gave him advice on how Callum could make it more intresting. Even with his decent relationship with his brother, there were times where Callum would be cold towards Ezran growing up and distancing himself from his brother, those being during the days around the time their mother had died.

One day, wanting to better their relationship, Harrow brought them to the town of Noct while he and the Standing Battalion were trying to deal with an occorence happening there where the people of the town were falling asleep and were unable to wake up. During this, Ezran encountered a racoon who told him there was a treasure behind a waterfall, only for it to be revealed to be a trick where Callum got his clothes all wet and the racoons stole their jelly tarts.

This lead to Callum telling Ezran that animals don't talk, and after this, they are met who Harrow who goes to them and explains that what happened was just an adventure who didn't end the way they liked. At Noct, they see the people who were put to sleep, and try to sneak next to the room where Harrow and Amaya were talking to the town's mayor Otti about what was happening. While listening in, they find out that whatever was causing people to go to sleep only affected adults, and later they came to the conclusion that it is probably elven magic.

While this was happening, though, they end up being seen, leading to Harrow ordering Amaya to bring the two to their rooms. The next day, Callum decides to go to the town's library to find anything about what might be causing the events at Noct, and brings Ezran along. While there, Ezran finds a book and gives it to Callum, only for the latter to understand that it was a fairy-tale book and tells Ezran to return it to its place.

Later, Callum went to Harrow and convinced him to allow him to go in their search for what was happening in the town, with Harrow agreeing, but deciding to bring Ezran as well and telling Callum he should protect his brother, with Callum reluctantly promising to do so. Going to the eastern side of Noct, Ezran hears weird sounds on the town's windmill and decides to have Bait investigate it, and when Callum goes to Ezran and the latter tells him where Bait was, they go to the windmill.

Right after, though, a storm happened and the brothers were seperated, with Callum outside the windmill while Ezran inside of it. Callum tried to get the debris off the windmill's front door, but Ezran ended up managing to get out using the window from the above floor. After this, Harrow appeared, and seeing how the events at Noct could truly put the kids in danger, he ordered a squad of the Standing Battalion to bring the princes back to Katolis.

However, while going through there, they are faced with a giant creature which puts every member of the squad to sleep. The boys understand that the creature was the one causing the events at Noct, and decide to return to the library to find anything about it. While there, Ezran begins to talk witha rat he met named Dionis, and during this, he slowly remembers that the creature they saw was the one from the fairy tail book Ezran had found earlier.

However, before Ezran could go any further, the small banther they had previously found knocked one of the library's bookshelves, leading to Amaya and Gren hearing them. After they told the princes to stay in the house they were in. Seeing the storm and the creature, Ezran tries to warn them, but it was too late as Harrow, Amaya, and every other adult in the town, were put to sleep.

While they were wondering what to do next, they see a child stuck in the debris caused by the storm, so they decide to get him out of there. After rescuing the other children stuck in the debris, Ezran told everyone to go to the town's hall and be safe while he and Callum dealt with the creature. After this, Callum realises that the thing that caused all of this was due to an opening of an elven temple while the town was using their quarry to find stones and rocks to build more things.

They then decide to go find that temple so they could learn more about how to deal with the creature, and there, they find a painting of it. During their search, Callum realises the creature was the same as the one in the book Ezran had previously found. However, the creature then appeared and affected the minds of the animals next to Callum and Ezran, leading them to follow it.

Right after, Ezran and Callum go back to the library, understanding that getting to the book could be the only way to stop the creature before it destroyed the town. There, Ezran was able to get the book, leaving it with Callum while he left to make sure the town's kids were okay, something Callum was initially against but deciding to do so after being convinced by Ezran.

Callum then finds out that the creature was a Dream Warden, a being capable of entering into other people's dreams, who was once friends with an elven child. However, as time went on, the child grew up, and by the time they were an adult, they could no longer see it, and understanding how its sorrow and ending up causing other elves to suffer from nightmares in his attempts to find its former friend ended in nothing, the Warden decided to return to its temple and stay there, no longer allowing itself to have another friend.

With this, Callum understands that the Dream Warden was lashing out over his temple having been opened by humans, and went to tell Ezran. Hearing this from Callum, Ezran decided to face the Dream Warden, causing him to get knocked unconsious from one of its attacks, leading Callum to think that he had lost his brother. In reality, Ezran had entered the Dream World, where he told the Warden that it was similar to his brother, as both ended up becoming cold and distant due to loss of someone, the warden being his friend and Callum being his mother.

He ends up convincing the Warden to stop by making it realise it can become friends with the children of Noct, and that it didn't have to be alone anymore. With this, the town was saved, and Ezran woke up alomgside every adult there. Harrow then came to his sons, happy they were alright, with Ezran telling his father that the events at Noct were the cause of an elven temple being opened, leading Harrow to tell one of his soldiers to warn Lord Viren about what had happened as he would have likely been interested in it.

Later, Callum created the "Jerkface dance" to apologize to Ezran for how he acted, with Ezran accepting it. They would then return to Katolis, with Callum drawing the Dream Warden after its fusion with the other animals, although he was unaware of what had actually happened.

Book one: Moon[]

During a night time, Callum and Ezran were sleeping in their bedrooms when the boys were frightened by the thunderstorm. The next day, Callum struggled in his sword-fighting lessons with Soren when Claudia walked by. Soren realized that Callum was crushing on Claudia and helped him impress her. One day, Harrow sent him to the lodge they would go on the winter because Moon Shadow elf assassins were coming to kill Harrow. Callum, understanding this, tried to help Soren and his troop in stopping the assassins, although he failed because Soren ridiculed him. Callum and Ezran get into a huge argument that ends with Callum shouting at him that the Moonshadow Elves are coming to kill their father.

Callum tries to apologize to Ezran but is completely unaware that his brother is gone. He goes to the library to find books for the long journey. However, he encounters Claudia, who teaches him about the "Aspiro" spell. Callum hides his jealousy and wishes he could switch places with Claudia, who gets an idea to save, King Harrow. After showing his displeasure in his misunderstanding in girls, Callum goes back to his and Ezran's room, where he finds his brother is gone. Later, Harrow summons Callum to the throne room, where he gives Callum a letter he hopes his stepson will open in the event the assassination attempt is successful. Callum also asks why they cannot make peace with Xadia, but Harrow knows that it is too late for him. They both give a final goodbye before Callum goes back to his chambers.

On his way to his chambers, Callum turns around and sees that one of the assassins, Rayla, came to kill Ezran and Harrow, Callum tried to lie to Rayla that he was Ezran to protect him however, the ruse failed when Ezran interrupted them and referred to his brother as "Callum." Ezran distracts Rayla by having Bait blind her with his good. The boys ran to Viren's chambers and his in his secret lair. Rayla followed them into Viren's dungeons and was about to kill them. Ezran revealed that he had found something special: the egg of the Dragon Prince, which was still intact. The boys and Rayla decided that they can end the war if they can return the egg to its mother and call off the assassination.

However, the group suddenly is confronted by Claudia who reveals that her father stole the egg so elves and dragons couldn't use it against them. The boys and Rayla run from Claudia when she sends shadow wolves after the trio. However, Callum steals Claudia's Primal Stone and performs the "Aspiro" spell that Claudia had shown him earlier. Unfortunately, when Rayla, Callum, and Ezran try to show the egg to Runaan, the leader of the assassins, he refuses to call it off. Callum was forced to flee with his brother and hide him and Bait in the haystack. After failing to get by Viren, Callum is forced to flee, where he is reunited with his brother and Rayla. Callum hesitated got a second, with Rayla saying she would go with him back to the tower. However, Callum decided not to and said it was up to them and Bait to get the egg back to its mother and stop the war.

The next day, Callum convinced Rayla to make a detour to the Banther Lodge to steal a rare artifact hidden in the game room. However, Callum and Ezran are reunited with their aunt General Amaya. While successfully retrieving a mysterious cube, Rayla was caught and captured. Ezran tried convincing his brother they should tell their aunt about the worst but Callum refused. They can free Rayla but find themselves cornered. They escape on a row boat when Rayla pretends to kidnap the princes. She scolded Callum for risking their lives for a stupid cube, telling him she hoped it was worth it. When the cube was near the Sky Primal stone he noticed that the Sky rune glowed.

A few days later, Callum tried to perform Claudia's lightning Spell but it spun out of control. He throws it to Rayla who gets electrocuted from the spell. Team Zym travels on the river and Callum notices Rayla's discomfort. During this time, the two bonded as Callum asked questions about Xadia to help Rayla keep her mind off of her fear of water. When Callum asked about her parents, Rayla told him they were dead. Suddenly the group came across a waterfall, but we were able to safely make it. However, the ocean side of the Key suddenly glows and they are attacked by a giant ocean monster that jumps out of the lake. Rayla finds herself on land but notices Callum and Ezran are still in the water. After failing to warn when that the sea creature was after Bait. After a successful rescue due to Callum's lightning spell, Callum and Ezran learn from Rayla that her parents are still alive but she wishes they were dead. Callum sees Rayla's distress about their boat coming back. He decides they'll continue the journey on foot. Tell him asks Rayla about the bindings on her hands and she explains that it's just decorative.

The following morning, Callum, Ezran, and Bait wake up, and Callum starts to grow suspicious of Rayla and he voices his concerns to Ezran. Rayla suddenly comes and forces the boys to pack up but Callum accidentally leaves their food behind. The group travels up a mountain, where Bait sets off an avalanche that causes Callum, Ezran, Rayla, and Bait to land on a frozen lake, where the egg landed. Ez grabbed onto the egg but suddenly the ice cracked below him. However, Callum came to Ezran's aid and took the egg from him until he found himself in the same predicament. The boys rely on Rayla, whom Callum apologized to for not trusting her earlier. Rayla confessed that her binding will only come off unless Ezran dies and she will lose her hand if she doesn't succeed in her attempt. As Callum told her there was no time to argue, Rayla nearly confessed to the boys their father was dead. However, Callum hands her the dragon egg. Unfortunately, Rayla drops the egg and Ezran dives in after it; Callum tries driving after him but Rayla stops him. Suddenly, Ezran knocks on the ice and Rayla and Callum help them break through. Callum grows relieved when Ezran wakes up. However, Callum's relief is short-lived when he grows equally concerned when he sees that something is wrong with the egg.

The group settles for the evening; however, they notice that the egg is growing weaker with every passing hour. Callum, Bait, Ezran, and Rayla wander into town, where Callum tells Rayla that she has to disguise herself because the human village is filled with xenophobic people. As Rayla goes to ask a man about a sunfire elf knife that she hopes will cut through her bindings, Callum and Ezran take the egg to the nearby veterinarian. They reluctantly show the vet a dragon's egg. The veterinarian is unsure what to do with the egg and advises them to seek out Ellis and her pet wolf, Ava. They tell their story of how a mysterious healer helped save Ava's life by restoring her leg. The boys quickly meet up with Rayla but are suddenly driven out of town by an angry mob and they run up the Cursed Caldera, where they find Ellis riding Ava.

Callum introduces Ava and Ellis to Rayla, who is immensely skeptical about a magical healer living up in the Cursed Caldera. Ellis warns them that at night, their greatest fears can come alive. The group comes across a leech-like creature, and Callum comes up with a plan that they are all unsure of. The group fails to subdue the leach at first and Ellis, Ava, and Callum hide on one rock platform while Ez, Rayla, and Bait hide on the other. There, Ellis boasts Callum's confidence, which helps Team Zym defeat the leach monster together. As they make their way up to the tree where the mysterious healer is found, Ezran says there is no miracle healer, as Ava has warned them.

Irritated, Callum snaps at Ezran, because he doesn't believe his brother's abilities to communicate with animals. They continue their journey up the mountain, where Callum looks down at the Key of Aaravos and notices the higher they go up, the more radiant the moon rune glows. They suddenly come across a gigantic spider guarding its web. Ezran runs up to prove that the spider is fake and Callum follows after. He finally sees that his brother is telling the truth about his animal empathy. They make it to the tree, where they meet Lujanne and her pet Moon Phoenix, Phoe-Phoe.

She revealed to them that she only can create illusions, as seen when she did with Ava's leg, which was also an illusion. They show the Moonshadow elf the dragon egg and Lujanne tells them the only way the baby can be saved is if it is hatched. However, this is impossible because sky dragons can only be born in the eye of the storm but the night was clear as day. Callum refuses to let the baby dragon die, so Callum selflessly sacrifices Claudia's Primal Stone and creates a storm so the dragon can hatch. The egg hatched and the baby Azymondias emerged before biting off Rayla's binding. However, unknown to the group, the purple wisps were part of Claudia's tracking spell and darker forces were pursuing the group.

Book 2: Sky[]

Callum is writing a letter to his stepfather to inform him of their mission, unaware of his demise. He talks to Rayla as well, who knows but did not telling him or Ezran. Callum and the rest of the group then go to lunch, where a great feast was prepared for them. Callum is the first to realize that all the food was just grubs covered in an illusion. When Rayla insists that the group leave and continue their journey to Xadia, Callum wants to stay and learn moon magic from Lujanne. The first thing they do during Callum's lessons is to go to the Moonhenge, where, thousands of years ago, Moonshadow Elves performed special rituals. He is scared when Lujanne creates an illusion of what the place had looked like before but then amazed by the people and what they were doing. Lujanne then explains how primal energy can be stronger at different places or times, and how there are 6 places where each of the primal sources is at its strongest. She showed him the Moon Nexus, the place where moon primal energy was the strongest. Callum then asks to learn how to do some real magic, instead of learning about it. Lujanne explains that without the primal stone, Callum would not be able to use magic. feeling discouraged, Callum goes back to camp. He talks with Ezran, who shares that he, too, had a tough day. But Ezran would keep going, so Callum decided to as well. He went back to talk to Lujanne, who again said it was not possible. She tried to explain the Moon arcanum to Callum, but he did not understand - he is 'only human.' He goes to bed again, feeling defeated. In bed, he puts the cube up against himself but sighs when it does not light.

When Callum sees that Soren is about to kill Rayla, he runs in, telling them they are not enemies. The next day, he's getting ready to leave for breakfast, seeming to give special care to his looks. When Ez asks who he's trying to impress, he gets nervous. At breakfast, when Claudia says that the princes should come home, Callum explains how there is no egg anymore and that the mission was too important for them to stop. When Soren says that their father misses them, Callum is excited. Later, Rayla tells Callum not to trust Soren and Claudia. When she is about to tell him about his stepfather, Claudia comes in and says she wants to talk to him. Callum shows her the Moonhenge, which she loves. Callum suggests they come back at night to see the Moon Nexus. While Callum is in his room, Rayla comes to him and says that she has proof that Soren and Claudia cannot be trusted. Callum does not think it is good proof, and that he's known Claudia and Soren for years, which Rayla did not have. Later, when he shows Claudia the Moon Nexus, she tells him about the news that their father is dead. He leaves sad and meets Rayla on his way to his bed, who feels awful.

Walking past her, Callum hears Rayla's attempt to apologize about knowing of King Harrow's demise but stops her worried about how is he going to tell Ezran about their father, but he cannot. The next morning, Callum takes him on a walk outside but is still not able to tell him. He sits down next to Rayla and apologizes for blaming her for not telling them. He realizes that when Soren said their father wanted them home Rayla had known he was lying. But Callum does not want to leave yet because they are friends. Just then, Soren and Claudia come up to them. They go into one of the rooms and Claudia gives Callum the letter he dropped and she says goodbye to them. Later, he tells Rayla that Claudia was so supportive of their mission that they wanted to go along. Rayla comes up with a plan to see if they would betray them or not. The next day, the group sets off and Claudia and Soren sabotage them. Then, Ellis takes the illusion charm off Ava and the illusion disappears. The group flies off on Phoe-Phoe leaving Soren and Claudia on the ground. Callum looks back at Claudia sadly that their deception was true. While they are flying, Callum is still sad, but looking at Ezran cheering, he cheers up.

While everyone else is waking up on Phoe-Phoe, Callum is meditating to try and connect to the sky arcanum. Phoe-Phoe starts to drop out of the sky because she is tired due to her great distance from the Moon Nexus. Ezran and Zym almost fall off a cliff but Rayla grabs them and Callum grabs her feet. They look ahead at the miles of water, which Rayla is afraid of, and Callum suggests they walk around it somehow, but Rayla disagrees. Callum and Ezran go looking for a sea captain and find one named Villads. While sailing, Callum asks Captain Villads how they were going in one direction while the wind was blowing the other. The captain explains how he has a deep connection to the wind in his bones. Then the group gets caught in the storm. They are forced to port and are disappointed that they will not save any time at all by having left early. Afterward, Callum tries to make a connection to the arcanum by going to the top of the windmill where the lightning was striking and wanted to take Zym, but by making to the top Callum realizes that it was wrong to risk his and Zym's life on wanting to learn magic. Thanks to Zym, Callum is saved from the next lightning strike and returned to the ship with him relieved that the young dragon is alright.

After setting sail again, Callum is below deck trying to decide whether to open his letter or not, but he puts it down, Bait comes down with him, and Callum explains to Bait why he does not want to open the letter, because he feels that once he reads the last word, his father would really be gone forever. With Bait's encouragement, Callum breaks the seal and reads it Harrow explaining that he had put a distance between them because he was not Callum's birth father. At the time he is writing it, Moonshadow Elves are coming to assassinate him and he will pass on a lie, a wish, and a secret. When Harrow was gone, Ezran would become king with Callum as his closest advisor, partner, and defender. Soon, they would face the great lie of history - people would tell them that history was all about strength, but really, that was just power. Real strength came in forgiveness and love. He wanted him and Ezran to reject history as a narrative of strength, and instead let it be a narrative of love. He then recounted Sarai's last words to him - "I will see you on the other side." Harrow knew he would be watching over him and his brother from the other side. He wishes that they be free, unlike him, and not let the past define their future. And finally, the secret - it was in the banther lodge, where Harrow thought they would be. It was the cube they got when they went there. the cube was an ancient relic passed down through the ages, belonging first to an elven wizard named Aaravos, a master of all 6 primal sources, but right after heading back up deck, Callum and the others find themselves under a Dragon's shadow.

Once night fell again, while Callum talks to Bait about the Key of Aaravos, Rayla sits down with him as well and Callum asks her about her connection with the moon arcanum. Rayla explains it, but it does not really help, and he starts to talk about how he must become a mage again if he wants to be any help in Xadia, and Rayla explains about the Moonstone Path. They wake up later to the sound of a dragon. They run to see the source and are surprised to see the dragon attacking a town, and even more surprised when the dragon is hit. The dragon crash lands, almost hitting them, and they rush to its side. After removing the ballista's spear, they are forced to flee when Soren and Claudia come in search of the dragon with a group of soldiers. After getting back to their cave, Callum tells Rayla there's nothing she could have done to help the dragon. When Rayla leaves, Callum starts drawing and finds a solution. He sets off to where Rayla had gone. He steals Claudia's dark magic book to cast a spell that turns the chains on the dragon into snakes. Afterward, he collapses, Rayla picks him up but Callum can barely stand.

Rayla tries to get Callum to walk but he is too sick to keep going back in their cave, Callum says he is uncomfortable. He opens his eyes in a dream and he is on a pile of keys the key of Aaravos has a dark magic symbol on it and that symbol glows when it is near him. Callum throws the cube and an evil version of himself catches it. Evil Callum tells Callum to accept that he will learn dark magic. Callum almost does until his father appears chained to his throne. He tells Callum that he is free and can choose his own destiny. Callum rejects Evil Callum's offer by telling him that destiny was a book you wrote yourself and the monster disintegrated. Callum tells his father that that was horrifying, and Harrow's throne slides backward. Callum keeps walking and meets Captain Villads, who says he heard that Callum needed a boat for his journey into his heart and mind. Suddenly, they are on a boat but storm appears and Callum turns into a sail then, Callum is alone on the ship, trying to guide it. Afterward, Callum was looking at the storm through his Primal Stone. He throws the stone down and shatters it. Then, it reverses and the Primal Stone is back in Callum's hands with him looking through it. Zooming in on the Primal Stone once more, the Callum in the storm's ship has crashed and was broken into pieces. Callum's grip on the barrel he was holding onto fails and he sinks into the ocean.

As his dream fevered state of him being plunged into an ocean continues, Callum is guided by his mother upon explaining his problems of learning magic to her. He is advised by her to take things slow and to remember that he will always have her love. He awakes, declaring that he finally understands the sky arcanum. Ecstatic that he made a connection with sky magic, he tries to explain it to her but seeing that his words are not making any sense Callum attempts to perform Aspiro without the help of a Primal Stone. He manages to draw the rune and unleash a strong breath of wind. Soon he sees Ezran and Corvus arrive and is introduced to them by Rayla. When he hears from the scout Corvus call his brother the king, he realizes that Ezran had already been aware of their father's death, and the two embrace each other to mourn their loss. Just as they are getting packed up to leave, he hears of his younger brother's choice to return home and stop the war from there. Callum is sad but respects his decision and vows to help him once Zym would be safely returned. He then watches Ezran leave. Upon finally making it to the border, Callum expresses sadness that they were so close but Ezran was not with them but is reminded by Rayla that "one does not simply walk into Xadia" and that they had to wait until the moonlight showed them the proper path. But as they walk across, the sun starts to rise, causing the runes on the path to disappear. However, with the help of Zym blocking the light they manage to cross and finally making it to Xadia, unfortunately just as they enter Xadia's rocky terrain they run into a more dangerous obstacle: the arch dragon of the Sun and a former dragon monarch Sol Regem.

Book 3: Sun[]

As they stood before the golden dragon, Rayla tells Callum that they must be very sneaky as Sol Regem really hates humans and will kill him on the spot, and despite trying his best to be that, Callum and the rest are caught. They try to convince Sol to let them pass but once that ultimately proves to be a failure, Callum and Rayla manage to outwit him but in doing so, they end up destroying the only access-way across the Breach, regardless now that they're in Xadia, the duo continue to bring Zym back to his home.

As they travel down the road to meet the Dragon queen, Callum follows Rayla on a little detour to her hometown though upon reaching it he doesn't see anything but the forest, he tells her that he likes it, that it is modest. She replies that it is hidden by an illusion and she has to perform a special ritual for them to get in, like having a key. He asks how he gets in, and she replies that he will use her key. She tells him to just do what she does. They perform a sort of dance and runes appear, revealing the Silvergrove, the village of the Moonshadow Elves. She is excited to show him everything, but Callum sees that something is wrong. He points out that none of the elves around them appear to have any faces. Rayla despairs and he asks what's wrong with them. She replies that it is not them, it is her - that she's a ghost. Callum begs for someone to answer, but she tells him that it is no use. Because they cannot see her, him or Zym because they came in with her. He replies that he does not get it, and she explains that they made her a ghost - referring it to being magically banished. It is what happened to her parents when they abandoned the Dragon Guard and now it is been done to her because she did not complete her mission. He tells her that they just do not know what happened. She agrees that it must be a mistake, telling him there is one person who will understand: Runaan's husband, Ethari, who despite not fully lifting the band, is still kind enough to see their faces as they show him Zym, convincing him to help them meet Zym's mother, queen Zubeia even quicker, but he does warn them that since both her mate & son she's fallen ill.

While riding down the path the reach where the Dragon queen lives, Callum and Rayla meet a Skywing elf named Nyx, who offers them a much faster way of getting there, through the Midnight Desert, and she offered to give them a ride where they would only spend two days, which they accepted. Nyx would then bring them to her giant ambler, where they would travel for the rest of the day until they to an oasis at night that had a barrier that protected it from Soul Fangs, which were snakes that turned anyone that was bitten by them into living husks. After Callum and Rayla went to talk to each other after Rayla started crying, Nyx took that opportunity to kidnap Azymondias and bring him to his mother to get some treasure in return. Rayla and Callum then find out about this and catch Nyx's ambler, and understanding that she was trapped, Nyx fell off the ambler and used her wings to try to fly away. However, Azymondias knocks her out, causing her to get stuck in sand, with Soul Fangs appearing. After this, Nyx begged Rayla to help her, with Rayla reluctantly decidng to save her, and they got back to her ambler, with Nyx asking if they saved her because she was charming and that they couldn't dislike her because of it, Callum then told her that it was because Rayla was selfless, causing them Rayla to kiss Callum and they finally decide to start a relationship together.

The following morning, Callum and Rayla wake up and after bidding farewell to Nyx, they head down and stand a few inches before the Dragon queen's home: the Storm spire, while walking the group find themselves before the stoned remains of Zym's father as Callum talks about the pasts regarding their parents. As he, Rayla, and Zym are about to head up, they are happily reunited with Ezran and Bait, the latter had temporarily stepped down as king the continue on with the quest of ending the war and with the group reunited, they march up the Spire to meet queen Zubeia.

As they continue to march up the storm spire, Callum asks Rayla on whether or not that they should keep their relationship a secret, which she replies that she does not think it is going to come up. Callum asks if she means that they should hide it from her, a "secret, forbidden-romance." Rayla kids that she's right, putting a finger to his lip and saying that the Dragon Queen must never know. He closes his eyes saying that he understands, that the world just is not ready for what they have. She smacks him playfully and he chuckles. They reach a gateway with elven writing. Callum asks if she can read it. She tells him that it says "Prepare to draw your last breath." Having considered this ominous warning, they continue their march. But as the pace becomes increasingly grueling, Callum asks just how tall the mountain is and Rayla suggests that they should rest. Ezran, however, tells them that they need to keep going. With no little reluctance, they follow. Not long after, however, Callum stops again, saying that the air is so thin he can barely breathe. Rayla clutches him and then they both collapse. Ezran then wakes him, having met with Pyrrah: the same dragon who he freed, drew him a rune & tells Callum that the message they encountered was not, in fact, a warning, but rather a solution: a spell that'll enable them to live, with that Callum casts the spell using the rune and they are all able to breathe normally and after Rayla awakes, the two kiss, accidentally revealing to Ezran & Bait about their new relationship. Regardless of the awkward reveal, Callum and co. finally make it to the top of the storm spire where they meet a skywing elf mage currently acting as Zubeia's servant, but while they show him her son's alive, he warns them that they're "too late".

As they walk into the storm spire's inner sanctum, the mage introduces himself as Ibis, who had come to see if his magic could help the queen, while Ezran comforts an uneasy Zym not fully ready to see his mother for the first time, Callum help comforts a guilt-ridden Rayla about her parent's abandonment. That evening, Callum and the others head outside to find that Ezran & Pyrrah had found someone on their side: Soren (who had finally decided to come around after seeing his father's true colors), who after catching his breath again warns him that they're all doomed; since Harrow's death Viren had been using his death to make himself ruler of Katolis and following that he managed to get the other human kingdoms (by creating shadows of the elves that were killed during the assassination to kill the monarchs after trying to convince them) to join them in his cause and before leaving, he stopped by the sunfire elf home & corrupted their special power & used it to transform his (unwilling) army into monsters leading them to kill Zym. With this news Ibis urges Callum to run & keep Zym safe while he checks to see how long until Viren's army gets hear, but as he contemplates on Ibis' idea, he learns that Rayla plans to stay and protect the Dragon Queen as an act of redemption for her parents, fortunately using moon magic, Callum learns that Rayla's parents actually stayed and fought until overpowered, and convinced Viren not to destroy Zym's egg, thus saving his life. With this revelation revealed and a big speech from Soren, Callum & co. agree to stay and fight, just as Ibis warns them that Viren will arriving tomorrow, he also reveals to them that Amaya (after explaining to them the incident at the lodge to her) had arrived with an elf she befriended (and growing attached to) herself: a sunfire elf knight named Janai who gathered the remains of her home's forces to fight Viren, with this newfound sign, Ibis changes his mind to flee & he and Ezran fly off to get more help while Callum & Rayla stay back to prepare for the upcoming battle.

On the morning of the battle, Callum attempts to try wing spell he saw Ibis do, but fails before being interrupted by Rayla, they attempt to have a moment before they are interrupted by Soren who says it's time for the battle meeting, as they head down the spire, Callum and Soren speaks of the times that he made fun of him and knocked him down, asking if he remembers. Callum says that he does and Soren apologizes. He tells him that it was wrong and he's sorry for it. He thinks that it was because even though King Harrow was Callum's stepdad, he clearly loved him, which made him feel jealous and upset. He picked on him because he did not know any better and because he was smaller and weaker. "Gee, thanks," comments Callum, and Soren adds "slower." He asks if they should hug to seal the apology. Callum says he's not sure that's necessary, but Soren glomps him with a big hug anyway. Once the meeting begins, Callum translates Amaya's signs that they must protect Zym at any costs, knowing Viren's pyro army greatly outnumber them, they are still to sloppy and they capable of slowing down, and once the soldiers manage to break through their defense, Callum will use his magic to take down the climbing soldiers.

Once Viren's forces arrive at the foot of the storm spire, Callum stands in his place as his aunt, Amaya, and Soren fly down and prepare to take on to advancing wave, which soon gets extra intense, but as things go wrong in their favor he cheers for the arrival of Ezran overhead on Pyrrah, leading a group of dragons towards the battle as they burn the monster soldiers, but this proves to be a mistake as the fire only enhances the power of the bestial soldiers and they soon make it to the steps of the storm spire. Once they are in range, the young prince wastes no time in using his magic to blasts the monster soldiers away, but he is eventually attacked by the most vicious among them, but just as he is about to go in for the kill, he is saved in the last-minute by queen Aanya, the young ruler of Duren, who has gathered her forces against Viren as well as the soldiers who went against Viren and they manage to turn the tide of the battle and he embraces his little brother in triumph.

After putting down the monster soldiers and the ones who support Viren in his campaign, Callum then thinks it will come to an end once they capture the dark mage, and they manage to learn where he is... at the top of the spire which he managed to climb while his army held his enemies off. With this news now known, Callum rushes to the top of the spire to help his girlfriend protect the young prince, but they arrive too late as Viren begins the spell that starts absorbing the dragon prince. Left with no other option, Rayla lunges at the dark mage that sends them both falling down the mountain, leaving a terrified Callum falling down as well to save Rayla, as they fall Callum desperately tries to use the wing spell again to no avail, but once he calms down and recites it again, it actually works and he swoops it and saves Rayla from crashing, declaring their love for each other as they head back up, leaving his dad's ex-best friend and high mage to fall to his death.

With Viren's reckless campaign against Xadia finally over, Callum flies Rayla back up to reunite with his allies as they celebrate their victory and the change they gave to the world. Which only get even better as Callum heads to the dragon lair with a couple of his friends, where they witness the awakening of Queen Zubeia as they officially introduce her to her child, where he holds hands with Rayla to signal the Dragon Queen that humans and elves have finally entered an era of peace again.

Through the Moon[]

In the comic book Through the Moon, following the dawning of a new age of peace, Callum helps Rayla in trying to find Viren and help her remake the Moon Nexus since she was having nightmares where Viren killed Callum or put him in a fate worse than death like he did with her parents and Runnan, so Rayla could see, and saves her from when if Viren was alive or not, and saved Rayla when undead soldiers try to kill her.

Understanding that Viren was alive and to make sure that Callum wouldn't risk his life for her, Rayla searched for Viren, Callum crying after reading the message Rayla put in his room before leaving, with Ezran trying to comfort him. One day, Callum went to clean Viren's dungeon while he was cleaning the castle. After seeing the mirror Aaravos was imprisoned in, Callum decided to have the dungeon closed because only bad things came from there. However, Callum, unaware of the mirror's true nature, decided to keep it in his office.

Book 4: Earth[]

A year later, Callum analyzes a mirror Viren used to own and asks what secrets was it hiding, and a soldier knocks at his door and tells him that Ezran, now a king, requested Callum to go to a meeting. Callum would go to the meeting, but not before telling the guard that he could just call him Callum and not by his title. Callum would then go to the reunion where he tells Callum and the rest of his council that Zubeia was coming to Katolis. After this, he hears Soren talking to Corvus, which Callum presumes is about Ezran being in danger.

Callum then tried to talk to Ezran, but Corvus and Soren convinced Callum that it was something else, and they talked in his room, where Corvus asked about Aaravos' mirror, with Callum told him that he was to find out how it worked and that he got a book from Amaya about it.

Callum then saw that Ezran's room turned dark, causing Callum to fly to the room to see if his brother was right, only to find out Ezran and his friends prepared a birthday party for him. During the party, Callum would go to the balcony of Ezran's room, where Ezran would go to comfort, and after understanding that Callum didn't believe it was his birthday because Rayla left him during his birthday two years ago, Ezran would tell Callum that Rayla was still alive and still loved him.

The next day, Callum gets a book from the Associate Crow Lord to decipher the letters in the mirror, which he does, and finds out that what was written in the mirror is "In the darkness, gaze upon a fallen star". Right after finding out about the meaning of the letters, a cuddle monkey named Stella appears and steals the Key of Aaravos from Callum, and then she goes to a person's shoulder, who is revealed to be Rayla, happy to see Callum again. However, Callum refused to talk to her and said she would speak to her the next day because he was tired.

Rayla then asked why he would not be interested in talking to her even though it had been two years since they last met, but Callum angrily told her that it was because she left him and only left a note and hadn't visited him while she was after Viren, which she failed to find, making the time she was away worthless. Despite this, Callum allowed her to sleep next to him. Rayla would leave while Callum was sleeping, and Callum overslept and forgot about Zubeia's appearance in Katolis.

After waking up, Callum immediately brought objects to entertain Zubeia and left to see her. He then tried to make a magic trick for Zubeia to see, but he failed and it caused Barius' giant jelly tart to explode. Despite this, Zubeia liked the jelly tart anyway and deemed it the best jelly in all of Xadia, causing Barius to become happy.

During a ceremony made to represent the peace between the Xadia and the Human Kingdoms, he honored his father in the statue made in the latter's memory. He would later find out that someone called "the fallen star" is returning from Ibis, who sent a message to Zubeia before he died. He, Rayla, Ezran, Soren, Azymondias, and Zubeia would go to the Storm Spire, where the Dragon Queen explains to them that the "fallen star" returning is named Aaravos: an evil Startouch elf who was responsible for bringing chaos across the world for centuries before a human girl discovered his true colors and the Archdragons sealed him away somewhere no one knows where, returning to the Spire they find Ibis' body, so they make a small ceremony for him before trying to analyze Aaravos' mirror, Zubeia explained to them that the mirror acted as the window into the prison & activated it to see their enemy, but Aaravos possessed Callum before they could find out. With Callum under his control, Aaravos taunted Team Zym and spoke how Callum was already tainted by darkness and was destined to fall into his hand, while also telling them he would return and that it was inevitable, he then destroys his mirror and Callum turns back to normal, while also making them unable to see his next move.

The following morning, after he and Rayla have another moment before being called into the hall by Soren, again, Callum and co. discover that someone is planning to free Aaravos, to which Soren deduces that because of the fallen star's manipulative tactics, he manipulated his dad into doing what he plans to do, but now that he's gone Aaravos has now turned his attention to Claudia. Determined to stop her, Zubeia brings Team Zym to the great mountain of Umber Tor where the Archdragon of earth, Rex Igneous lives so they could find out where Aaravos was imprisoned, and after going there, they find out that the only way to Rex was through a small gate that only normal sized people could get in, causing Zubeia to leave to the Storm Spire and wish them good luck.

While going to get to Rex, they found a group of Earthblood Elves named Drakeriders, who hunt the wild dragons in there and beat them until they are under their control. Knowing this, Team Zym decides to stay hidden from them for a day. While Rayla and Soren investigate their surroundings, Callum stays with Ezran, where the eldest boy confessed to his brother than he cannot help but think about that moment he was possessed by Aaravos. Ezran mistakes Callum's confession about his relationship with Rayla rather than the moment Aaravos possessed him. However, Callum admits to Ezran how unsure he is about his relationship with Rayla now since they had been away from each other for a very long time. Soren was also captured by Drakeriders, but he was able to escape from them thanks to him befriending the dragon that they planned to use to have Soren get eaten.

The next day, Callum, Ezran, Bait, Rayla and Stella journey to seek Rex Igneous and notice that they still haven't found Soren; only signs of a struggle. Zym suddenly appears before them and gives Callum one of his "zappy kisses." The prince calls Zym out on disobeying his mother about staying in the Storm Spire and went after the groupHe tells him to go back home but Ezran tells his friends that Zym didn't want to go home. With no alternative, Callum suggests they use Ezran and Zym's telepathic bond by sending the young dragon up in the air and use his eyes. However, Zym is brought down by one of the Drakeriders. The group then defeated Warlon, the leader of the Drakeriders, and one of the members was N'than, who was holding Zym hostage until they made him realize he captured the Dragon Prince. N'than joins team Zym and brings them to the temple where they could find Rex Igneous. They go through several obstacles, such as a path made by touching specific crystals and creatures who attacked anything that could make light. They successfully come across the remaining pieces of Soren's armor as Rayla despairs of not listening to Soren earlier. However, Callum comforted her that Soren was ablr up escape. N'than warns them that the Path of Perils gets more dangerous the more they travel. Despite this, Callum insists that they have to get to Rex Igneous.

The group traverses the Path of Peril. As they do, they traverse through a cavern full of magic gems, and Callum claims a Moon Opal for himself. He accidentally dropped the Key of Aaravos, causing dangerous Earthen Creatures to attack them. Callum fended off the creatures as much as he could until Zym came and saved his friends. After they successfully make it to Rex Igneous, Callum created a wall of cold wind so they can make camp for the night. Callum wakes Rayla up and ask her to kill him if Aaravos tries to possess him again. However, Rayla wants no part of it and tells him to rewrite his own destiny as that is what Callum is known for. Fearful of the Future, Callum takes the key and almost throws it into the volcano but decided to keep it.

Before they meet Rex, they found out that the Earth Archdragon and Zym's father Avizandum were rivals. Callum helps Rayla turn Zym into a dog so he won't get in trouble with Rex. When they met Rex, Callum presents his Sky staff amongst the gifts. However, Rex originally disliked the gifts he gave them and planned to kill Team Zym, but Ezran gave him a brown sludge tart Barius made for him, which Rex liked. They asked him where Aaravos was, but Rex laughed about why he would even tell them where the most dangerous being in the world was.

Ezran told Rex that Zubeia sent them, but Rex started asking why she would ask him for help and not her mate Avizandum and started mocking Avizandum, causing Azymondias to attack Rex in a fit of rage, and Azymondias accidentally revealed himself and broke the illusion, so Rex started taunting Zym over how much he thought his father was a coward for sending his son to him rather than going to him by himself.

Callum revealed that a dark mage, Claudia was hoping to break Aaravos out of his prison. Ezran then told Rex that Avizandum was dead and was killed by Viren, causing him to decide to help them since Avizandum used to be his friend before they became rivals by telling them of the map he had in one of his tooth. However, Claudia appeared and put everyone but Zym to sleep. Soren was able to wake Rayla up by putting his foot close to her nose. Rayla then woke up Rex to stop Claudia from getting the map to Aaravos' prison by stabbing him in his left paw.

Rex would then wake the others up him starting to scream and causing the cave they were in to start collapsing. Ezran tried to call him down, Rex believed they were trying to deceive him, so Rex tried to kill Team Zym. However, Callum blocked Rex with the Aspiro soul. While they were able to escape, Rayla and Stella went after Viren, with Callum's approval this time. After team Zym escape from Rex Igneous, Callum, Soren, Ezran and Bait struggled to open the kingdom's gates until Soren encouraged his friends to think with their hearts. As Rex B nearly killed them, Zubeia appeared and stopped him, causing Rex to get back to his cave. In the aftermath of the battle, Callum sees one of Rayla's blades and thinks she perished. However, he suddenly notices that she is trapped underneath the rubble and digs her out. Callum and Rayla share a long overdue hug before the rest of the team comes in for a group his. Unfortunately, Claudia is two steps ahead of the group.

Book 5: Ocean[]

Later, while Ezran and the others were trying to contact the arch dragon of the ocean Domina Profundis to find out where Aaravos' prison was located, Callum and Rayla stayed in Katolis. During this time, he saw Rayla making a promise to Bait, but when he asked Rayla she lied to him. Rayla then asked Callum to search for information about how they could be able to kill Aaravos.

While searching in the library, he saw that all the information about Aaravos disappeared from the books of Katolis' library. She would then meet with Rayla and tell her about what happened to the books, so Rayla told him to search for the information about "the First Elves". To get to Viren's dungeon, Rayla had Stella steal the key to Callum's office.

After grabbing a book about the First Elves at the library, the Associate Crow Lord informs Callum that Rayla has been arrested, so he goes to talk to Opeli, who tells him that Rayla broke into his office, went to Viren's dungeon, and had the weapon that was used to kill King Harrow. Despite this, Callum told Opeli to free Rayla, which she did.

When Rayla went to explain why she stole his key, Callum told her that he didn't need to explain anything and she could say it when she was ready. He also told her that all the information about the First Elves was in the Scrolls of the First Elves, which was located in the Great Bookery of Lux Aurea. The next day, they would decide to go to the Great Bookery, but before they did, Barius gave them some of his new treats he called Doughie-o's, and Opeli told Callum she would inform Ezran of his plan to go to Lux Aurea.

During their trip to Lux Aurea, they would sleep in an inn. The next day, while crossing the breach into Xadia, Rayla would comment that it was a scar caused by Viren, but Callum optimistically told her that it was a symbol of union between humans and the creatures of Xadia, and that they were now crossing it together. That night, they would look into the stars and comment how the constelations were called differently by humans and elves.

Later, a corrupted banther would attack them, but they were able to escape from it. At the Sunfire camp, they would meet with Gren, who found out that they were unaware that Amaya and Janai were going to get married, and after finding out about it, Callum hugged his aunt and congratulated her for the wedding, before telling her that the world might be in danger.

However, after telling them that they needed to go to Lux Aurea to stop Aaravos from being freed, Janai refused to allow them, as she didn't want to have more people to get killed because of the corruption of the Sunforge that was caused by Aaravos two years prior. Because of this, Rayla and Callum decided to try to go to Lux Aurea in secret, with Amaya finding out and convincing Janai to allow them.

While Janai stayed to protect her camp, Amaya, Gren and Kazi went with Callum and Rayla to the Bookery of Lux Aurea. There, they find about the existence of a weapon called the Novablade that could kill a Startouch Elf, which was located at the Starscaper. During this, Rayla told Callum about her loved ones trapped in cursed coins, with Callum promising that he would help her free them and finds that it was needed a quasar diamond to free people from cursed coins, which were also at the Starscraper.

While they were leaving the Bookery, a corrupted banther was eating their horse's corpse, so they tried to leave more secretly so they wouldn't get detected by the banthers, but it fails. When it seemed like they were going to get killed by the corrupted banthers, Zubeia and the rest of Team Zym appeared and saved them, while Amaya and Corvus stayed while they were able to survive by hiding in the Bookery's bookdrop until the sun rose so they could leave Lux Aurea.

That morning, Callum talked with Ezran that they found a way to kill Aaravos and that they should go find the Novablade. Ezran, however, disagreed and thought on finding the archmage Akiyu, who knew the location of Aaravos' prison, as he believed killing Aaravos should only be done as a last resort. Rayla agreed and the group decided to go to find Akiyu. At the tidepools Akiyu close to, the group was faced with giant carrion gulls, who almost killed them has it not been for a small tidebound elf who called herself Tidebound Tina saving them by scaring off the gulls.

Callum then asked Tina if she knew about Archmage Akiyu, with her using a sea shell to make it look like she was calling Akiyu and saying that she didn't want to meet with Team Zym. Because Tina rejected any of their attempts to explain why they needed to talk to Akiyu, the crew decided to go to find Akiyu anyway regardless of her warning. Understanding that she wouldn't be able to stop them, Tina brought them to a giant monster's mouth, which almost ate the crew with the exception of Soren who found out it was a trap before entering the monster's mouth, although they are all able to survive thanks to Zym forcing the monster to throw them out by eletrocuting his stomach.

After surviving the monster, Callum realizes that Tidebound Tina is Akiyu, and understanding that she wouldn't be able to hide anything from them, Akiyu told them why she tried to hide the information about Aaravos and why she tried to kill them, due to her making a solem promise to a human mage called the jailer centuries go when they were making the prison for Aaravos.

However, after finding out people were trying to free Aaravos, Akiyu revealed the prison's location to Team Zym, while also giving Callum a necklace with runes in it, before having them leave her cave. The team then tries to wait for Zubeia to arrive so they could get to the Sea of Castout where Aaravos' prison was located, but after realizing that she wouldn't come due to the injuries that she got while the corrupting banthers at the Bookery of Lux Aurea, Rayla decided to find a ship in the town of Scumport so they could get at the Sea of the Castout.

There, Callum and Ezran tried to make a deal with Finnegrin, the leader of the town, for a ship, although it didn't work. During this, Soren is able to meet with Villads, who decides to help Team Zym in getting to the Sea of the Castout. Before they left, however, the crew helped Ezran take a box from Finnegrin's office, which were later revealed to be infant glow toads. Because of this, Finnegrin decided to go after them.

Despite the crew's attempts to escape from Finnegrin's ship, it was eventually capable of capturing the crew, with Finnegrin's bringing Callum to his quarters. There, Finnegrin tries to make a deal with Callum that he would free him and his friends in exchange for him doing a dark magic spell for him, which he refuses, leading to Finnegrin to have his bodyguard Deadwood torture Callum with sea anemones to force him to do it, although it fails.

Later, Finnegrin tries to make another attempt to force Callum to do dark magic by threatening to have his friends' hands cut off, but before he was forced to decide, Rayla broke from her chains and tried to attack Finnegrin, although he used a spell called Veinus Frigardis, which made her fall to the ground in pain. Angered by this, Finnegrin punched Callum, which lead to Finnegrin ordering Deadwood to knocked out Callum and bring him back to his quarters.

There, he told Callum that he would have Rayla eaten to a sea leviathan out of spite for punching him, and doesn't change his mind even when he told him of a dark magic spell capable of killing Domina Profundis, the archdragon of the ocean. Because of this, Callum reluctantly decides to do dark magic to save Rayla, with Finnegrin later getting killed by Deadwood, whose real name is Elmer, by throwing him into a sea leviathan, freeing Callum, his friends, and Finnegrin's crew.

Arriving at the Sea of the Castout, Callum used the necklace Akiyu gave him to make a spell that would make the crew capable of breathing underwater and be able to get to the place where Aaravos' prison was located. There, they fight Claudia, who had turned into a half-octopus through a dark magic spell to get to Aaravos' prison, with the team being able to defeat her by Rayla cutting off her left leg and Callum opening her vile that contained a potion that kept her a octopus hybrid and getting it to disapate through the water, turning Claudia back to normal and forcing her to go back to the surface to breathe. The crew was then able to get Aaravos' prison that was on a pearl and went back to their boat where Soren was waiting for them.

Book 6: Stars[]

After this, Team Zym returned to Katolis, and told Opeli and Barius about Aaravos' pearl. They then question what to do with the pearl, with Callum suggesting they should destroy it. However, due to the uncertainty of wheter or not destroying the pearl would either kill or free Aaravos, they decide it is too risky and Ezran makes the decision to keep it hidden and safe in the castle.

That evening, Callum was thinking about bringing the pearl to the Star Scraper so he could find out how to destroy it with the help of the Celestial Elves there. Rayla finds Callum after being told where he was by Stella, with Callum telling Rayla about the Star Scraper and how in addition to the place being where the Novablade was, it was also where the Quasar diamonds were, which would allow Rayla to free her parents and Runaan.

However, Rayla refused Callum's suggestion to leave to the Star Scraper with the pearl, saying that even if it hurt that her loved ones were trapped in the cursed coins and she does want to free them, she will not let her personal desires be above the good of the world, and decides to obey Ezran's decision to keep the pearl in the castle, with Callum reluctantly agreeing.

At night, Callum ends up possessed by Aaravos and goes to the dungeon, where by the take he's back to normal he was grabbing the pearl. Seeing how easily he was possessed by Aaravos, Callum goes to Rayla, and while talking to her, he makes up a plan, where he would write runes capable of preventing any spells from being used and writing them on a blanket for the pearl, while having Barius make a fake one made of candy to use as a decoy. Callum would then explain this to Rayla, and then would grab the pearl and put it inside the blanket.

The next day, Ezran says goodbye to Rayla and Callum as they prepared to go to the Star Scraper, and wished them good luck. In the middle of the travel, they end up in a middle of a frozen lake, where after the banther nearly drowned after breaking the ice, they decide to have it return to Ethari while they walked to the Star Scraper on foot. While traveling through the ice, they end up finding a frozen ship called the Ray of Illumination, with Rayla deciding to go into it while Callum stayed outside.

However, after hours passed and Rayla was still inside and hearing her cry, Callum decided to go there, where he found Rayla was crying due to something that she was reading on the diary of the ship's late captain, Esmeralda Skall. They then decide to sleep in the ship, although Callum initially refused to sleep on Rayla's blanket as he was still not fully over how Rayla left him for two years, but quickly deciding to do so after no longer being able to deal with the cold in the ship.

While Callum and Rayla were sleeping, Stella and Sneezles try to make them hug and get close to each other, with them waking up after doing so. They were then about to kiss, but before doing so, Callum pulled back and told Rayla he did dark magic. After this, Rayla asked why he would do such knowing it put him in terrible danger, with Callum explaining he did that to save her from Finnegrin.

Hearing this, Rayla tells Callum that if he ever has to chose between the greater good and her, he must sacrifice her to do the latter. At that moment, though, the ship began to break down, with Callum getting out while Rayla went back to get Aaravos' pearl. After this, Callum told Rayla that if he ever gets possessed by Aaravos again, she would kill him, with Rayla reluctantly agreeing.

Later arriving at the Star Scraper, Callum activates the runes in an elevator to get to up to it, and while there, they are met with the Celestial Elves, including their leader The Elder. The Elder would ask if they were the Chosen Two, and after Callum said that they weren't, he drops Callum and Rayla of the scraper by deactivating the elevator. However, before they could fall to the ground, Callum reactivated the runes and allowed them to float in the elevator.

Despite this, though, the pearl would end up falling off the elevator, with Stella ending up in the same situation while trying to grab it. Despite this, the two end up being saved by a Celestial Elf named Astrid, with her and her brother Kosmo meeting Callum and Rayla. The two celestial elves then allow Callum and Rayla to stay in the Star Scraper so they could rest before they left the next morning.

However, while guiding them to their rooms, Astrid and Kosmo note the similarities between Callum and Rayla have with the Chosen Two, and come to believe that it's them. They would then go to the Elder, and while there, Callum asks if they have the Novablade so they could kill a Startouch Elf and stop his plans. The Elder explains that the Novablade was given to a human warrior centuries ago, but regardless, they still wouldn't be able to kill Aaravos as killing a Startouch Elves' physical form would only lead them to return to the stars where they would wait for them to remake their bodies and return to the world.

Despite this, Kosmo explains that their quest wasn't for nothing, as they could still help them by stopping a creature that was causing a storm around the Star Scrapper for centuries now and thus made the Celestial Elves unable to take off their blindfolds. At night in their rooms, Rayla suggests leaving, but Callum thinks they should stay and face the creature like the prophecy said, which Rayla found odd given Callum usually said that destiny was a book that you write yourself, but Callum explains that they could defeat the creature by using the spell Callum used to stop Finnegrin from using Veinus Frigardis.

The next morning, Callum and Rayla go and find the beast, and there, she helps Rayla get to the top of it. However, just as she was about to carve the runes on the creature, Rayla understood what it was. The creature was the pet of the late Luna Tenebris, Esmeray, and that the storm it was causing was done by the pain of the loss of its master. Rayla then decides to not carve the runes and tells Callum to not attack it as well, opting to calm Esmeray down by singing it a lullaby. After claming it down, the storm stopped and they retuned to the Star Scraper.

There, the Elder and the other Celestial Elves thanked Callum and Rayla, giving them the Corona of the Heavens, a crown that contained the three quasar diamonds, before going to the top of the scraper and taking off their blindfolds. At that moment, Kosmo becomes timeblind, making him capable of seeing the future. After talking to his sister and Rayla, Kosmo goes to Callum, and seeing his future filled with darkness, he ends up falling unconsious.

The next day, Callum and Rayla go to The Elder and suggest that the Celestial Elves could keep the pearl there. Kosmo, who looked into the pearl, found out it was actually a decoy, and the real one was still in Katolis, but seeing a future where telling Callum would cause him to not do a ritual that would stop him from getting controled by Aaravos as the reveal would destroy his confidence, Kosmo decides to hide the truth, with the Elder agreeing on guarding the pearl.

After this, Kosmo and Astrid tell Callum about the ritual, making it clear he would be free of Aaravos' control so long as he didn't do dark magic again, which he does by flying blindfolded and being able to find Rayla amongst the stars. That night, Callum decides to convince Rayla to replay the time she returned after two years, which she does, and the two end up kissing.

Next morning, Callum and Rayla decide to fly to the Moon Nexus, where they find Lujanne and Allen. Then, Lujanne reveals that one of the quasar diamonds in the Corona of the Heavens was a fake, making it clear Rayla had to choose which one of her loved ones she had to save from the cursed coins. Lujanne would then prepare the Moon Nexus so Rayla could find her loved ones in the plane between life and death, while Callum stayed near it to make sure said loved ones would be freed from the cursed coins using a spell.

In that plane, Rayla decides to let her parents go to the afterlife, as she understood that they were already happy and that there would be no need to choose with them. However, she ends up saving Runaan by convincing him to come back to the world to keep his promise that he would return to Ethari, with Callum then freeing him from his cursed coin. Right after Runaan returned, though, Callum finds out that the castle of Katolis was burning, having been destroyed by Sol Regem.
