Camie is a major supporting character in One Piece. She is a mermaid that is rescued by the Straw Hat Pirates during the Sabaody Archipelago arc. She, and her starfish friend Pappag, is initially rescued from being eaten by a sea king (for the twentieth time) and subsequently aided the Straw Hats in rescuing Hatchan from the Macro Pirates and the Flying Fish Riders (later known as the Rosy Life Riders). Camie accompanies the Straw Hats to Sabaody Archipelago until she is captured by bounty hunters, who turn her over to a trafficking ring for money, from which the Straw Hats]eventually rescue her.
After the time-skip, Camie now works as a waitress for the Mermaid Cafe on Fish-Man Island and once again, aids the Straw Hats in their battle against Hody Jones during the Fish-Man Island Arc.
Camie is voiced by Haruna Ikezawa in Japanese and Megan Shipman in English.
Biography[]
Camie is a young Kissing Gourami mermaid who dreams of being a fashion designer. She has a tendency to be eaten by sea monsters and kidnapped by slavers, having met Hatchan when he rescued her from one such incident. She helps him open a seafood stand after he saved her again from a group of Fish-man slavers. When she and Hatchan take the Straw Hats to the Sabaody Archipelago, her being kidnapped by slavers (yes, again) sets off a series of escalating From Bad to Worse moments for the pirate crew. She is accompanied by a talking starfish named Pappagu, who constantly frets over her safety. Hatchan's friend Shakky teases her occasionally for having a crush on the octopus Fish-man.
Abilities[]
Mermaids are among the fastest creatures in the sea, and Camie's no exception. When putting her mind to it, Camie can outswim the Flying Fish Rider's mounts, which are known as some of the fastest animals underwater.
