Candice is the Pokémon Gym Leader in Snowpoint City. She hands out the Icicle Badge to Trainers who defeat her. She specializes in Ice-Type Pokémon.
She is voiced by Noriko Shitaya and Kaori Sakurai in the Japanese version, and by Kether Donohue and Ryan Bartley in the English version.
Appearance[]
Candice has black hair and amber eyes. Her attire consists of brown shoes, long white and blue striped socks, a brown skirt, a long-sleeved white shirt, and a blue cardigan most of the time tied around her waist but sometimes when just talking worn on top of the white shirt. Candice has never said anything of why she wears a sweater tied around her waist but just does it joyfully.
Personality[]
Candice is a very sociable trainer and a bit of an oddball to say the least. Her choice of clothing, given her type specialty, may suggest she enjoys the cold a little too much. Embracing her youthful appearance, Candice is cheerful, happy-go-lucky and warm-hearted among her peers.
Candice is very interested in fashion and romance as well as Pokémon, and believes everybody should put all their focus into whatever they do. She also tends to refer to herself in the third person. Her philosophy that bonding closely with one's Pokémon says a lot about her.
Biography[]
Games[]
Candice is the 7th gym leader in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. She is found in Snowpoint city and uses ice type Pokémon. When defeated, she gives the player the TM Avalanche and is able to use Rock Climb out of battle. Once the player successfully defeats Cynthia, she is the one to ask the guard to allow them access to Snowpoint Temple, where Regigigas can be caught. She also appears in the Pokémon World Tournament in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
Anime[]
Candice debuts in "Classroom Training!". Despite her title, few challengers came to her hometown. As a result, she spent most of the time as a schoolteacher. It's also revealed that she's childhood friends with Zoey, since both of them took care of a homeless Glameow that later became Zoey's partner Pokémon and both have nicknames were Zoey calls Candice, Miss Senior while Candice calls Zoey, "Zo-Zo". She appears to be fond of the word, "kiai", and places it in sentences. Candice greets Ash and friends when they arrived in Snowpoint City and asks Ash to help her class as Candice's assistant teacher.
She is excited about a challenger coming to her city and eagerly accepts Ash's Gym Challenge the next day, while Zoey and her friends watched in the episode "Sliding into Seventh!". Candice's tactics consisted of a barrage of close-range physical attacks and defense strategies to overcome type disadvantages. Despite this, she loses to Ash. Shortly after Ash won, Paul showed up to challenge Candice. Unfortunately, as Ash had his Gym battle, Candice postponed it to a later day, which Paul accepts without question. She later watches Paul battle Brandon in "A Pyramiding Rage!", where Paul loses due to letting his anger get the better of him.
She has made a few cameo appearances watching Zoey and Dawn compete through various contests.
