Capt. Bollin is a police captain who solves a murder within an explosion along with John Shaft, in Shaft's Big Score (1972), the first sequel of the Shaft franchise.
He was played by Julius W. Harris.
We first see him at the crime scene of the murder of Cal Asby. He is an arrogant guy, which I'll explain later. He interrogates John, but John tells him off. But he then investigates Johnny Kelly, who's more of a butt kisser. Next, we see him at a funeral. The next day he comes to John Shaft to take him in for questioning. He interrogates him as to his relationship with Cal, who he knows was involved in money number rackateering. Bollin is shown to hate his own race. He's a more tamed version of the later, 1991 film character of Officer Coffey in Boyz n the hood --- only difference is this movie hates "butt-kissing" wheres Boys seems to glorify it. But when John finally intices him to interrogate him the hard way, because John is after all, a "bad motherf--ker," Bollin gets mad. But reluctantly he gives into John's demands for street time for the investigation. At the end, when Mascola and his family are killed, John runs into him one more time. He wants to know where the money is. But Bollin fails to find out.
