Captain Cold is a character from the DC Comics, he was initially a villain and an enemy to The Flash although he temporarily became a member of the Justice League after the Evil Forever saga.
Raised by an abusive father, Len Snart sought to start a criminal career following the death of his grandfather. At first, he attempted simple thievery with a band of thugs. After this failure to produce satisfactory results, he went solo. During a botched robbery of a cyclotron, Snart's gun was altered by the cyclotron's radiation, allowing it fire beams of pure cold, and from time to time, cast illusions. Putting together a blue and white parka, Len became Captain Cold, one of the Flash's deadliest enemies. He is currently the leader of the Rogue's Gallery. But in the New 52, after the Crime Syndicate was defeated, Cold was stopped his own life of crime and became a member of the Justice League along with Lex Luthor.
Powers and Abilities[]
Cold has no superhuman powers or abilities. He briefly possessed the capacity for cryokinesis, gained after he fused his DNA with his cold gun using a genome recoder. However, this capacity was stripped from him by Deathstorm. He is fairly intelligent and a skilled leader and tactician, with particular skill in planning crimes. His careful study of his gun has left him with a certain level of mechanical engineering skill, and he is able to completely rebuild the gun from scratch with limited time and resources.
Weapons and Equipment[]
Captain Cold carries a cold gun that creates absolute zero, that is, it is capable of completely inhibiting atomic movement. The gun can be used to a variety of effects, including: freezing objects in blocks of ice; generating cold fields that will slow any person or object that enters it; creating ice patches that are slippery or reflective; and generating icicles. He also wears a pair of snow goggles designed to limit the glare given off by his gun and enable him to see clearly while firing.
