Captain Marvelous is a main protagonist of the Gokaiger series. He was the captain of the Gokaigers.
He was portrayed by Ryota Ozawa.
Biography[]
He is the loyal and honorable captain of the Gokaigers and can transform into Gokai Red. Before the events of the series, he recruited all of his friends he met on his way into his pirate crew. Always sparkling, Marvelous is a "wild man". He desires everything to be stimulating, and he is always curious. Once he sets his aims on a target, he moves forward without flinching, no matter what. Marvelous is the type to poke his head in where it does not belong, and he often brandishes his crew with unreasonable orders. Many years before the events of the series, Marvelous was an orphan and was saved from death by the Space Sheriff Gavan, and later by AkaRed, who recruited him to his Red Pirate Gang, along with Basco ta Jolokia, who was once Marvelous's best friend, before he betrayed his former comrades and became Marvelous's archenemy. Though he is the team leader, Captain Marvelous is an unpredictable sort of character who does reckless things to satisfy his curiosity, stating his actions as what any pirate would do in that particular moment. He is much stronger than he looks, evidently seen in episode 7 where he throws darts while wearing a heavy bracelet that Don can barely carry with both hands. His strength is also displayed in a flashback in episode 12, where he rips the Zangyack tracking collar off Joe's neck. His bounty was initially at Z=1,000,000 when they met Ahim and was increased to Z=1,500,000 before reaching Earth, but this is eventually raised to Z=3,000,000. This is then raised even further to Z=5,000,000. After the death of Warz Gill, he now has a "UNLIMITED" reward bounty on his head, meaning if anyone captures Marvelous and hands him over to the Zangyack, the captors can get any kind of reward in return. With five Gokai Sabers and five blue Ranger Keys, Gokai Red can perform the Final Wave Gokai Blast and Slash. (五刀流ブルースラッシュ Gotōryū Burū Surasshu).
Personality[]
Once a member of the Red Pirate Gang that collected the Ranger Keys, after Basco betrayed the group and tried to steal them for himself, Marvelous took the Ranger Keys and formed the Gokaigers to go to Earth and find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe first. Starting out greedy and self-interested, Marvelous and his crew come to blows with the Zangyack Empire when they invade again while they are gathering the Greater Powers from various Sentai and learning about heroism from them. After pulling off a risky move to kill Basco and take the last of the Sentai Greater Powers, Marvelous finally obtains the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, but destroys it after learning it will take away the powers of the Sentai if used. Marvelous then leads the Gokaigers in a final battle to defend the Earth from Zangyack, having become a true hero in the end even if he'll never admit it.
