Adrien Émile Gabriel Donatien Athanase Agreste, better known as Cat Noir, is one of the titular main protagonists of the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir series. He is a student at Collège Françoise Dupont and a fashion model. With his magical ring, inhabited by a Kwami named Plagg, he has the power of bad luck and can transform into the superhero Cat Noir (Chat Noir in the French version).
In season 3, he temporarily receives the Ladybug Miraculous from Tikki, which, when inhabited by her, can transform him into Mister Bug, a ladybug-themed superhero, and in "Desperada", he temporarily receives the Snake Miraculous from Ladybug, which, when inhabited by the Kwami Sass, can transform him into Aspik, a snake-themed superhero.
He is voiced by Benjamin Bollen in the French version. In the English version, he is voiced by Bryce Papenbrook, who also voiced Guan Ping in the Dynasty Warriors series, Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, Masaomi Kida in Durarara, Makoto Naegi and Nagito Komaeda in Danganronpa, Meliodas in The Seven Deadly Sins, Kazuto Kirigaya in Sword Art Online, Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, Zidane Tribal in Final Fantasy IX, Shirou Emiya in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Rokuro Enmado in Twin Star Exorcists, Lance in Doki Doki! Pretty Cure!, Kagura Karatachi in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Silver the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog, and Staz Charlie Blood in Blood Lad. In the Japanese version, he was voiced by Ryōta Ōsaka.
Appearance[]
Adrien is a bit taller than Marinette, and he has brushed-back blond hair and green eyes. He is also half British and half French.
He wears a white shirt, with a collar and rolled-up sleeves above his elbow, and a black shirt underneath with five horizontal stripes around the chest which are colored, from top to bottom, yellow, olive green, bright green, dark green, and periwinkle. On the ring finger of his right hand, he wears a silver-colored ring that he uses to transform into Cat Noir. Additionally, he wears dark blue jeans and orange sneakers with white lace and a logo of a black butterfly shape in a circle on the sides.
As Cat Noir, he wears a black front zip catsuit with a golden bell on his chest. The suit is made of the Kwami known as Plagg, and is completely indestructible. It clings to the wearer's body like spandex but can sometimes resemble vinyl, and cannot be taken off. The only way to remove it is to undo the transformation. He has a long belt that hangs out like a cat's tail, gloves with claws on the fingertips, and boots. He has black cat ears and a black mask covering part of his face. His eyes, including the sclera, are green and look cat-like, and his hair is messier and untamed, covering his normal ears. His ring turns black and gains a green paw print in the circle.
Personality[]
Adrien is charismatic, along with being shy and a bit reserved. While he likes to have fun, he is more serious, obedient, and less lively due to his strict upbringing. If something makes him sad, he tries to downplay his feelings on it, like his relationship with his father. He thinks reasonably, and he will express annoyance and frustration when someone is being difficult or something is going wrong. Though not very openly emotional or affectionate to most people, he is friendly and encouraging, and for those he is close to, he has an easier time letting his feelings show.
As Cat Noir, Adrien, having the freedom to act however he wants outside of his normal life, lets his wilder side come out, being cocky and outgoing. More optimistic and open, Cat Noir says whatever comes to his mind and makes a lot of jokes and puns, many being cat-related. In his attempts to get Ladybug's attention, along with other people, he brags and boasts about himself, but his change to his superhero status does not diminish his kindness and concern for others, among a lot of his other personality traits like irritation proneness and loyalty. While more prone to goofing off, Cat Noir gets serious when needed, like when fighting an Akumatized villain. It's rare for him to reveal his vulnerable, Adrien-like side, but it does come through at times, such as quietly commenting that not all parents are loving in "The Bubbler" and trying in vain to tell Ladybug about his love for her before their transformations wear off in "Dark Cupid". Determined to help others and save the day, Cat Noir cherishes being a superhero and is uninhibited by his civilian life. He also understands that it takes more than just superpowers to be a hero or useful as seen in "Reflekta" when, even though his powers were gone, he was able to help Ladybug out of a tight spot with his quick thinking. Cat Noir is also welcoming and friendly when it comes to accepting new additions to the team, having open arms for Lila in "Volpina" and Rena Rouge in "Sapotis".
According to Ladybug in "Copycat", Cat Noir may annoy her to pieces but he's never lied to her, meaning that he is honest. Also, as Cat Noir, Adrien has the people's loyalty, respect, trust, and help when he needs it, as seen in "Reflekta" and "Gorizilla".
Biography[]
Background[]
Adrien is the first-born son to Gabriel and Emilie Agreste. However, Emilie, along with her sister Amelie, were infertile, and despite the best medical efforts money could buy from their parents, they could not be helped to undo this and allow them to have children. That all changed when Emilie suggested to use the Peacock Miraculous, despite its damaged condition, to create a sentimonster that would also be part human by being born naturally in her womb. Despite his concerns of doing this after reading about the consequences of using a damaged Miraculous, Gabriel agreed, and the Graham de Vanily twin rings that served as Gabriel and Emilie's wedding rings became the object infused with the Amok created from the Peacock Miraculous to give creation to Adrien. Once placed in Emilie's womb, he developed like a normal human baby, and was born nine months later. Though Emilie and Gabriel were happy to have a child now, a jealous Colt Fathom, Amelie's husband, wanted one as well, and despite the risks, Gabriel agreed to loan him the Peacock Miraculous in return for hiring Placide I.T., also known as "Gorilla", as Gabriel's bodyguard to watch over Adrien. Thus, Amelie was able to give birth to Adrien's cousin, Felix.
However, the consequences for using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged began to take their toll on Emilie and Colt, and their health began to deteriorate, leading to Colt's death, while Emilie fell into a permanent coma, leaving Adrien and Gabriel devastated. Before she slipped into her coma, Emilie had recorded several video messages to encourage Gabriel and Adrien to let her go and move on with their lives, wanting them to be happy and not live with the grief of not having her in their lives anymore. While Adrien was able to overcome his grief and move on from his mother's passing, Gabriel couldn't, becoming obsessed with acquiring the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to summon Gimmi and wish to bring Emilie back to life so the family could be whole again, using the Butterfly Miraculous for evil instead of good, like all the Miraculous were designed for, becoming the supervillain Hawk Moth to terrorize Paris as he sought out the Miraculous needed to use the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power to bring Emilie back. This also caused Gabriel to become overly protective and keep Adrien inside the family mansion, rather than let him be able to go out and make friends, even go steady with Marinette Dupain-Cheng as boyfriend and girlfriend, as all Gabriel wanted was to have Emilie back in his and Adrien's lives before he would truly allow Adrien to be happy, even if it meant ruining Adrien's life to do it.
Season 1[]
Season 2[]
In the season finale, Cat Noir and Ladybug face their toughest battle yet when Hawk Moth Akumatizes everyone that had been an Akumatized supervillain in the past to attack them together. Not even their allies in Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee are immune as they too are Akumatized into Rena Rage, Shell-shock, and Queen Wasp. Despite the odds being against them, Ladybug and Cat Noir are able to work out a plan that allows them to destroy Hawk Moth's cane, undoing the Akumatizations all in one single blow, restoring everyone to normal, including Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee. However, before they can take Hawk Moth into custody and unmask him, and Ladybug takes back the Butterfly Miraculous, they are stopped by a new Peacock Miraculous user, Mayura, who allows Hawk Moth to escape, and when he transforms back into his civilian identity, Ladybug and Cat Noir lose the trail as a result. Now with Hawk Moth still on the loose, and aided by another Miraculous user in Mayura, things have gotten a lot harder for Ladybug, Cat Noir, and the rest of their French Miraculous Superhero Team.
Miraculous Shanghai[]
Season 3[]
In the episode "Cat Blanc", when Marinette attempts to leave a gift from herself to Adrien, but tries to do it quickly by becoming Ladybug so she can be in and out as fast as possible, she's too late and is seen by Adrien, who puts two and two together upon seeing the gift and figuring out Marinette is Ladybug. After Gabriel forces Marinette to break up with Adrien under threat of removing him from school, he attempts to Akumaztize her, but Adrien, transforming into Cat Noir in full view of Marinette and Nathalie, destroys the Akuma with Cataclysm, thus revealing his secret identity to Marinette and Nathalie, who notifies Gabriel, who decides to use this to his advantage. Unfortunately, when Gabriel lures Marinette and Adrien to his mansion, he reveals to Ladybug and Cat Noir the comatose body of Emilie, and himself as Hawk Moth, putting Adrien in an extreme state of emotional distress. Seizing the chance, Gabriel Akumatizes Cat Noir into Cat Blanc, hoping to maximize his use of the Cat Miraculous' use of destruction and Plagg's power to get the Ladybug Miraculous from Marinette if Adrien wants his mom back. However, Hawk Moth underestimates Adrien's emotional stress, and unable to use Cataclysm against his girlfriend or his father due to the sadistic choice presented to him, Cat Blanc turns it on himself, resulting in an apocalyptic explosion of the Cataclysm's energy, killing not just Marinette/Ladybug, Gabriel/Hawk Moth, and Emilie, but all of Paris and possibly the entire Earth as well, as the recoil also splits the Moon in half. Traumatized by what happened, and unaware of Ladybug's fate, Cat Blanc struggles to come to terms with what he did, soon losing his sanity due to the isolation he was now suffering because of his powers.
Having sensed this and how she will cease to exist if this dark future is not prevented, along with everyone else, the older Bunnyx summons Ladybug from the past to try and undo what happened. As the past Ladybug is sent to the apocalyptic future and meets Cat Blanc, when she is knocked into the flood waters engulfing Paris, she soon finds the petrified, if not incinerated, remains of her future self and Hawk Moth, with herself looking like she tried to reach out to Cat Blanc before meeting her untimely end. Upon trying to touch her own future self's remains, they crumble to ash almost instantly. Horrified by this revelation, and hearing Bunnyx pleading for her to hurry before the future is irreversible, Ladybug attempts to fight Cat Blanc, but is overpowered due to him having full use of Plagg's powers without any restraints. When he requests she hand over the Ladybug Miraculous so he can undo his mistakes, the moment Ladybug refuses, Cat Blanc prepares a Mega Cataclysm so huge and powerful, it could wipe out not just the Milky Way, but the whole universe as well, to the horror of Bunnyx. Seeing no other alternative, Ladybug surrenders, and Cat Blanc powers down his attack once he sees her throw up the white flag. However, as Ladybug approaches him, she attempts to kiss him and calls him "Cat Noir", but in a moment of clarity, as he tells her he is not Cat Noir anymore, he points to his bell, hinting that is where the Akuma that transformed him has been hiding all along. Seizing the moment, Ladybug grabs it, destroys it, and purifies the Akuma, restoring Cat Blanc back to Cat Noir. After the two talk for a bit, Ladybug is summoned by Bunnyx back to the Burrow, where she still needs to undo the event that would cause the bad future in the first place.
Figuring out it was her gift to Adrien that caused it, Ladybug travels back to just after her past self dropped the gift off, and quickly uses her Lucky Charm to erase Marinette's name on the card before using Miraculous Ladybug to repair the damage, thus saving older Bunnyx and everyone else from the grim fate that would've befell them. When Adrien comes in and finds her, Ladybug says the gift is from some fans of Adrien's from Brazil, thus ensuring the bad future of Cat Blanc is avoided.
In "Ladybug", Gabriel and Nathalie attempt to use their Catalyst/Scarlet Moth strategy again against Marinette, her classmates, parents, and the school faculty after Marinette is wrongfully expelled by Lila, but Nathalie's declining health from using the damaged Peacock Miraculous forces Gabriel to abandon the plan. Behind his back, she becomes Mayura and created a Sentimonster clone of Ladybug to terrorize Paris, forcing Cat Noir and the real Ladybug to confront her. When they manage to free the Sentimonster Ladybug by giving her the object with her Amok in it, Cat Noir is happy to have two Ladybugs helping him, but Mayura releases the Amok, destroying the Sentimonster Ladybug, to Cat Noir and the real Ladybug's horror. Infuriated, he charges Mayura, but Hawk Moth arrives to protect her, and rubs salt in the wound by taunting Cat Noir and Ladybug over getting "sentimental over a sentimonster". Cat Noir is soon taken hostage by Hawk Moth, but Ladybug captures Mayura, forcing both to release their hostages to fall to their deaths, and thus allow Hawk Moth and Ladybug to rescue their respective partners, allowing the villains to escape. Cat Noir calls Ladybug out on her choice, but both then think about the Sentimonster Ladybug, and realize that the Peacock Miraculous being used for evil is even worse than using the Butterfly Miraculous for evil.
Miraculous New York[]
Season 4[]
After Ladybug is forced to protect all of the other Miraculous from Shadow Moth now that their bearers' public identities were known to him, when she and Cat Noir are facing off with Strikeback, a much more powerful and dangerous Sentimonster, unknown to either Adrien or Marinette, Adrien's cousin, Felix, uses the Dog Miraculous he was given by Ladybug to secretly make a deal with Shadow Moth: The securing of the Miraculous inside the Miraculous Box for the repaired Peacock Miraculous. Despite suspecting a catch, Shadow Moth makes the deal, and Felix makes good on his end of the bargain, using the Dog Miraculous' Fetch ability to steal the Miraculous Box that contained the Miraculous right out from under Ladybug's nose after tagging her yo-yo with the ball provided by the Dog Miraculous. By the time she realizes it, it is too late to intervene. Shadow Moth gets the Miraculous, surrenders the Peacock Miraculous to Felix in return for the Dog Miraculous, and redubs himself "Monarch" as he delivers an ultimatum to all of Paris that he will continue threatening the city until Ladybug and Cat Noir surrender their Miraculous to him. Ladybug collapses in devastation and begins crying over her risk she took backfiring on her so severely, meaning now she and Cat Noir are back to where they originally started: Just the two of them against Hawk Moth, with no additional members of the French Miraculous Superhero Team to back them up anymore.
Season 5[]
Seeing Ladybug demoralized at losing the Miraculous to Monarch, Cat Noir assures her that he and all of Paris still support her and will help continue the fight to get the Miraculous back. Once they get back the Rabbit Miraculous, with a little help from Bunnyx to prevent Monarch from tampering with the space-time continuum, Cat Noir and Ladybug continue to thwart Monarch's plans, but during one fight, when captured by Cat Noir and Ladybug and about to be exposed as Adrien's father Gabriel while losing the Miraculous and Kwamis back to Ladybug, Monarch forces Cat Noir to do the unthinkable, and use his Cataclysm on Monarch, resulting in Gabriel being infected with a deadly necrosis that would slowly kill him as his body dissolved and disintegrated from the ability's effects, yet he does his best to avoid revealing this doomed fate of his to Adrien, while trying to use the borrowed time he now had to be a better father to him. Also, since he escaped with Ladybug's Lucky Charm still wrapped around him, she couldn't save him and undo the damage with Miraculous Ladybug, leaving Gabriel to suffer a slow, agonizing, painful death as a result.
However, since Gabriel had possession of the Graham de Vanily twin rings that contained Adrien's Amok due to his origins as a sentimonster through when Emilie used the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged to create Adrien and then give birth to him naturally, Gabriel could force Adrien to do as he said if Adrien tried to refuse, especially when it came to his growing romance and relationship with Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
To try and help restore hope to the people of Paris, Grevin Museum curator Veronique prepares to open a new exhibit with wax figurines of the French Miraculous Superhero Team joining those of Ladybug and Cat Noir already on display, replacing those of the Akumatized supervillains that were there previously, such as Lady Wifi. However, Chloe, angered at Queen Bee not being there and Vesperia was, again uses her father Andre's power as Mayor to force Veronique to keep the exhibit closed under threat of shutting down the wax museum due to a phony hygiene violation if she goes ahead with opening the exhibit anyway. Monarch takes advantage of Veronique's heartbreak and despair and Akumatizes her into Manipula, using her brochures to bring the wax figurines of Team Miraculous to life to fulfill her wish of restoring hope to Paris. Ladybug and Cat Noir are forced to fight the wax figures of their allies to recover pieces of the Megakuma in the brochures before confronting Manipula at City Hall, where she had taken Andre and Chloe hostage with the wax figures of Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Minotaurox. After beating their own wax figures, Ladybug and Cat Noir are overpowered, but thanks to Cat Noir's encouragement, Ladybug finds a way to incapacitate Manipula, allowing her to collect the rest of the Megakuma, purify it, use Miraculous Ladybug to repair all the damage, including restoring the wax figures to the museum unharmed and immobile again, and restore Veronique to normal, before convincing Andre to permit the exhibit's opening after all, much to Chloe's silent fury at not getting her way once more.
At one point, Gabriel/Monarch tries to take control of Tomoe's new spaceship and its A.I., A.D.A., while also creating the illusion of a giant asteroid heading for Paris. Marinette and Adrien are forced to become Cosmobug and Astrocat to split up and stop both plans, but thanks to using Second Chance through the Snake Miraculous, Monarch could keep resetting things until it worked in his favor. However, doing so accelerated his Cataclysm wound until he collapsed from nearly suffering a heart attack due to it spreading to his internal organs, stopping his plan from the very start before he could try again, rendering it a moot point, and leaving him with even less time left before his death.
Later, Adrien's cousin Felix, now going by the alias Argos after he acquired the Peacock Miraculous, attacks the Diamonds Dance where Gabriel was with Tomoe and Kagami, using his Sentimonster Red Moon to banish Tomoe and Gabriel to an unknown fate. After he does the same to everyone else in Paris, maybe the world, even snapping away Ladybug, he shows his efforts to Kagami and Adrien, but they are furious with him, demanding to know where Marinette is. Showing where he left her for her own safety, Argos is horrified when he finds Marinette is not there, and he can't bring her back by using his powers. Enraged, Adrien orders his cousin to return everyone, including Gabriel, Tomoe, and Marinette, at once. Remorseful, Argos complies, and Marinette, after reverting back from Ladybug, reunites with a relieved Adrien and Kagami. Argos, guilt-ridden by his actions caused by his anger at his uncle, releases Red Moon before breaking down in tears. Unknown to Adrien, Argos/Felix would use this as a means to help Adrien and Marinette in the future to stop Monarch/Gabriel by revealing his real identity to Marinette/Ladybug.
As time when on, Chloe was then able to force her father into resigning as Mayor of Paris, regretting all the actions he had done against the people of Paris, especially at Marinette's school due to Chloe using him as leverage to keep all her classmates, and the faculty, under her thumb under threat of disproportionate retribution if they wronged her in the slightest, allowing her to take over, supported by Gabriel, Tomoe, and Lila/Cerise. When she secretly makes a deal with Monarch behind everyone's backs to be Akumatized as Queen Mayor, using Tomoe's police robots to enforce her corrupt control of Paris by having them imbued with the powers of the Ox, Rooster, Horse, Bee, and Turtle Miraculous, she makes the lives of everyone in Paris that ever wronged her in even the smallest way a living nightmare as she banished them to her special "detention" maze to be imprisoned forever. When Adrien refuses to become her Deputy Mayor under threat of blackmail with Chloe telling Marinette of Adrien's impending departure to London, secretly a plot by Gabriel and Tomoe to get Adrien and Kagami out of Paris for their endgame called Operation Perfect Alliance, Chloe sends him to the maze as well. However, Adrien and Marinette are able to conceal themselves to allow their transformations into Ladybug and Cat Noir to be hidden, before going after Chloe after freeing everyone else from the maze. However, she captures them and prepares to expose their true identities to all of Paris as their transformations were about to revert back due to using Lucky Charm and Cataclysm, triggering their delayed time-outs to change back. However, Alya and the other members of Team Miraculous rally the people of Paris to rise up in revolt against Chloe thanks to Ladybug's encouragement, and Ladybug and Cat Noir are able to override the time limits on their Miraculous transformations through sheer willpower, allowing them to stay in their superhero forms indefinitely and use Lucky Charm and Cataclysm without needing to revert back to recuperate, much to Gabriel/Monarch's fury when he sees it before retreating with Lila and Tomoe, leaving Chloe to fend for herself against the angry mob of Parisians coming for her head. Even Chloe's own mother Audrey flees upon seeing things go sour for her daughter. After Chloe is stripped of her mayoral sash, which contained the Megakuma that turned her into Queen Mayor, before Ladybug can give her a Magical Charm to render her immune to future Akumatizations, ex-Mayor Bourgeois steps in to see to punishing his daughter himself to atone for his past mistakes, including divorcing his wife Audrey and banishing both of them from Paris indefinitely, sending them back to New York in disgrace.
Despite this victory, Adrien returns home, only for Gabriel to order him to pack his things as he is leaving Paris for London that night. As Adrien calls Marinette and breaks the bad news to her, she surprises him when she speeds onto the airport tarmac to say goodbye to him in person, sharing a kiss that is only broken up by Placide I.T. and an airport technician ordered by Gabriel to separate them. Marinette watches heartbroken as Adrien leaves Paris forever. When Chloe then calls her later to break this secret to her as a final attempt to bully her, Marinette shuts her up, reveals she already knows about it, and shatters whatever pride and ego Chloe had left with telling her off and calling Chloe the "utterly ridiculous" one before hanging up, leaving Chloe to collapse in tears at having truly lost everything, including her favorite bully victim in Marinette when she stood up to her and told her off, turning her own catchphrase back on her.
Despite having to live in London now, Adrien still tries to help Marinette by sneaking back into Paris as Cat Noir to confront his father, until he decides he is in no state of mind to assume the mantle of Cat Noir anymore, especially after being affected by Gabriel's Akumatized self, Nightormentor, and his dust, causing Adrien to have a nightmare of the dark Cat Blanc future, cradling the petrified Ladybug in his arms before she crumbles to dust and ash, much to his devastation, and sends Plagg and the Cat Miraculous back to Marinette to protect her as Gabriel/Monarch launches his endgame with Operation Perfect Alliance, turning anyone wearing an Alliance Ring produced by Tomoe into Miraculized to hunt down Ladybug and Cat Noir under the surmise of rescuing the kidnapped Adrien and Kagami.
After Marinette defeats Gabriel as Bug Noire and disarms him of the Butterfly Miraculous, she attempts to reason with him, showing him the last video from Emilie she made for Nathalie, before she slipped in her coma, asking him to stop living in the past and trying to bring her back, and focus on the future with taking care of Adrien, as she never wanted to be brought back in the first place, having accepted her fate, and needed Gabriel to accept it as well. Guilt-ridden and ashamed of how his actions have ruined Adrien's life because of his obsession to bring Emilie back so Adrien would have both parents in his life again, and now with his body only hours away from crumbling to ash because of the Cataclysm's necrosis, Gabriel uses his last ounces of strength to use what access he had to the Miraculous he possessed to disarm Marinette of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, fuse Tikki and Plagg into their combined form of Gimmi, Kwami of Reality, and asking Marinette to not tell Adrien of his father's evil acts, instead requesting that Adrien just remember him as trying to be a good father, Gabriel sacrifices himself to heal Nathalie of the same effects Emilie suffered from using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged, so while Gabriel and Emilie ascend to the afterlife to be together again in death, Gimmi uses her powers to destroy and re-create the universe per Gabriel's wish.
Fast forward one month later, and while Gabriel is now hailed as a hero for taking Monarch down with himself, Paris is now becoming more eco-friendly under Miss Caline Bustier as its new Mayoress, Adrien is back in Paris living at his family's estate once more with his aunt Amelie, cousin Felix, and a healthy Nathalie, with all his classmates, including his fellow Miraculous users, having a pool party there, quite the opposite of what Adrien dealt with when his father was still alive, Tomoe has taken over Gabriel's business, and Adrien's relationship with Marinette is stronger than ever as they share a kiss that is not interrupted this time. Marinette also returns to Adrien the Graham de Vanily twin rings containing his Amok, so he won't have to worry about being controlled by anyone in possession of them ever again, allowing him to truly be free. Also, after Marinette restored all the Miraculous that Gabriel surrendered to her back to their original states with the Miraculous Grimoire and her duties as Guardian of them, she returned them to their rightful owners in Team Miraculous on a permanent basis to ensure they don't fall into evil hands again. Thus, joined by Rena Rouge, Bunnyx, Ryuko, Purple Tigress, Vesperia, Miss Hound, King Monkey, Viperion, Minotaurox, Carapace, Argos, and the rest, Ladybug and Cat Noir resume their duties with protecting Paris from threats, just like before.
Unknown to them, Lila Rossi/Cerise Bianca had recovered the Butterfly Miraculous, and under the new alias of "Iris Verde", was planning on using it and become the next Hawk Moth, but was attacked by an unseen force that caught her by surprise, leaving her fate unknown.
Miraculous Paris[]
In the special, "Miraculous Paris", Adrien comes to help Marinette as she and a parallel Gabriel, known as Betterfly for using the Butterfly Miraculous for good and not evil, are fighting parallel versions of Marinette and Adrien, using their Miraculous for evil as Shadybug and Claw Noir. To help them escape for the moment, Betterfly Kamikotizes Cat Noir into Celesticat to allow them to escape, before later explaining things to them about the parallel universe he is from, and how all the Miraculous are in the ownership of The Supreme, who ensures only he decides who gets Miraculous to use, like Betterfly, Shadybug, and Claw Noir. Moved by his story, Adrien and Marinette agree to help him, and set a trap for Shadybug, Claw Noir, and Monarch.
After Monarch retreats due to being unable to attack Ladybug, or Ladyfly, due to being given the parallel Butterfly Miraculous to become Ladyfly, and Cat Noir due to them being protected by the Kamikotized parallel Gabriel as Guardian Angel, Adrien learns of his parallel self still in mourning for his mother Emilie, similar to Adrien's own father Gabriel, and encourages him to look beyond that and reform, even try befriending the parallel versions of Adrien and Marinette's friends who are part of the prime French Miraculous Superhero Team. His words convince Claw Noir, and together with Shadybug, who was also convinced to reform by Ladyfly, they both renounce their evil service to The Supreme and become Paw Noir and Ladybug, joining Betterfly's Resistance against The Supreme. After Prime Ladybug, as Ladybiquity, stops Monarch from trying to steal the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from several parallel universes, she, Alya, and Cat Noir see off Betterfly, Paw Noir, and Ladybug as they return to their own parallel universe through a portal provided by Alya as her own Kamikotized superhero self, Ubiquity, to prepare for their war with The Supreme.
Miraculous London[]
Taking place during the final moments of "Re-creation", Bug Noire travels to London to free Adrien and Kagami from their solitary confinement. When she frees Adrien, thanks to the Gorilla, Placide I.T., unlocking Adrien's room for her before she could destroy the door with Cataclysm, she breaks the bad news to him that Gabriel died stopping Monarch, which was only half true. Bug Noire and Nathalie knew the truth of the matter, but knew if Adrien found out his own father was Monarch, it would destroy him, and Gabriel asked Marinette to promise him that Adrien would never know the truth, no matter what. No matter how much it pained her, Bug Noire remained loyal to her promise to Gabriel. Devastated to learn of his father's sacrifice, Adrien blames Bug Noire for not trying to use her Miraculous Ladybug to save him and breaks down crying in grief and anguish. Kagami comforts him as a heartbroken and saddened Bug Noire returns to Paris. The Gorilla is also pained and saddened of learning of the death of his benefactor who hired him to protect Adrien.
“ | Adrien: Ladybug?! Bug Noire: Uh...uh... Adrien: My father's not here? Why aren't you saying anything? Bug Noire: Your father...your father was... (Adrien gasps in horror, realizing something terrible has happened to his father) Bug Noire: Was...a hero. Your father was a hero. (Adrien and Placide I.T. are horrified, realizing Gabriel is dead. Kagami simply lowers her head and tries to avoid eye contact with Adrien) Bug Noire: The truth is...Monarch was forcing your father and Mrs. Tsurugi to work for him. He forced them to design the Alliance Rings in order to turn the entire world against me and Cat Noir. If they said "no", Monarch threatened to go after you and Kagami. Adrien: But I saw your ladybugs fly by. Which means you defeated Monarch. Bug Noire: I did face him, in your home. He...he had taken Nathalie and your father hostage. And I fought as hard as I could, but...he was too mighty and, Monarch had too many powers, too many Miraculous. He severely injured me. I couldn't stop him from taking the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat. Monarch was about to make a wish, and that's...when your father...that's when your father became a hero. At the last minute your father pounced on Monarch, seized the Miraculous, and made a wish in his place. He saved Nathalie's life and mine in exchange for Monarch's life, and his own. (Bug Noire approaches Adrien as Kagami and Placide I.T. look on in sorrow. When she tries to take his hand, he shoves her away in heartbroken anguish.) Adrien: Why didn't you save him?! And even if something had happened to him, aren't your magic ladybugs supposed to repair everything?! This is impossible! YOU HAVE TO BE WRONG!! Bug Noire: (faced wracked with guilt and remorse) I swear I tried everything! Adrien: (Looking at the Black Cat Miraculous and the Turtle Miraculous Alliance Ring on Bug Noire's fingers) If he hadn't locked me in here...I could've saved him... Bug Noire: Believe me, there's nothing you could've done. Adrien: Dad... Bug Noire: That's why your father had sent you and Kagami here to London. To protect you. (Adrien continues to sob in grief as Kagami comforts him) Bug Noire: I'm so sorry. There was no good way of telling you all of this. (kneeling as she tries to offer her support as well) But I wanted to be the one to say it before you found out some other way. I'm...(eyes welling up with tears)...I'm so...so sorry, Adrien...I... Kagami: Thank you, Ladybug. Surely you have many other things to deal with. Bug Noire: (wiping her eyes) Yes...(turns to leave, but looks back one last time at Adrien before departing and returning home, faced wracked with guilt and remorse) |

~ Marinette's half-truth/half-lie to Adrien to keep Gabriel's identity as Monarch a secret per his last request |
When the Gorilla, Adrien, and Kagami return to Paris themselves on the Startrain, Kagami is reunited with her mother Tomoe, while Adrien is reunited with a healthy Nathalie, who comforts him as he mourns the death of both his mother and father now, before then being comforted by Marinette, who was also there to welcome him home to Paris. Ladybug also went before the public and press before Adrien, Kagami, and Gorilla returned to Paris to spin the cover story she and Nathalie created that said Gabriel died stopping Monarch once and for all, making him a hero. She also, as Bug Noire, saw to destroying any and all evidence of Gabriel's evil acts so Adrien would never find out the truth, including the apparatus that he kept the Kwamis imprisoned in, and Emilie's old cryo-pod, which is destroyed with Cataclysm now that it was no longer needed with Emilie's body in the afterlife with Gabriel. The rest of The Crypt is also destroyed, permanently sealing it so no one, not even Adrien, ever finds it.
After Marinette stops Lila/Cerise from destroying the timeline and the universe by learning of her true identity as Ladybug and using Gimmi to make a wish, she sends Plagg and the Black Cat Miraculous back to Adrien to become Cat Noir again. Joining Ladybug later to overlook the Eiffel Tower, the two Miraculous superheroes share a hug as they apologize to each other over not being there to support the other regarding recent events before they prepare for whatever threat comes with the new Hawk Moth, with Cat Noir apologizing to Ladybug for not being there to help her beat Monarch, and her apologizing for not being able to tell him the whole story, but Cat Noir reassures her they'll get the Butterfly Miraculous back "just like old times", especially later when he learns of the restoration of the French Miraculous Superhero Team to full strength since Ladybug got the rest of the Miraculous back from Monarch.
Powers and Abilities[]
As a civilian[]
In addition to being a fashion model and home-schooled, Adrien takes basketball, fencing, piano, and Chinese lessons. Thus, he can speak Chinese fluently and can communicate with Wang Cheng. He also can speak other foreign languages as Japanese and can understand even morse code.
Adrian is also quite good at video games, being able to beat Max in Ultimate Mecha Strike III and achieve one of the top scores in the entire school. Adrien, as Cat Noir, shows that he understands morse code in "Robostus". In "Sapotis", it is revealed that he knows kung-fu.
Adrien can fight on equal grounds with his Akumatized fencing teacher and fend off his knights effortlessly, showing great skill for offensive and defensive movements. Other than fencing, he also does karate, as revealed in "Simon Says", which enables him to fight in hand-to-hand combat as well.
As Cat Noir[]
Cat Noir has enhanced skills such as speed, agility, strength, and near-invulnerability.
Like a cat, he also has enhanced senses such as hearing, smell, and night vision, and has super stealth. Also like a cat, he can use his claws to climb up surfaces, as seen in "Dark Cupid" and several other episodes. Cat Noir uses his staff efficiently, wielding it as a sword, throwing it with great precision and having it be deflected back to him, being able to spin it at high speeds to form a shield, and taking advantage of its duplication and length-changing features. To travel long distances, he uses his staff and its variety in length to vault over obstacles. He also has good hand-to-hand combat skills when needed.
His special power, Cataclysm, allows him to negatively affect anything that he touches with his ring hand. While it is usually used to destroy objects, it can be used for a variety of different effects, like causing a bus' controls to go haywire or creating a platform in a structure. However, using Cataclysm drains his Miraculous' power, causing him to revert back to Adrien typically five minutes afterwards, so he has to use it wisely. It can also be used to severely injure a Miraculous wielder.
As Mister Bug[]
Mister Bug has much more enhanced skills, such as speed, agility, and strength, and he is almost invulnerable to physical damage. He has remarkable talent with wielding his yo-yo, like using it as a grappling hook, a rope to restrain others, a projectile, and if he spins it fast enough, even a shield. After an evil Akuma is released from its corrupted object, he can open his yo-yo and throw it to grab it, remove the energy that Hawk Moth charged it with, and release it as a normal butterfly.
His special power, Lucky Charm, helps him by summoning an object that he uses to achieve his objective, it often being to stop a villain. However, it drains his power and reverts him to Adrien shortly afterwards, so he has to use it wisely. Once the villain is dealt with, Mister Bug can throw his Lucky Charm object into the air and use the Miraculous Mister Bug, which will make it revert to energy and fix all of the damage done since the villain was created.
As Aspik and Snake Noir[]
His unique superpower, Second Chance, allows him to "save" a specific moment and revert time back to it later, with all of his memories intact.
As Astro Cat[]
He has the ability to fly and survive the vacuum of space.
