Heroes that appear in Japanese cartoons or similiar media, often having very expressive features such as large eyes and symbolism that not always found in Western animation. Most, if not always, characters in anime (either heroes or villains) are depicted with traits (either personality or physical appearance) that less cartoonish than those in western cartoon, considering genres of anime medias are wider in range that cartoon does.
