A Genie is a spirit or demon of near-omnipotent power (though below the ranks of deities or angels). These beings can be either good, neutral or evil, but share a common trait of granting people wishes. This page focuses on good genies; those who would prefer to serve heroic individuals rather than evil ones or simply grant wishes to others out of the kindness of their hearts. Famous examples include Genie, Star, Jeannie, Shantae and Shahra.

The term can also be used for exceptionally powerful sorcerers, supernatural entities and even reality-warping mutants/meta-humans that can achieve sufficient feats of power to grant wishes.
