Monster Slayers

A "Monster Slayer" is your classical hero of epic fantasy and adventure who goes forth, hunts and kills a monstrous opponent, often an enemy that many other warriors have fallen to or refuse to fight - often a hero is tasked with hunting and slaying these monsters or lesser demons by a god (or God Himself) : in modern times the title can also apply to characters in non-fantasy settings who are known for hunting down and defeating equally daunting enemies (such as Ripley from the Alien series, famous for her on-going war with predatory monsters the Xenomorphs or the Doctor from Doctor Who who describes himself as "the man who stops the monsters").

They are the polar opposite of Monster Masters.

Not to be confused with Lethal Heroes, as some of these heroes may have only killed monsters as a last resort (such as self-defense or to protect others).
