These brave heroes protect things from known or unknown threats whether it's foreign or domestic. Often times, they are led by a conviction to protect what is important is often a motivation to push these people into fighting against villainy such as protecting loved ones or comrades. All in all they are guardians who will protect what is important to them no matter the cost. The heroic counterpart to protective villains.

There are four scale variants to this category:

• Standard Protection
• Localized Protection - these protectors protect the zones, areas and nations they reside from threats. Wayne Brothers, Batman, Daredevil, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Josuke Higashikata are some examples of this type.
• Global Protection - these protectors protect the world they live in from hostile foes. Raiden from Mortal Kombat franchise and his chosen Earthrealm fighters against Outworld and NetherRealm are good examples of this.
• Cosmic/Universal Protection - the highest and largest order in scale, these heroes protect all beings belong to the universe.
