In fantasy and horror fiction animated skeletons are a recurring type of Undead that may be mindless or intelligent depending on the setting - they tend to be slightly more powerful than zombies as their skeletal forms are more agile and harder to damage (many skeletons can also simply re-attach broken or severed bones).
