And since I am dead, I can take off my head, to recite Shakespearean quotation.
~ Jack Skellington.
You tried to kill me, Randy...but you can't kill what's already dead.
~ The Undertaker to Randy Orton during WWE Smackdown! 2005 show

The Undead can also be heroes as well. Heroes whom became undead beings are mainly as results of the supernatural phenomenon, or certain technology that successfully revive them upon their mortal death. However, reviving the hero in either of these said methods often not resulting a perfect success, as the said heroes whom revived in this way became the undead version of their mortal selves. One of the possible reasons of these imperfect attempts to revive them was their bodies suffer from grave injuries by the time of their mortal death, their souls has abandoned their bodies for too long prior to resurrection, etc. Such forms include zombies, skeletons, ghosts, mummies, vampires, liches, etc.

In some cases, they ended up becoming ghosts, due to their souls yet able to access the afterlife for the various reasons.

NOTE: Characters who were revived and turned into other beings (i.e. RoboCop) do not count.
