Cecil Stedman is a major character in the Image Comics series Invincible and its animated television series of the same name. He also serves as the deuteragonist of the Brit comics.
He is the director of the Global Defense Agency and is responsible for giving orders and missions to the Guardians of the Globe. After the massacre of the original members of the Guardians of the Globe, he made it his mission to find out who was responsible, only to discover it was none other than Omni-Man. After Omni-Man fought Invincible and left Earth, Cecil has kept a close eye on Mark to ensure he doesn't turn out like his father.
He is voiced by Walton Goggins, who also played Chris Mannix in The Hateful Eight.
Appearance[]
Cecil is a man with pale skin appearing to be somewhere in his 50s to 60s. He has blue eyes and grey hair that goes down back his head to his neck. He also has a scar on the right side of his face that goes from his lip to his right ear. His outfit typically consists of a navy blue dress suit and pants, along with a white dress shirt and red tie. He has a pin of the American flag on the left side of his suit.
Personality[]
As the Director of the Global Defense Agency, Cecil is a no nonsense man, being serious at all times, but does have moments of dry wit. He's dedicated to maintaining the safety of Earth and it's people, giving orders to the Guardians of the Globe whenever a major crisis is happening. Although serious, he is shown to be compassionate as he expressed worry and sympathy to both Mark and Debbie after the former fought Omni-Man and ended up serverly beaten, leaving both him and Debbie distraught. He also offered to help the both of them in any way he could, coming to Debbie's aid after Angstrom Levy broke her arm when he took her and Oliver hostage. When Mark showed worry about becoming like his dad after brutalizing Angstrom, Cecil tries to reassure him, telling him he's not his dad and he did what he had to do.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Cecil's past. All that's really known is that he was recruited into the Global Defense Agency many years ago where he made connections with people like Donald Ferguson, and at one point, ended up in an accident which got him the scar on his face that he has to this day. He worked his way up to the Director position and somehow ended up meeting Omni-Man, presumably recruiting him as an ally of the Guardians of the Globe.
