The Celestial Spirit King is a minor hero in Fairy Taiil. He is the ruler of the Celestial Spirit World and the King who commands the Celestial Spirits who live there whose only method of summoning is if a Gold Key is destroyed by it's Celestial Spirit Mage.
Biography[]
The Celestial Spirit King first appeared following Lucy's attempt to open Loke's gate, insisting on changing the law of the Spirit World. The King refers to Loke as his old friend while acknowledging his crime, stating that whether or not the fault is direct or indirect doesn't matter, as he's still forbidden from returning to the Celestial Spirit World. Lucy argues that Loke has been suffering for his friend's sake for the last three years, standing up to the King and declaring that she won't accept anything but his innocence. Loke joins in, yelling that he wants to repent, but Lucy shouts that he can’t since his death will bring more sadness to those who hold him dear, and won't even bring Karen back. Using all of her strength, Lucy summons all of her Spirits at once, an action which would have resulted in the death of any other Celestial Spirit Mage.
Unable to hold them for long, Lucy says that her friends want Loke there, who tries to urge her out of it, not wanting her to follow Karen's footsteps. Upon seeing this, the Spirit King concludes that maybe the law is in error. Also having an epiphany that Loke's betrayal of Karen was for the sake of protecting Aries, and Lucy did the same thing to protect Loke. Not wishing for their bond to be broken, The King makes an exception for this occasion and grants Loke permission to return to the Spirit World. Before departing, The King says that if Leo wants to repent, he should live on and protect Lucy, as he believes her to be a friend of such worth.
Grand Magic Games arc[]
Wendy, Carla, Juvia and Levy are all welcomed by the Celestial Spirit King, all of whom being shocked upon seeing him (excluding Lucy and Erza). Lucy steps forward and asks him about the crisis that Virgo informed them about, only for the Celestial Spirit King to chuckle and welcomes the group back from their seven years sleep, further explaining the start of the party, confusing the group. The Celestial Spirits then reveals that the crisis was all a ruse so they could bring everybody to the Celestial Spirit World for a celebration, since Lucy couldn't summon all her Spirits to Earth Land for the party. While partying, the King tells Lucy and Gray their group are the first humans in history to visit the Celestial Spirit World. After the celebration, all Lucy's Spirits, including the King wish Lucy good luck before they all head back home.
Tartaros arc[]
The Celestial Spirit King is later summoned directly to Earth Land during Fairy Tail's war against the Dark Guild Tartaros by Lucy after sacrificing Aquarius' Zodiac key in a fit of desperation, the latter of whom urged her to do so in order for the King himself to be summoned. Hurtling towards Cube from the sky, the Celestial Spirit King is able to effortlessly shred floating island with a swing of his sword, demolishing the Demons' base. Once the now lifeless wreckage falls to the earth, shocking everyone inside, he descends to the ground to confront Mard Geer, recognizing the Underworld King from a previous meeting.
Looking down towards Mard's hands, the Celestial Spirit King realizes that the former still possesses E.N.D.'s book, only to be informed that it's actually the soul of E.N.D., Tartaros itself. After asking about Mard's scheme, the Etherious promptly explain their plan to revive their guild master and return to Zeref. The Spirit King turns his gaze towards the wounded and exhausted Lucy, asking if such reason is why she lies fallen and with tears running down her cheeks. Mard replies that this shall be his final confrontation with the Spirit King. Lifting his sword upwards, the Spirit King swears upon their contract together that he shall never forgive them and won't hesitate to destroy all of Lucy's attackers. Swinging his sword, the King manifests a series of large explosions upon touching the ground with his weapon. However, Mard easily dodges each attack and uses his Curse to simultaneously counter-attack the combustions. Albeit, revealing yet another ability of his, the Spirit King unleashes his Meteor Blade, which creates a sizable crater within its path and destroys all of Mard's forms, who yet again dodges the attack with no effort.
During his battle against the Underworld King, the Spirit King becomes aware of Lucy's distress and despair, granting her Aquarius' power and telepathically urging her to stand up, and let the stars guide her to victory. Before long, the King begins to grow weaker and more sluggish. Realizing that his time on Earth Land is running out, the King implores Lucy to give him the remainder of her powers in order to cast Galaxia Blade, it's nature taking Mard by surprise upon seeing that it's not actually a full-frontal assault, but a spell that dispels and erodes away at any and all forms of dark Enchantment. Having freed all those caught in the clutches of Alegria and temporarily petrified Mard with his last technique, the King returns to the Celestial Spirit World, entrusting Fairy Tail to defeat Tartaros.
