We live in such exciting times, we need to look to the future
~ The kind-hearted Charlie Dupont

Charles Armand "Charlie" Dupont is one of the main protagonists in the fourth season of the Facebook game Criminal Case, titled Criminal Case Mysteries of the past. He is the inventor and technical expert of the Flying Squad, and is the most heroic of the bunch.

Biography[]

Charles Dupont was born in Switzerland in the late 1800's, where he then moved to America. After a few years in University, Charlie became a inventor and joined the Flying Squad, being one of only three characters who have oiffical Police badges.

He married Madeline O'Mally in 1911 (Confirmed by creators and an in-game tattoo), and had a son named George Dupont. He was then tragically murdered, but it was a sacrifice.

Notable Events in Criminal Case[]

Welcome to Concordia![]

This was Charles', and all the other characters', debut in Mysteries of the Past. We first encounter Charles at the doc along with Madeline where Chief Write had sent them to welcome the player from their cruse to Concordia.

The next we see of him is when a Strange Device was sent to his laboratory that was unfamiliar to Madeline and the player. Charles concluded that it was a device to measure temprature and it was used by a nurse on our cruise named Nellie Mortimer, who is also the killer of this case.

Breaking the Glass Ceiling[]

In this case, in the External Investigations, Viola asked the player to retrieve a case for her that was stolen. We agree and we find the case, and while dusting it, we found Charles' fingerprints on the case. When asked about it, he first didn't want to talk about it, but finally came clean: He took it to get DNA for his new DNA Machine he's working on for the World Exhibition. He explained that with his revolutionary device will make it easier to catch criminals. He later apologized to Viola, showing his honesty.

Electrical Hazard[]

Charles was excited to come to the World Exhibition but sadly couldn't make it thanks to transport problems. Madeline then offers him a ride along with the player, and they head off to the Exhibition. While at the exhibition, they discover the body of Arnold Nottingham and Charles was shocked.

Charles then got in a fight with the Luddites, a group of anarchists that assault inventors regularly. The Luddites threw rocks at him and he shouted at them, this is understandable as he was just the victim of assault, and Madeline and the player then had to treat him as a suspect, because Arnold was a Luddite himself. Madeline was shocked by Charles' behavior, but Charles said that he tried to settle things normally, and non-violently, but they wouldn't listen and started throwing rocks at him. He said he suspected they where behind the sabotage, but he wasn't sure, and so he apologized to the player and Madeline.

It was then revealed that Susie, Arnold's daughter was Charles' girlfriend, who became his ex-girlfriend after she was arrested for her father's murder. Charles couldn't believe that she was a killer and was very upset.

Death is a Carabet[]

Charles asked the player for help because his lost his whole live savings. Charles said he was talking to a journalist that said a African Monarch has been kidnapped, and Charles was shocked. They said they needed money and he would be repaid once he was free, but it was all gone. When asked who took it, he traced them to the cabaret but lost them after that.

Diego del Lobo helped retrieve the money and made sure it was real money. When the player and Madeline returned it, Charles was thankful.

Little Murder on the Prairie[]

The victim's daughter had held Charles hostage with a shotgun because he wanted to milk her cow. Isaac calmed the girl down, and told Charles to be careful.

Later, Charles asked Madeline and the player to help him demonstrate his milking machine, to help the victim's daughter and her grandmother with the workload on the farm. Madeline said okay and Charles went to get his machine, but accidentally dropped it in the farm. He then asked the player and Madeline to retrieve it.

When the machine was found, Charles showed his machine and demonstrated it to the young girl, and in the end, she agreed and Charles and gave her the machine for free. Charles and Madeline then went on a date.

Talk of the Town[]

In the Additional Investigation, Madeline's mother, Eileen, demanded that Madeline get a husband becuse she was "The Talk of the Town". Eileen forced Charles to propose, but Madeline rejected because they've only went on three dates. Then Madeline has a plan, and told her mother that Charles was moving in with her, AND they're not married yet, in which Madeline and Charles started kissing. Eileen was mad, and stormed off. Madeline, Charles, and the player then went the pool for an afternoon of relaxation.

After a date, Charles found out that the telephone company was a scam, and wanted to stop it at all costs.

Turn for the Worse[]

Charles became a magician and made Madeline dissapear. Then asked the player for help.

Doom Service[]

Charles and Madeline went on another, more romantic and private date.

Tipping the Scales[]

After Viola did some tests, she confirmed that the reason Madeline fainted was because she's pregnant. The reason she broke a glass bottle was because Richard said she can't have a drink for a while. Charles and Madeline were then happy, and promised each other that they'd be the perfect parents together.

A Study in Pink[]

Charles finally, on his own terms, proposed to Madeline. She said yes and the two kissed.

Arrow of Injustice[]

Charles asked the players to help him look for his wedding vows. When found, the player noticed that the vows are too long and it was sent ot Diego. With the help of Evie, Diego and Evie shortened the vows and jokes, but left in a couple of them. It was then given to Charles, who was greatefull.

Everyone was gathered at the wedding, Judge Takakura was the priest of the wedding, and when the vows where done, the two kissed and everyone cheared. They where now officially married.

Best Laid Plans[]

Charles was at Lady Highmore's house because Madeline's water broke. Lady Highmore then told Charles to wait outside. When the baby was born, they decided to call him George Dupont.

Last Stand For Justice[]

Poor Charlie was murdered in the airship, and all our friends are suspects. Isaac and Charles where going back to the airship to get tools when Isaac stepped away for a moment and Charles was murdered. A lot of our friends had their personal issues with him, like Rose being mad that Charles said bombing is not an option, because he believes in non-violence and peace, Arthur wanting to fore him because of pay problems, and because Lawson was blackmailing Arthur, and so on. Overall, Charles was a brave soul that died to save thousands of people.

It All Comes To A Head[]

Charles was mentioned in this case, and this confirmed that the player in MoTP was the same player of modern times, meaning they time trvaelled even before the others.

Murder Details[]

It turned out that Diego had killed Charles, but it was rather justified.

Diego and Charles has been working on a plan to overthrow Lawson and his goons, and Isaac and Charles were just getting tools to put the plan in motion. Diego, under his disguise as Eddie Lebold, came to help Charles when Lawson walked in. After a talk, Lawson put a gun in Eddie (Diego)'s hands and told him to shoot Charles. Lawson said Charles shouldn't refuse, and neither should Diego, but Charles wasn't going to refuse. He said that Diego must shoot him so that the thousands of people, including the Squad and his family, could have a chance to live, and so that Lawson's reign of terror could finally end. Diego started crying and shot Charles. He sacrificed himself to save thousands of others.
