Charles "Charlie" Heller is the titular main protagonist of the 1981 vigilante spy novel and movie The Amateur and its 2025 remake. He is a CIA cryptographer that worked for government intelligence until his wife died in a terrorist attack while in London. Determined to find and kill the people who murdered his wife, Charlie becomes a vigilante and searches for his wife's killers.
In the 1981, he was portrayed by John Savage. In the 2025, he is portrayed Rami Malek, who also played Ahkmenrah in the Night at the Museum trilogy, Chee-Chee in Dolittle, and Elliot Alderson from Mr. Robot.
