Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Charley's past, but he was born around the late 1960s-to-early 1970s to an unnamed father and Judy Brewster, and grew up in Rancho Corvalis, Iowa. By the events of the film, Charley attends Christopher L. Cushing High School alongside his girlfriend Amy Peterson and his friend Edward "Evil Ed" Thompson. At some point, Charley became a huge fan of horror films, and frequently watched the show Fright Night hosted by Peter Vincent.
Fright Night[]
Charley had a very active imagination and was a huge fan of monster and horror films while in high school. When he discovered that his new neighbor Jerry Dandridge was a vampire, nobody believed him.
Charley eventually turned to Peter Vincent, a has-been actor who used to star as a vampire hunter. When Charley asked Peter for help, the actor dismissed the boy as insane. Soon after, Amy and Evil enlisted the help of Peter to prove to Charley that Jerry is not really a vampire, but Peter discovered that Charley was right all along when he noticed Jerry's lack of a reflection. Subsequently, Jerry turned into a vampire, turned Ed into a vampire, and kidnapped Amy.
Charley and Peter showed up at the vampire's house intent on rescuing Amy. Unfortunately, Charley was quickly knocked out by Jerry Dandridge's servant, Billy Cole, and was brought to Amy. Peter returned to rescue Charley, and they both killed Billy Cole and then after a long battle, Jerry Dandridge as well as Amy is cured from her vampirism. After the events, Charley's relationship with Amy improves as Peter regains his spark to continue his career.
Fright Night II[]
Following the events of the first film, Charley received therapy from his trauma, and believes that Jerry was a serial killer instead of a vampire. Unbeknownst to Brewster, his therapist Dr. Harrison is a vampire aligned with Regine, whom is the sister of Jerry and wants to avenge her late brother.
Personality[]
Charley is a normal teenager and while impulsive at times has a heart of gold. He makes mistakes but realizes quickly and does what he can to make up for them and do the right thing. Charlie also has a strong sense of determination when it comes to the safety of the people around him. When he feels that his friends and family are in danger at the hands of Jerry Dandridge, he does everything he can to protect them, even when it's detrimental to himself. Charley also knows a lot about how vampires work, mostly thanks to his fondness for horror movies.
