| ~ Chicken Scratch attempting to introduce himself as Jordan in "Healthy Food Helps us Grow". |
Jordan Cook, better known as Chicken Scratch, is the tritagonist of the Amanda the Adventurer trilogy.
He was initially an unnamed opossum who disrupted Amanda and Wooly's adventures by breaking, stealing, eating, or messing with their items, which was sometimes stopped by Riley Park.
It is later revealed that he was actually Joanne Cook's little brother, Jordan Cook, who lost after seeing Amanda The Adventurer tape. He and other seven missing children were placed in stasis and his soul was trapped in the Opossum character.
He was voiced by Reece Themen.
Personality[]
He was initially portrayed as a feral possum who couldn't speak and constantly stole things from Amanda and Wooly and then ate them. He constantly annoyed both of them.
Although beneath this, Chicken Scratch is actually just a tragic victim of Hameln who was one of the eight missing children placed in stasis pods. His soul was trapped inside of the Opossum character where he had to steal things from Amanda and Wooly to eat.
He seems to have grown to deeply care for Amanda and Riley, wanting to warn and protect both of them from Wooly the Sheep, the true mastermind and threat of the story. He also seems to care deeply for his sister, as when he heard her voice he immediately jumped to the screen while calling her name.
Biography[]
Background[]
Although not much is known of his life before he became Chicken Scratch, we do know that he was once a regular human who was the little brother of Joanne Cook, the two seemed to share a healthy bond and care for eachother given Joanne's determination to free his soul and Chicken Scratch's desperation to see her once again.
Jordan was also a fan of Amanda the Adventurer, and one day he was found by Joanne just standing infront of the TV, seemingly in a trance. One day, Jordan went missing without a trace, it was presumed that he was kidnapped by someone and had died. The grief of his disappearance went on to later kill both of his parents.
Jordan ended up at the Hameln Entertainment Factory, with seven other children, where he was examined and then labeled XF582KP-01 by the scientists. After, he was placed in a stasis chamber and forced into the cartoon world as an unnamed possum character, though he would later be named Chicken Scratch by Amanda.
Amanda the Adventurer 2[]
"Let’s Plan A Trip"[]
The Opossum starts the tape underneath Amanda's sofa, at one point being spotted by Amanda, who seems confused. He then proceeds to attack Amanda after she finds the coin in her pocket. If the player interferes, he will leave and Amanda will express confusion at who he is. If the player refuses, he will eat the coin Amanda found in her pocket which causes her to get upset.
"Goodnight!"[]
While Amanda is putting away her toys, Chicken Scratch appears and attempts to grab something from the shelf where her basketball is put.
He later appears in Amanda's bathroom after she gets her toothpaste. If Riley stops Chicken Scratch, Amanda expresses disgust at how he tried to eat her toothpaste before resuming. If Riley does not stop him, he will eat the toothpaste, causing her to become upset, stating that her teeth will rot out.
If Riley does not get Amanda a nightlight, Chicken Scratch enters her bedroom and steals her teddy bear Dolly, which leads to her having a nightmare.
"Let’s Start the Day!"[]
Chicken Scratch first appears as Amanda enters the kitchen, climbing into a cupboard. He appears again later attacking Amanda as she tries to prepare her breakfast. If Riley stops him, Amanda will question how he keeps getting in and will continue making breakfast. If Riley does not help her, he will eat the breakfast item Amanda was preparing, causing her to get upset as she has to make it again.
“Let’s Practice Patience!”[]
Chicken Scratch initially appears underneath a picnic table, being spotted by Wooly before vanishing. He appears later, jumping onto Wooly's head before leaping to the table and grabbing a paint can. If Riley intervenes, Chicken Scratch puts the paint can down and leaves, with Amanda noting how annoying he is. If Riley does nothing, Chicken Scratch creates a mess with the paint, causing Amanda and Wooly to get paint on their clothes. This infuriates Amanda, with Wooly trying to calm her and remind her of patience.
"Let's Hunt for Treasure!"[]
Chicken Scratch appears hiding in a tree by the burial site of a treasure (his tail is seen dangling from it). Chicken Scratch seems more hyperactive than usual in this episode and starts running to and from across the screen, even taking a second to sniff the camera. He suddenly skids to a stop and calms down. He then leaps onto Amanda and attempts to steal her shovel. If Riley helps Amanda, Chicken Scratch will keel over and play dead. Amanda then gets up and kicks him, causing him to let out an ear-shattering yell and flee. Wooly then exclaims, “That guy's going to give me a heart attack!”
If Riley does not help Amanda, Chicken Scratch grabs her shovel and bashes it against a nearby tree before fleeing.
“When You're Feeling Bad"[]
While Wooly is telling a story to cheer up Amanda, Chicken Scratch climbs onto her sofa, being noticed once he starts messing with one of her drawings. If Riley intervenes, he falls behind the sofa. If Riley does nothing, he eats her drawing and spits it out at the camera.
"We Can Fix It!"[]
Chicken Scratch first appears glitching and distorting in the first, non-interactable sequence of "We Can Fix It!". He then reappears later in the episode, managing to jump onto Wooly's head. He grabs the terrified sheep's left eye and tugs on it. If Riley intervenes, he pops up into the air, frightened for a second before leaving.
If Wooly is not helped, Chicken Scratch rips his eye out of his socket, and Riley will need to get a new eyeball from the frog on the nearby table in the library.
"Do You Feel Safe?"[]
He first appears spying on Wooly and Amanda while the duo talk to Riley, after they enter the alleyway, Chicken Scratch follows.
Upon finding them, he jumps to attack them, which angers Amanda and Wooly who are done with his nonsense. Suddenly, Joanne begins to talk to Riley through the radio, Chicken Scratch immediately jumps to the screen, attempting to call out her sister's name, only to be attempted to be pulled away by Amanda and Wooly.
Even if Riley doesn't help, Chicken Scratch is eventually stunned by Amanda and Wooly, he is then placed in a dumpster by the both of them
Unlabeled Tape[]
While Amanda and Wooly are at a candy shop, Chicken Scratch suddenly appears from behind the candy shelves. While Wooly is disgusted, Amanda notices Chicken Scratch feeling down and suggests getting a treat to cheer him up, which starts their friendship and frustrates Wooly.
Later, Amanda gets Wooly to act as a stool so Chicken Scratch can reach a bag of Strawberry Chews. He offers some of the Chews to Wooly, but he rejects them due to his distaste for the candy. Chicken Scratch spends the rest of the episode eating the Strawberry Chews.

Trivia[]
- Although later revealed to not be villainous at all, it's possible that his character from Amanda the Adventurer 2 was inspired by Swiper the Fox, as both steal from the protagonists, though Chicken Scratch had an actual reason to and isn't genuinely villainous.
