Chief Mammatus is the secondary antagonist of the miniseries The Island in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, as well as a minor character in Season 14: Seabound.
He is the chief of the Keepers, a race of islanders who are descended from beings whom the First Spinjitzu Master entrusted to protect the Storm Amulet that could awaken the goddess of the seas, Wojira.
He is voiced by Paul Dobson, who also voices Master Wu and many other characters in the same series.
Biography[]
Mammatus is first introduced when some of his Keepers bring the captured ninja to him. He accuses them of trying to steal the Storm Amulet for themselves. Although the ninja try and explain their situation to the chief about not wanting to steal the Amulet, he refuses to listen and has the Keepers throw them in a jail cell.
As the ninja manage to escape the cell and meet up with Wu and Misako, Mammatus once again orders his subordinates to tie up the ninja and their allies to poles on the beach of the island. Mammatus explains that a millennia ago, the First Spinjitzu Master gave his ancestors an amulet that belonged to the sea serpent, Wojira, so that she may never be awakened ever again. Mammatus then ordered to have Jay as a sacrifice to appease "Wojira", whom they thought has risen from her slumber. However, "Wojira" turns out to be a fake sea monster that was constructed by the bounty hunter Ronin.
After realizing that the ninja never intended to steal the Storm Amulet in the first place, he apologizes profusely to them and allows them to leave the island.
Later on, Nya, Jay, Lloyd, Zane, P.I.X.A.L., and Benthomaar return to the island where they ask Mammatus to ready his forces for the invasion that Kalmmar has planned to steal the Storm Amulet so that he can awaken the real Wojira.
