The Battlelord Mk II Prototype, more commonly known as Chiyou (蚩尤), is a major character in the 2024 Red Candle Games' Metroidvania video game Nine Sols.

He is the younger brother to Xingtian, and one of the two Battlelord Prototypes created by the Jie Kingdom as part of the Battlelord Project. Unlike his brother, Chiyou lives on a path of peace as an aspiring poet, and seeks only to end his brother's non-sentient existence in order to spare his brother the pain of not truly living.

Biography

Chiyou and his brother Xingtian were two machines constructed as part of the Jie Clan's Battlelord Project, made to be incredibly powerful weapons of mass destruction. However, Chiyou gained sentience. Upon waking up, he could see poems across from him, and one day those poems registered as art in hid mind, and he started a path of peace. His greatest wish was to either enlighten his brother of the joys of truly living, or kill him to grant him death.

Yanlao would later wake up Xingtian, and Yi would defeat him. Since Yi could not fully kill Xingtian, Chiyou began gathering resources to finish the job, along the way saving Yi's life after he collapsed after escaping Jiequan's prison, but also selling Yi resources he would need. Chiyou used everything he acquired, and given to him by Yi, to make a last stand against Xingtian in order to end his suffering. However, Xingtian was much stronger, and severly damaged his brother.

With his dying breath, Chiyou thanked Yi for everything, and asked him for one last favour of finishing his brother off for him. When Yi agreed, Chiyou was able to pass, and rest in peace.
